I am interested in finding others who have been struggling for a long time with losing the "last 10 lbs". . I've been battling to lose 10 lbs for many years. Actually, I've lost 10 in the last year but I needed to lose 20 a year ago (not just 10).
I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons. I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably. I may want to go on to a size 6 next.
I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated. Maybe we can share ideas and recipes.
Let me know if you are out there and interested.

Good morning,
Did not stick to my plan yesterday. I had a huge peanutbutter and chocolate sundae. I am blaming it on my TOTM. I will have to come up with a consequence.
Today I ran 5 miles and felt pretty good about that. I plan to do pilates this afternoon and also walk. It is very humid in Pennsylvania right now and I have to hit the running by 7AM. It feels so good when you are finished and in the shower.
I hope everyone keeps posting. It really is motivating to hear that there are people working with you to reach a similiar goal.
Good luck!

Hi everyone, I was away for the weekend and didn't have a computer!
Dievans, toniahayes- thank you for checking in. Since the wedding I have been eating quite a bit more than usual. You would think that having to be in a bathing suit would motivate me but it doesn't. Instead I just don't go swimming. Which is sad. So, today I started off well. It's a new day and a new week. I hope I can eat well and stay motivated this week!
Amyb3517 - I think whoopass is in order! Hahaha! I defenitely need a kick in the bum!
Goal for today - eat 1250 calories. Climb stairs.

Wow, Tonia, that's quite a consequence you're giving yourself! I think it's time to try that approach too. But like the rewards that Di suggested earlier, I think the consequence must not involve food. More stick, less carrot!
I'll start today with a consequence. I intended to take it easy last weekend but went to another summer barbecue and overdid it on the hostess's delicious cookies. So my consequence is to walk to the grocery store for my week's fruit and veg run instead of driving there. It's supposed to be in the 90s today, so that'll teach me!
Di, thanks for being such a diligent poster. I really like this board too and feel lucky and happy that you gals are so honest and supportive. I haven't weighed myself since last week so hopefully the water weight has subsided. I have a doctor's appointment (checkup) tomorrow and they're going to weigh me there so I'm bracing myself for a shock - it's easy for the home scale to vary from the doctor's scale by a few pounds, and for some reason in the wrong direction!
Mcp, where are you? I miss you too. And I hope Nalani, platinumbutterfly, vcooper and others continue to read and post.
Amyb, wowie zowie on the bagpipe lessons! That's really great. Are bagpipes very heavy? (The calorie-counter in me of course wonders if hoisting a bagpipe counts as weight-bearing exercise!)
Report for weekend: Ate way too many cookies and did not exercise enough. My consequence is a trek to the store today for fruits and vegs.
Goals for Monday: 1300 calories, 2 workouts, 40 pushups.
Biggest challenge: staying hydrated in the summer heat.
Have a great day, everyone!

Today I met my goals: stayed on modified fat-flush; ran 3 miles; went to pilates; didn't have to wash hubby's car.
Tomorrow: swim 600 meters; tri-exercise class; stay on fat-flush plan.
Consequence for not meeting goals: wash husbands car
Nice to have you back, TRixitrix. I love your consequence... hope you don't have to do that one again.
Mcpchants, sounds like you are back in the saddle. We are counting on you to eat well and stay motivated this week. When you stay motivated, it helps me. I hope that when I stay motivated, it helps you. Let's do it to help one another.
Have a great evening everyone! You all have become very special friends that I look forward to hearing from.

Amy, Hope you are doing well. If you burned 850 calories on your bike, you may need more than what you are consuming. Maybe you should go back and check your allowances and don't go less than a 750 calorie deficit. What do you think? Maybe that's why you went on the eating spree....
Hope to hear from you soon....

Hello everyone!
I did BodyPump this morning and plan on a 60 minute walk this evening. I did well yesterday with calories, so I have a plan for today and I will stick to it.
I do have a dilemma though. Both of my closest workout partners are pregnant! It was not too big of a deal, but now the one is 16 weeks and the other is 14 weeks and they cannot work out at the level that they did before. From what I understand, body temperature is the biggest concern. Any way, they will be gaining weight and I don't want to talk too much about my goal of losing weight. I am not sure how to handle this. I guess I will have to just go with the flow.
Good luck!

This forum is great for helping us keep on track! Whenever I feel like a binge, I can come on here and be reminded that I am not alone!
Yesterday - Ate well and little during the day since I was meeting friends for dinner. We went to a restaurant where you select your food then they cook it all together (Mongolian Village). Anyway, I loaded up on veggies and lean protein - turkey. It was really good!

Hi all! Got a clean bill of health at my annual exam and was pleasantly surprised with the weigh-in - my scale is only .3 pounds less than the doctor's! For my purposes though, I won't worry about that discrepancy. I still lost 3 pounds. Time to get in gear though.
Tonia, is your husband rubbing his hands together like an old-time movie villain? It's too bad his car's going to stay dingy for a while!
Di, what an unusual dilemma you're in. I mean, if one of your workout partners got pregnant, but two at once - let me know how you adjust your workout to accomodate them but also without cheating yourself.
Mcp - glad you're back on track and that you're back on the forum!
Report for monday: Stayed within calorie goals and workouts but did not do pushups.
Today's goals: 1400 calories, 1 workout, 40 pushups.
Biggest challenge: I'm going to a baseball game tonight. Oh dear. The plan is to eat dinner before we go and to put blinders on walking by the concession stands!
Have a great day!

Whoops, I need a consequence for not doing pushups yesterday. I'm going to take out the trash ... the long way around.
I really should just meet my goals today - honestly!

DRESS IS IN EVERYONE!!!! IT'S CRUNCH TIME!!! I ordered 3 bikinis and they all came in...... I need to do some crunching.. I am going to pick up the dress after work... thank goodness I ran 3 this am.
Scott (my better half) and I went for a 5 miler on Sunday... 1st mile - 9:36, 2nd mile 8:55 (whoopee!!) and the 3rd - 9:10.... he made me a deal... if I could do the 4th in under 9:15, I could walk the 5th mile.... so I did a 9:02........................................H azah? is that what we say? anyway, the weight is still hovering at 140, but hopefully that pretty white dress will give me some motivation. I will post a pic if I can....
Have a great day everyone. Yesterday I was within my 1250 and today's goal is 1201....

Accomplished my goals today so I guess I won't have to wash the hubby's car.
Trixi, hubby doesn't know that is a consequence for me... I wouldn't dare tell him for fear of him sabatoging my weight-loss efforts. Also, I hope you had a good trip to the store.
Di, I can relate to the summer heat thing and getting out before 7am. About the problem, does "go with the flow" mean getting pregnant? Maybe you can introduce your workout partners to one another so they can workout together and you can find a new workout partner for the time being. Or, just get pregnant. He He
Amy, can't wait to see that dress. Let me know when you have the picture up. I still haven't figured out that picture thing. Great times one the 5 miler!
Wednesday goal: Weigh-in
Exercise: House cleaning; 10 - 15 mile bike on hills, weather permitting; if not, gym for pilates
Eating Goal: Continue modified fat-flush; seems to be working as I was down lower than I've been in a while on the scale this morning
Consequence for not meeting tomorrow's goals: Wash hubby's car. I'll pick another consequence if I ever have to do this one. So far it is giving me incentive to stick to my goals.
Have a great day everyone.

Weigh-In: 142 down -3 lbs. since our beginning. I'm really pleased with this because I've only been this low once this summer before my beach trip with the teenagers.
I haven't reached my goal of 10 lbs. but I am on my way. What this forum has done for me is help me spot my trouble areas and now I am working at dealing with those. Apparently, they have been trouble areas for years, and that is how i've found myself with this excess weight. The plan is to eliminate them and create a life-style change that will keep the weight off. It may be slower than I would like, but I want it to be permanent.
Looking forward to everyone's post.
Tonia

Good job amyb and toniahayes! I am happy to hear things are going well for you!
I on the other hand have completely lost any motivation that I had. I haven't worked out in 3 weeks and have been eating really bad.
I'm that girl who can't say no these days. I miss the girl who used to be able to say no to chips at 10pm! I'm back where I was two years ago: not exercising and eating bad and not being able to help it. AH!

Weigh in down -3, which means I am up a pound from last week. I am a little bummed about that.
Tonia,
No way am I getting pregnant! I am 39 with two teenagers, that is plenty. I guess your husband's car will just have to stay dirty. Can you give a little more info on the modified fat-flush? Just curious, maybe that is what I need.
Trixie,
Glad to hear you got a good report from your doctor. That in itself is motivating to keep up with the healthy habits. How was the baseball game? The soft pretzels always seem to call my name.
Mcp,
Chin up girl. Write down all the things you have accomplished. Maybe this break of a couple of weeks is exactly what your body needed and you will break through the last 10 pounds. We are only human and we do the best we can.
Amyb,
How exciting. Please post photos or at least describe this dress! How motivating to have your dress to look at everyday. You can do this. We are here for you.
As for me, goals are to bike 12 miles (done), 20 minutes of core work (done), and a 30 minute walk this evening. I also plan to stay within 1350.
Good luck!

Tonia, great job on your weigh-in and thanks for your insight.
Mcp, I am imagining you singing "Cain't say no" from Oklahoma.
Today's weigh in: -3 total, no change from last week. Meh!
Report from yesterday: Completed all my goals; no consequence today!
Goal for today: 1300 calories; 2 workouts and 40 pushups.

Hey Di - the baseball game was a lot of fun on a summer evening! I'm a fan of soft pretzels with mustard and hot dogs. I didn't eat either of them! I'm at -3 too, after gaining a pound last week. Do you think we're all hitting a plateau?
Good job trixitrix!
My problem is i'm motivated in the day but as soon as I get home I don't want to do anything. I will try my best though. You girls motivate me when I read these posts!

mcpchants, I can relate. I used to do this with wine when I was in a very stressful work enviroment. I would come home, pour a glass of wine & begin eating cheese. Then, the motivation to do anything productive went out the window. My friend, the counselor, told me I was medicating and I needed to change the routine. She asked me, where do you drink the wine (or for you: where do you eat the chips)? I told her the back porch, she said to change it up by not allowing myself to drink wine on the back porch. It helped to change that routine. Not sure if that will help you.
I always seem to lose motivation when my good routines are disrupted. Has anyone else had that problem? If so, what do you suggest?
Dievans, there a book called the fat-flush. It's a cleanse type diet that has you eliminating foods and then adding them back to see the bodies reaction. It was written by Gittleman. There are three phases. I say I'm on a modified fat-flush because I eat a little more fruit & carbs because of exercise.
Phase I
You drink pure cranberry with water and 1 T. of flax in the am
Lemon juice with hot water
1 cup of organic coffee is a "legal cheat"
8 oz of protien per day
2 Omega 3 eggs (eggland's best)
2 T. Flax oil a day (i make a dressing out of flax oil & cider vinegar)
All the vegetables you want except for starchy vegetable
2 Fruits (I eat a little more than 2)
I modify it by adding brown rice and Ezekial bread (which is okay in phase two)
She says not to exercise in phase one except for daily walks and minitramp to rid the body of toxins.
This program ( I did for two weeks) helped me break my last plateau. I actually did the walking and minitrap because I wasn't preparing for a race.
Also, I forgot, NO Alcohol, No artificial sweetners, Etc. I guess to give the liver a break and stimulate it to metabolize fat

Wow-
This is the club for me!
Why the heck can't I take off these last ten pounds?
I am losing like a 1/3 of a pound a week!! It's ridiculous!
I religiously count calories and I can't figure out what else today besides trying something drastic like cutting out all sugars!
Has anyone ever heard the last word on that? Is it truly just calories in - calories out. or does sugar make a difference?

Hey cmama! Nice you could join us. Even though it's only 1/3 pound, I'm impressed that you're losing consistently every week! I've cut out refined sugar and products with high fructose corn syrup. I don't know if that makes a difference as far as weight loss goes, but I'd rather spend calories on stuff that has nutrients in it.
Tonia, my husband's going to be out of town for a couple weeks in a couple months - that would be the perfect time to try your modified fat flush.
Report for Wednesday: accomplished goals, so I don't have to make up a consequence! Huzzah!
For Thursday: 1400 calories, 2 workouts, 40 pushups.
Challenge: hydration.
