Hello,

I have never started a topic before, but here goes it.  I am currently 19 weeks pregnant with my 4th child and am trying to have a healthy pregnancy.   My 3 previous pregnancies I was incredibly sick and was lucky to keep food down, much less be picky about what it was.  Because of the illness, i was unable to exercise.  This pregnancy is quite different.  I am not sick and I am hungry all the time.  I also have the opportunity to work out.  I am looking for some other moms-to-be that might want some pregnancy support, exercise check in, and baby chat during the next several months.

Good for you for having a positive outlook after some not-so-pleasant experiences. It's hard to stay upbeat about something when it's had an ill effect so many times in the past (pun intended!).

I am not pregnant anymore but I just wanted to let you know that I think the support here is great and that your mentality going into this pregnancy is fantastic.

Do you have all boys/all girls or a mix? You know the old wives tale...you get sick when pregnant with one sex and not with the other.

I have all girls.  We find out Monday if this one is following suit or not.

Hi i too am feeling great and hungry and able to exercise everyday, i already have a three year old boy. I felt great being pregnant with him too. I am 31 weeks pregnant and have put on about 17.5 lbs yikes!! but oh well thats the joy of growing a baby.

I wonder if you are having a boy since your pregnancy seems so different. i am glad you are feeling better this time around.

What exercise are you doing? and how much did you gain with your pregnancies?

Right now I am happily getting back into using my treadmill.  I wasn't sick early on, but I wasn't hungry.  I had to force myself to eat and I didn't want to burn calories when I wasn't taking in very many.

With my first I gained 12lbs.  I was so sick, it was awful.    My second I gained about 20 and had to be medicated so I could eat and keep food down twice a day.   My third, i wasn't as nausous, but i had bloodpressure issues too.  I gained about 25.  With this one I have gained 6 or 7 lbs.   Not too bad for 19 weeks.

31 . .  you are almost there.

I gained 50 with my first and that was even with exercise, but I was never sick.  I walked, and I had some a couple of pregnancy pilates videos that I used.  I'm trying for my second at the moment and am hoping that already being in the habit of counting calories will help me not to gain as much weight next pregnancy.

Good luck Kristi.  And enjoy trying.  It is the fun part after all.  Wink

I find out in less than 3 hours whether it is a boy or girl.  I am so nervous and excited.

I found cc helped in the first month when I wasn't eating much.  i could at least track what i was taking in and could see that burning calories in a workout just wasnt' reasonable.  Now that i am more interested in eating, I am using it to track to make sure i am getting equal carbs and protein.  And yes, trying to be reasonable without going way over in calories.  I wish they had a setting for pregnancy calories though.   I am not sure what a reasonable amount is.  I have read 200-300 more calories.   More than what?  I was dieting and eating 1200.  Does that mean 1500 is what I need?  Or do they mean 200-300 more than maintenance?   Right now I am just trying to only eat when I am hungry, not when I am craving.

You should be eating 200-300 calories over your maintenance calories.

I wonder what you're having... Laughing

17.5 pds is quite little.  You may only put on another 5-7 pds.  so when delivery comes along  you will instantly drop almost 12-14 pds!!  Your left ovewr weight will be small which you will be happy about

Ive had 3 babies and put on 26 pds, 22pds and 24 pds so I know almost exactly where your weight gain will be!

Good luck in labour and delivery!

Thanks spuckine,  you made my dayLaughing

I just had my first pregnancy confirmed yesterday.... and asked my Dr. about calories -- I've been eating 1200-1300 for about 20 months - (and lost 100 pounds)  my dr. told me for the first trimester I should be fine shooting for 1500-1600 - but would need to raise that a bit again later.

(BTW - I am two weeks away from being 40 and was considered "infertile"  SURPRISE!)

I am currently 26 weeks and have gained about 26 lbs so far! Double yikes!! My doctor said she was hoping that I would only gain 15 lbs through out the whole pregnancy since I was overweight when I got pregnant. But I have been hungry all the time, too. I have not gotten much exercise in, I admit. But to my defense it is usually only 10 degrees or below here in WI and I'm not about to go for a walk in that weather. I also do not have a gym membership. I would like to start exercising but don't know what to do and am usually tired after making dinner and just want to relax.

I have an ultrasound later today. They already told me I'm having a boy. Now they want to take another look at the spine, stomach, and heart because he was so active last time. I hope everything is ok!!!! Pray for me.

love2hatetreamills- What are you having????? Boy or girl???

Congratulations to everyone!

I'd like to know what love2hatetreamills is having as well!

shaye1984--I have a television channel called "Exercise TV On Demand" and that's what I'd use to work out to while pregnant. A friend of mine also let me borrow Leisa Hart's "Fit Mama" DVD which I really liked. They had women doing different variations of the exercises depending on what trimester they were in. I think the DVD also includes post-pregnancy exercises that can be done with your newborn. The same friend also gave me Shiva Rea's "Prenatal Yoga" DVD but it was too hippie-ish (for lack of a better word) for me. If you belong to Netflix, they have a ton of workout DVDs. Remember, you can break exercise up into several 10-minute sessions a day. I do lunges, squats and such while drying my hair! I walk circles in my house while talking on the phone and do sit ups and leg lifts during commercial breaks. Just remember: avoid exercises that require you to lay flat on your back and (of course!) on your tummy. Don't do high-impact aerobics or sports. My son was super active during my first ultrasound and I had to have a second one because they couldn't tell if I had a placenta previa. All was normal at my ultrasound in my third trimester. Good luck!

Girl number 4 is on her way!  Yup.  We found out yesterday.  I am restocking all the pink and girlie stuff. I haven't gotten on my treadmill, but I did do some serious power shopping yesterday.  That counts, right?

 Absolutely!

Congratulations! I love both of my children equally and dearly but it was much more fun shopping for my daughter than for my son. There seems to be fewer options for boys and it's all construction, dinosaurs, cars and dogs. Blah.

Have fun with the shopping! Your husband is horribly outnumbered (my dad was, too. We poured salt in the wound by getting two female dogs, as well). I'm sure he absolutely adores each and every one of his little princesses!

Congratulations again

Ok, so my husband is chronically in shape.  I mean couldn't put a pound on if he tried, and yes he has tried.  When I am not pregnant, this is both helpful and annoying.  He cooks really healthy meals, he worksout regularly, and he encorages me to do the same.  Of course, annoying because he loses weight without trying and I work my butt off for 5 months to lose like 7 pounds.

Tonight he made an awesome salad with lemon vinigrette dressing and grilled chicken.  Probably a whopping 250 calories.  Perfect for when I am working out and dieting.  But I am pregnant and starving.   I want to eat half the house and I feel so bad because I know he put in effort to make this healthy dinner for us.  I actually had to tell him "it was great, but now I need some food."  Isn't that just terrible?

Yes, girls have much better clothes.  And yes, I got a lot of them in the last 24 hrs.  Of course, I was moderately bummed because the clerk yesterday said that if i found the same items marked down lower today (yes, clearance shopper here) I could get a price adjustment.  So, I went back today and sure enough, I found 5 items marked down another 10-20%.  So, roughly $15 more off.  I take them to customer service with my receipt and am told by a rather smug sale associate and her manager that they don't do that.  I can however buy the outfits at today's price and then return the SAME OUTFITS I bought the day before.  What?  Wouldn't it be easier on us all if you just gave me a price adjustment?  Apparently that is just too much to ask.  UGH!

By any chance, were you at Macy's? Ugh, I have the hardest time shopping there! Every coupon or return is like pulling fingernails out! And the attitude...yuck.

On the food subject...I hear you. I was starving through my entire pregnancy and still am while breastfeeding. I have given up trying to reduce my calories and just eat healthy food whenever I'm hungry. I do have my days where I want to hit up the local burger joint and eat a triple cheeseburger and onion rings. I have yet to cave. I always make sure to have tons of apples, carrots, hummus and granola bars for when I just need to eat. He should understand...you're growing a human being!

He understood.  I just felt bad about it.  And, he did pick up a Dairy Queen Blizzard (so not healthy, I know) for me because I wanted something junky.

HI there! anyone here have cluster migraines throughout pregnancy?I have recently had 2 miscarriages silent at 9 weeks and a chemical one.I was worrying the hormones endes the pregnancy.I always get menstrual cluster migraines, why did they break through while pregnant???? Thank youx

Hi, ingrid12. You might get a better response from starting your own topic rather than posting on older threads.

It's common for women to have increased headaches/migraines during pregnancy. As a long-time migraine sufferer, mine actually went away completely during both of my pregnancies.

Cluster headaches aren't necessarily caused my menstruation. I would imagine any hormone changes could bring on cluster headaches/migraines and, boy, do we go through some major hormone changes while pregnant!

This might me something you want to talk to your OB about. I talked to my physician and he told me to journal about my migraines. Thanks to CC, I actually found out what foods triggered my migraines and cut them out of my diet. I have been migraine-free for many years. I do still get mild headaches but pain medication takes care of those!

Good luck!

i like this original post even though its kinda dated..  ive been on the hunt for books or articles specifically focused on exercising during pregnancy & even good exercises to do.
