Hello People!

Well I will start by saying that I LOOOOVVEEEE Chocolate!  I am 20 years old and I have to eat chocolate everyday or it gets scary! Yell I get really grumpy.... my stomach hurts and I get kinda shaky! Not even kidding .... chocolate withdrawals. I have cravings! My coworker described it best when she said if chocolate was 2 years old and melted to the curb i would scrape it up and still eat it. Tongue out Ever since I was little, dessert was always a big part of family time.... I was always the chocolate lover. My addiction escalated  when I became a manager of a sweet shoppe when I was 18. There was all kinds of chocolate available to me at any time... and I never got tired of it. The down side ; I gained about 35 lbs Frown

I am having a really hard time losing the weight. I have been trying to count calories but I am having trouble. I already dont eat too much. I am a vegetarian and a very busy one at that. I usually consume about 1500 calories a day not inculding my chocolate binges. I have tried cutting my calorie intake to 1200 now... but it is time to kick the chocolate to the curb....

Any advice on how to quit chocolate when you are a true chocoholic??

Thanks!!! Good luck chocolate lovers!!

What kind of chocolate do you eat?  Many people, including me, swear that eating a darker chocolate with a richer chocolate flavor will cuase you to eat less of it in general.  Maybe that will help?

Well I eat any kind of chocolate! Ha! Dark, milk, white, with raspberries, whatever I will gobble it up! But recently I have been trying to eat the Fiber Plus Bars with dark chocolate and almonds. They are really tasty but my goal is to cut out any unnatural sugars out of my diet including chocolate. Lets just say that it is not going so well. I am really dieting to make a life change not just to lose the weight. There is a lot of hereditary diseases that run in my family, including diabetes.... I want to diet and exercise to better my chances against these diseases.

I have tried to eat sugar free stuff but it is sooo expensive and I am on a budget. Actually I think it is a positive thing that everyday candy bars such as Hershey have gone up in price... it is now 99cents opposed to the 3 for 99cents when I was younger. Whhoooowhooo make it all expensive so i will by healthy alternatives.

Its always late at night when chocolate comes to haunt me! I just dont know what to tell myself to make me not go get some....

I need extra motivation!

I really love chocolate too

and i am a vegitarian so i think we have alot in commen!!

The thing i like to try to do is have balance

i think that if you deprive youself of something for too long then you will go crazy and mess up all the work that you have done.

So in this case i think you should eat a healthy diet full of protein and lots of fruits and vegitables. And whenever you have that craving of chocolate try to use self control(trust me it gets easier) or chew a piece of gum. Then if that dosnt work eat the chocolate just make sure it is in moderation. Like on scoop of choclate icecream or a hersheys bar. Just think about all the hard work you have put into your diet and ask yourself if its worth it. For me sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.

This method has really worked for me because i have lost 15 pound in the last 3 weeks. I eat 1200 calories per day but i dont kill myself to stay there. I also run on the treadmlill or outside everyday it has been working very well for me.

I try to stay away from the fatty cheeses and tons of pasta as well (cuz were vegitarians and thats the stuff we love)n. On a diet the mesuring cup and nutrition facts are yoir best friends. You can have vitually anything as long as u have it in moderation.

I hope that helps!!!

Believe me, eating 1500 calories is enough but don't go down to 1200! Eat a few pieces of dark chocolate melted over some strawberries or even alone for dessert. That will be something to look forward to. Sure, for a snack you might have yogurt, granola bar, and a piece of fruit or hummus and crackers-which are both delicious, but you might still be grumpy from not eating chocolate, you can look forward to the chocolate after dinner and might even be more disciplined during dinner which was usually my "binge time:.

you know i'm like that with chocolate too! I can't do the moderation thing either (really hard). My thing that helped me was when i stay busy it kind of leaves my mind. when you turn fidgidy exercise and you will be killing 2 birds with one stone.Wink

Life is far too short to punish oneself.  I am a massive chocolate lover.  My problem is late at night, I can usually talk myself out of eating it during the day but late in the evenings it calls me.  My new plan is to go for a walk and if the nagging is still there then I'll have a chocolate frozen yogurt snack - you burn some calories, wind down from the day and give yourself a treat at the end of it.   The other alternative is to buy a small dark chocolate to have with your tea/coffee.  Dark chocolate is perfect with a peppermint tea.
