Trying to help out BF with ridiculously good metabolism!
so my bf turned thirty this month and he is skinny. like i mean he wears a 31 waist with a belt and the belt makes the pants bunch up because he really isnt a 31! but he does eat like a horse, and never puts on weight, i honestly wish i could but whatever. He has tried weight gainer, it makes him sick, he has tried eating like 25 meals a day ( well exaggerated but you know ) i need advice, i want to help him out but i dont want him to know. i need some recommendations on what i can cook at home for dinners that will help him out. he is sick of being skinny and hates it when people say that he is. but its not bad weight , like he isnt anorexic, he was always like this. and i know its genetics because our 5 year old daughter is same way, tall and skinny, she wears 18 month waist pants, LOL. so i know that he will never be fat, but he wants to gain like 30 lbs. how can i help with out making him feel embarrased by me helping.
Have you checked out the list of high calorie foods thread? Maybe try incorporating more and more of those into his meals?
my biggest problem is making all the foods enjoyable. he will know im trying to sneak them all in, where do i find a list of those foods?
its so hard, he is trying to gain 30 and im trying to lose 30, having high calorie foods in house is going to be rough
My boyfriend is the same, he is 'too thin' and is trying out the protien powder shakes at the moment.. they make him feel ill too lol
Does your bf go to the gym? i think he probably just needs to build muscles since he obviously burns fat easily..
Me and my bf have started going to the gym, lifting weights, and i do the running stuff too since im trying to lose some weight that i put on since we met (2yrs ago).
Its funny because we had been going in the opposite direction, he slightly under and i slightly over lol. But he hates it so he is convinced building muscle will be the only way he will be 'bigger' which is true i think, because he has "no muscle" really.. so i dont think its a matter of being fatter but being "buffer".
Its fun at the gym, im enjoying it. Would it be hard to fit in 30min a day (or every second) -if you have a child and/or work? (if you havnt allready started going that is..)
It's hard because i cook for the two of us too, im going to start making different meals for the both of us.
Oh and the protein thing, if you are working out (alot of weights) you should be eating at least 1 - 1.6g of protein per kg of weight you are... otherwise just 65-120g will be sufficient (depending on how active you are), anything over wont really do anything unless your body is using it to make new muscle. (And if you dont eat enough your body starts 'eating' your muscles, maybe you know that allready though)
Im trying not to eat read meat as much since it has alot more fat than, say, chicken... im sure (if you are concerned about your weight?) that if you cook poulty more often then he gets the protein and you dont have to worry about the fats, just let him have more pasta (or something) so he gets more calories and carbs. Oh and carbs bind the fat cells which makes it 'difficult' to burn off, if that helps too.
K, i think thats all i've got for now n_n
I am a hardgainer as many of you have detailed through these postings. We are pre-disposed to be our sleek sizes. If we ever did want to gain weight, often times it does take a little bit more than our well rounded friends. It's tough, but with a little extra discipline and knowledge, one can gain weight without extreme measures. I have a blog that talks about this very topic, if you ever free to take a look. I highly suggest it.

I do understand why society has focused on the epidemic of obesity, since many people do suffer iller fates as a result of being overweight. But still, It would be nice for some of us hardgainers to get some attention on the national scope like we are in this gathering of minds. There just isn't enough information or knowledge out there to guide us through our lifestyle.
