I am interested in finding others who have been struggling for a long time with losing the "last 10 lbs". . I've been battling to lose 10 lbs for many years. Actually, I've lost 10 in the last year but I needed to lose 20 a year ago (not just 10).
I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons. I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably. I may want to go on to a size 6 next.
I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated. Maybe we can share ideas and recipes.
Let me know if you are out there and interested.

I'm definitely up for that! The in-laws leave on Sunday so I will be able to get back in the full swing of things. It sounds like a great idea.
Amy, Thanks for posting the suggestion.
I'll have to think about this one. I don't want to see anyone scared away by too much structure. It's so easy to give up or not show up when you haven't done your homework. I feel this forum has offered accountability, motivation and individuality. We all know what we need to do to lose weight, it's just a matter of doing it. I will do it if the others want to do it, but I can almost see myself getting overwhelmed. If we choose not to do it here, I would probably come over to your other thread to try it to see if I can keep that much structure in my life but keep this Forum going because I look forward to it everyday and it is working for me.
I'll be interested in other's opinion.

Steph, congrats on the 4lbs. I does seem to be the hot number.
Yesterday: Was crazy since I had 20 ladies coming for a party. I didn't keep a calorie count but I really tried to eat sensibly. I am going to take a consequence for not keeping a calorie total because I really want to break the habit of not writing down what I put into my mouth. I've read that those who write it down all much more successful at losing the weight.
Today: I guess it's out to the yard to weed the 6 beds. I am not going to do a regular workout becasue I am tapering for tomorrow's Triathlon. The weeding should be a good stretch. I am also going to try to get to the store to buy that Nightie for being down on the scale this week.
Calories: 1400
Consequence: No celebration drink after the race.

Does anyone know what happened to Amy's plan... it was posted and now I can only see her name but not the post? It's the strangest thing.
Hey amyb! I didn't get to read your plan...it seems to have disappeared off the board.
And....Good Luck, ohio45! Glad you could join us.
So I'll just do things like I've always done -
Report for Thursday: Met goals, do not have to clean ovens.
Goals for Friday: 1300 calories, 1 workout, pushups.
Biggest challenge: going out tonight, of course. *sigh*
Have a great Friday, everyone!

How can a post just disappear off of the board? Are we able to take our post off? I've never seen this happen before... If it doesn't come back up, I will contact tech support to find out what happened.
Hi Ohio 45, and welcome to this forum. Truth be known, I would like to go beyond the 10 lb. loss, but like you, 10 lb increments seem do-a-ble.
We wish you all the luck and blessings in your goals. We will be here for you if you need us. You are already doing great!! Keep up the excellent work.

P.S. Trixi, I am so glad that you didn't have to clean the oven!! I cleaned mine yesterday because 20 women were coming to my house for a cooking demo and the demonstrator was going to open my oven in front of all of those ladies. Can you imagine?!
Thanks also for all of your great words of encouragement.
Thanks also for all of your great words of encouragement.
I copied and pasted Amy's plan (so that I could have it to print out) so here it is:
Week #1 - Net Calories - Each day (or at the beginning of the week for the whole week, Sunday to Saturday) post what you think your NET calories should be/want to be
Eg. 1,700 calories consumed - 300 calories burned from exercise ONLY (not normal calorie expenditure) = 1,400 NET for the day.
Week #2 - Exercise - Each day post what you are going to do for the day in terms of exercise
Eg. Monday goal - 45 minutes elliptical trainer + 30 minutes weight lifiting
Week #3 - Water Consumption & Net Calories - Post how much water you consume in a day~~I think it's supposed to be somewhere near 8-10 8oz glasses a day--- for the net calories, see #1.
Week #4 - Food Diversification - Eating from the food groups and posting how close you stay to your goals (this will be a little time consuming, but worth it, if you tend to go over with salt, fat, carbs, etc)
Eg. Protein % of daily, Carbs - % of daily, Fat - % of daily, total mg of Sodium, gms of cholesterol, and alcohol consumption (you can cut and paste your analysis page onto the forum, and delete what you don't need)
Week #5 - How many days in a row can you go? You post at the beginning of the week what you are going to do.....
Eg. for this week, I am going to try and stay withing my net calorie goals for 6 days straight, or I am going to try and exercise 5 days straight, or do 100 pushups every morning for 7 days in a row, or I am going to drink ALL my water for 6 days straight, or I am not going to consume alcochol for 7 days straight....We all have committments, family, etc, so I thought it best to give a choice, in case we are on vacation, family parties, etc.... you should still be able to acciomplish SOMETHING good for yourself for a bunch of days in a row!
Week #6 - Net Calories & exercise - again, post at the beginning of the week or each day.
Week #7 - Exercise and Water - see above
Week #8 - Surprise!!!
I took the framework for this from another challenge that started May 30 and is going to end this weekend. I participated, and I feel that it really helped me lose the 10lbs. (credit goes to undertherainbow..... she is amazing:)
Post your name if you want to participate, or if you think we should just do what we're doing and I'll move this over to another thread..... I just think that you ladies on this particular thread would do well with something like this, because we all need a little structure, but need to diversify as well so as not to get obsessed or bored. If you all want, we will start on Sunday July 29, 2007. Post your current weight (if you dare)~~~~ NO Excuses!!

sorry guys, I may have done that inadvertantly myself.....
Anyway, this was just an idea, and I am more than willing to move things around... also, I didn't WANT to put it all down right away, I was going to do it a week at a time, so as not to intimidate or scare anyone......
Plus, there would be the element of surprise....
so is there interest, or should I move it over somewhere?

Hey Amy! That is an ambitious plan. I'm willing to give it a go, but I think it should be on another thread, so that 1) we can keep on keeping on in this thread and 2) other CCers might want to join in the plan.
That said, I'm interested to see the plan in action. I've never done anything that ambitious before, but we'll see!
Tonia, I think that having an audience come to look inside my appliances happened in a nightmare once. I think I could handle peeking in the oven, but if it was the refrigerator I'd have to slink away and hide! :-p

Trixi, You crack me up. I know what you mean about the refrigerator :-(
Also, it was very well said about going to another thread to do Amy's plan. I am willing to give it a go to but don't want to stop this forum.
Wish me luck for the Triathlon in morning. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Have a great weekend!

I have been struggling to lose the last 10+ lbs for a number of years since I originally lost about 70lbs in 1998. I even had a baby during that time. Right now I have about 15 lbs to lose to get to my goal weight. I am 5'1" and I am weighing in today at 134. I was at 131 the middle of last week. I am averaging 1500 calories a day according to CC and exercise with circuit training daily videos 6x a week. I am actually gaining and not losing. I have been monitoring my calories because I figured I was eating too much and once I did that my weight would drop. It just isn't happening.
Then I decided to stop eating after 8pm, I tend to eat til right up to bed. It never really messed me up before but I thougt maybe it was. That did not help I kept gaining. I started to eat again at night about 5 days ago. At first I dropped a couple lbs and now gained it back plus a few ounces more.
I am so frustrated. I am so tired of putting so much energy into daily exercise and worrying about what I am going to eat every day when it seems everyone else eats whatever the hell they want and seem happy.
I am obsessed and it consumes much of my day, and it isn't even working. I read a lot of these posts and I see I am not the only one struggling like this.
I am currently about a size 8, sometimes 10 depending on the manufacturer. I was at a size 4 a couple years ago. At Christmas this year I was a size 6. I am going in the opposite direction and haven't really changed my eating habits. If anything, I think I eat healthier now than ever. I never eat fast food burgers and only little nibbles of french fries. I always eat salads and go easy on condiments.
I am sorry this is so long. I just need to tell someone who feels my frustration. No one around me understands. They think I should just be fine with my weight. But I am not.
I weigh myself daily and that only seems to make me depressed. It effects my mood for the whole day. If the number is up I am down, if the number is down I am up. I am so tired of this rollercoaster ride.
I also find it almost impossible to live on 1300 calories a day and be satisfied. I suppose it is what I need to do though.
Thanks for bearing with me til the end of this post!

Tonia, it's 10 am where I am - so I'm guessing you're doing your Tri right now......you are awesome! I hope you get a celebration drink afterwards.
Mburns, thanks for reposting Amy's plan. It's your last day with your in-laws, yes? Food choices notwithstanding, I hope it was a nice visit but that you can get back into your old routine soon.
Ohio45, congratulations on your weight loss so far! I think you're doing great. Good luck this weekend - weekends are a "red zone" for me too.
Di, great job on the -4 pounds and hope you had enough ventilation when you stripped your cabinets!
Amy, when do you want to put the plan in action?
cc1170, I know it's frustrating - it's frustrating for me too. When I went to my friend's wedding a couple weeks ago, I fell off the wagon and promptly put on weight. It's just so easy to put it on. I've shifted my mind set lately regarding eating habits and exercise. Instead of thinking that these things are tools to achieve a goal, I've been thinking about how good a nutritious diet and regular, vigorous exercise are for my health in the long term. It's a small change, but it keeps me from feeling deprived or tortured. Instead, I feel like I'm doing something good for myself and my future self. Anyway, I'm glad you can join us and hope you continue posting.
Report for Friday: Ohio45, I am pleased to tell you that going out did not derail my diet last night! I alternated club soda with alcoholic drinks and ate a light, sensible dinner before I went out so I survived Friday okay. Met calorie and exercise goals.
Goal for Saturday: 1400 calories, 2 workouts, pushups.
Consequence for not meeting goals: clean those ovens.
Biggest challenge: going out this afternoon; must keep away from snacks.
Have a great Saturday, everyone, and Tonia, hope your Tri was as fabulous as you are!
