Depends where you start... If you're 300lbs is quite possible to lose 10lbs in the first week with just a few minor tweaks to your food choices.
I always thought the last 10 lbs was the hardest.
Unfortunately for me, all of them were and are still very hard to lose... It took me some time (3 months) to see the scale moves... and after that, it was just slow loss... all the way... But I have to admit, getting closer to my goal... it has become harder & harder maybe because I'm not as motivated when I look at myself in the mirror or maybe because my body is telling me that this is MY normal weight....
My first 20 came off really fast. The last 16 seem to have come off at a snail's pace, the next 30 are probably going to be a bear I think at least that is how things are trending for me. I was loosing 3-5lbs a week and now am loosing 1-2 at most per week which is definately more healthly just not as fast a result. I have also upped my calories slightly to be more inline with my workouts as I was probably under eating when I started and have a better idea and try to not have more then a 1000 deficit any day where before I was regulary in the 1300-1400 range.
For me, the first ten were a piece of cake. The last ten pounds have been very difficult for me. I have been at the same weight for the last month. I guess that is good news because I have been able to maintain the loss. However, I just want the last ten to come off before summer (and bathing suit season)!

I don't know where you heard that but everything I've heard suggests that the first 10 pounds are the easiest. When you start a weight loss regime I thinkyour body will lose more weight to start with but less as it gets used a new lifestyle.
Actually sticking to a diet and exercise is probably hardest in the first couple of weeks though and easier as you get used to it.
In my experience, the FIRST 10 pounds are easy, it's the LAST 10 that are the hardest.

Ditto that. The LAST 10 are a bugger to lose.
If you just complain about your weight and can't make a commitment to exercising and eating healthier foods, yes the 10 first pounds are the hardest to lose.
They are harder because you need to make decisions and actually DO the changes you know you need to do in order to lose weight. For a lot of people, deciding to stick to a diet plan is the hardest thing they will ever do. Because they usually say ''I'll start exercising tomorrow, next week, ...'' and actually end up never doing it. Or they say that they'll stop visiting their favorite fast food restaurant as of today and end up going the next day just because the thought of eating there has made it impossible for them not to go.
But once that's out of the way and you've decided to do something, the last 10 pounds are, and will always be, the hardest pounds to lose...
The first 10 was easy peasy....it's the other 75 that are making me work for it

I agree. My first ten took very little effort, my last ten are sticking like glue.
maybe if you see it as the first ten you put on, LOL, but indeed what all the others say, the first ten are a breeze, the last ten are haaaard

OK, good. s'not just me.
I only asked because it has taken me 7 almost 8 weeks to lose 7 1/2 lbs. Maybe it's me. LOL!
It's the last 10. In fact there is a show on T.V. called "The Last 10 Pounds" It has this tough trainer dude and nutritionist that take people with the last 10 pounds to lose and KICK their butts. They do it in 4 weeks. They weigh and measure at the beginning, lower their calorie intake to 1500 calories and then exercise, exercise, exercise. They re-measure at 2 weeks and then at 4 weeks. Almost every episode I have seen has them losing 10 pounds and lots of inches. Except one where the lady cheated on her eating plan.
For me the first 10 pounds came off with only the smallest alterations of my habits. Of course, I was starting with nearly 80 pounds to lose, so YMMV.
The first 30 pounds were pretty easy. The other 26 so far have taken more work and focus, but it's been so worth it. Now I'm just seven pounds away from a healthy BMI and everything after that is frosting on the cake (low cal, low fat of course.
)
The first 10lb were difficult for the year that I spent wishing them to go away. Once I started counting calories, they were the easiest to lose.
