trying to break a bad habit

Quote  |  Reply
Hi everyone,

I'm new to CC and trying to recover from anorexia. Lately I have been eating anywhere from 500-1000 calories everyday... never going over that. I know that I have a problem and am going to change because I am about to go home for the summer since school is almost over. My question is... how can I successfully up my calorie intake to a healthy amount without gaining an insane amount. I hear so many horror stories of ana's becoming obese because they went straight to eating normally after screwing up there metabolisms and was wondering if theres anything I can do to avoid that. If not... I guess I am willing to do whatever is needed... I just want to be healthy... Thank you for any advice

Try upping your calories 100 cals/day...

Say you ate 800 cals today... Eat 900 tomorrow... 1000 the next day... So on and so forth until you get to the right amount for your age/weight/height/exercise level
or adding even slower than that...100/week until you get to the your right amount....

weight gain will (most likely) occur...so dont freak out :D
Recovering from anorexia...Do you have a good dr?  Maybe you should ask to see a dietician...   You must be very disciplined and given a good healthy diet that you understand and approve of would be something you could conquer!   If I was trying to up my calories and gain wait slowly,  I would eat every two hours...  Good protein in the morning 300-400 calories... a fruit 100cal +  then lunch 300 - 500 calories then snack (2hrs.) fruit 100cal +  then your dinner 300 - ??  and then a snack of low fat or regular yoguart.. the calcium will help you relax and good for you...  Stay as much to regular good foods as you can.... Everything depends on what you do and your schedule so try to work with things that you can prepare for and you will be able to keep doing ... Tis is challenge a good and healthy lifestyle...whether it is gaining or loosing...W all just want to be able to be strong and healthy...  keep reading and digesting good information...   know the right things to eat and just up your portions slowly... the two hour thing keeps your metabolism rate up and you should eat at least 1200 calories a day...  of course!  Again depends your physical structure etc... that is why it would be good to work with a dietician... You are one special person and deserve to take care of yourself the Right Way!   Good luck on your quest to the happy,  healthy,  person you like to see in the mirror... my thoughts are with you!  ;-)
