is it true-eat meter
is it true that you are not suppossed to eat under you bmr. I was trying to find out if i am eating enough calories. I am 28 years old, i weigh 221 lbs, and my burn meter says that i burn around 2500 calories daily, but i read that you are to at least eat you basic metabolic rate, or what your body burns by you doing nothing a day, is this correct
so halcyonlies you have lost 30 lbs. wow that is amazing. how long did it take and what have you been eating. It seems that I can not get the scales to budge.
Just to make clear before I respond. The burn meter here is NOT your BMR. It is BMR times a factor based on your activity level plus any activities you have logged.
There is no rule that says you need to eat your BMR each day. People usually suggest that because it guarantees that you don't undereat, which can stall weight loss, and recommend that you create your deficit by adding exercise and other activities. This is the safe recommendation, but as already noted, BMR calculators just give you an estimate and depending on which formula is used to get the number (I know of at least 4 different ones), it can vary by as much as 800 calories depending on how big you are. If you are not hungry at your current calorie level and you are losing weight, don't change anything. If you are constantly hungry at your current calorie level, then maybe it would be better to eat more and exercise more so that your deficit remains the same, ie. eat 250 more calories and burn 250 more calories by exercising. Weight loss isn't an exact science, so anyone who is quoting hard and fast rules at you is either just being lazy and giving safe recommendations without explaining further or doesn't know what they are talking about and are just regurgitating something they read here without understanding it. I call this the "I read it in the forums, so it must be so" syndrome.
hahaha. i would not write it better
