Do I trust the scales?

Quote  |  Reply
Hmm ..
So I upped my calorie intake considerably - partly by accident, partly to start maintaining, partly because the people around me wanted me to ..
So. Do I trust the scales? They've stayed pretty level since I started "maintaining". Occasionally they slipped down a tad, surprisingly when I ate alot and didnt run :S but they've gone back up after ... however, I feel bigger. My stomache feels bigger, I feel like my hips are coming back, and I dunno, I just feel fatter.
So have I gained fat? Or is my brain telling me I have cause its used to me losing it, and not just staying the same? :S

hmmm*thinks*

what was your calorie intake before, and what have you upped it to?

everyone has 'fat days', but it's usually all in our heads, rather than our hips. is it possible that you're simply feeling a little frightened of maintenance? it's a whole new challenge for many of us who have never really managed to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.
how are your clothes fitting blueby?

Yeah clothes are fitting fine, so I guess thats the way I should judge if Ive really gained/lost fat...
I spose it just doesnt feel right, eating more and losing/staying the same.
I trust my scale when it gives me good news.
I distrust it when it gives me bad news, especially when it's a sudden and odd bad news like an extra pound or two up.

Double Standard, possibly, but I also trust my body and my body is SHRINKING! :D

I am.. The Incredibly Shrinking HKellick! :D
Well, since I've started maintaining, I have not been weighing myself as obsessively, and whenever I see that the scale is just a little off, I just sort of trust that it will right itself again. The fluctuations don't matter that much, since this is going to be my weight that I am going to be sticking with for several years. And, for all that I might feel bigger, my clothes tell me otherwise (went down a size), so...

but I would also like to know what you used to be eating, and what you're eating now?
