I am interested in finding others who have been struggling for a long time with losing the "last 10 lbs". . I've been battling to lose 10 lbs for many years. Actually, I've lost 10 in the last year but I needed to lose 20 a year ago (not just 10).
I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons. I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably. I may want to go on to a size 6 next.
I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated. Maybe we can share ideas and recipes.
Let me know if you are out there and interested.

Ohio 45 and Trixitrix thanks for your encouragement and ideas. It is so nice to be heard and have someone understand my struggles. I do think that I am super sensitive to sodium as well. I didn't think I ate that much until I started tracking here and I am usually under 3000 per day but usually pretty close to it. My weight is like yo-yo and I think that is the cause.
I know I need to drink more water, I don't even come close to where I should be and that is my new goal. I need to focus much more on that as well as keeping up my diet and exercise goals.
I went to Red Lobster for dinner last night and didn't really go overboard which is huge for me. I split an appetizer and entree with my hubby and did not order dessert. We went to a movie after that and didn't get any popcorn which is amazing. He almost always does and then I can never keep my hands off it. He just wasn't hungry we were still full off dinner. But that usually doesn't stop him. I don't know if I could have stayed strong with it right next to me. But it was weird not munching on food during the movie. It was a long one too. I am proud of how I did. My wight was even down this morning. I am surprised considering the sodium I had to have consumed at dinner last night. Everything was salty.
Sundays are hard for me too. They are usuallys spent relaxing and when I do that I am hungrier than normal and want to snack all day long. Let's hope for a good day.

Hi everyone,
The Triathlon went great! My total time for the .25 mi swim, 7 mile bike, 2 mile run was 1:01:55.10. I was 38 out of 80 women. And 91 out of 180 men and women. I guess you could say I am an average Triathlete. I was really thrilled that my swim was 5th place out of 80 women. I was disappointed with my biking during the Tri. My gears didn't seem to be working properly and my husband said my tires were not inflated as well as they should have been. Oh well...
Amy, Please let us know where your going to post the new plan. I would like to try it, but not sure how consistent I will be.
Dievans, Where are you?
Ohio45: Great Job on staying with your plan and reaching your goals. You are awesome!! So glad to have you posting on this forum. Looking forward to your success and encouragement.
CC1170: Welcome. Are you consuming 1500 calories minus the exercise calories burned? Or, are you consuming 1500 + eating extra calories for exercise? How long have you been doing the same exercise routine? Have you mixed it up any? My, Anti-Aging-Doctor- Friend says that weight loss has to do with 5 things: Eating, Exercise, Sleep, Rest & Hormones. If you know you are eating right (this is my downfall) and exercising (not my downfall), then, you may want to question the other areas. Are you sleeping well? Do you give your muscles time to repair between workouts? If you do, then you might want to consider having a saliva test for horomones. Sometimes, maybe in my case, we crave stuff because of hormonal issues. I plan to have the test done anyway if I can get off of my behind and do it. Hope this might give you some idea
Report for Friday: I wrote down everything that went into my mouth but have not calculated the calories yet. I rested, which was the plan. I did reward myself for the weeks weight-loss success. I still need to do my consequence weeding. Maybe I should have consequences for not doing consequences in a timely manner.
Saturday: This was a free day because of the Triathlon but I didn't go overboard, except with salt which showed on the scale this morning.
Sunday: So far, so good. Going to a gourmet food party and could probably really blow it. My plan to stay in control: I like the soda/ wine thing: I will stop and buy some Peirre Water to put on ice and drink in between wine. I will taste and not eat mindlessly. I will have a salad for dinner and drink lots of water the rest of the day.

i didn't read every single post so someone might have already suggested this but you can try calorie cycling
what you do is take the amount of cal you should eat to lose weight, 1300 per day for instance, multiply that by 7 days per week (9,100calories) Then switch up your daily intake throughout the week to keep your metabolism on it's toes, but without going over 9,100 cal for the week (or whatever your decided total is)
EXAMPLE: monday: 1200cal, tuesday: 1400cal, wednesday:1100, thursday: 1500, friday: 1300, saturday: 1200, sunday: 1400... of course it doesn't have to be by even #'s though, that's just an example

Hello everyone!
I went away for a few days and did not have access to the computer. I really blew it on Thursday and Friday, but I did better on Saturday and Sunday. I worked out every day, but on Friday we spent the day at Hershey Park,( a great amusement park here in Central PA). All I can say is Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake. It was heaven! Of course, I did not even want to try to compute the calories.
I am going to try to run 7 miles tomorrow and get back on 1300 calories and increase my water intake. I really need to drink more water.
Congratulations Tonia! You placed excellent in the swim! You should be so proud! I try to get my bike a checkup before a big event, but sometimes you just don't have time.
Kiwistar, I love the idea of calorie cycling. I have never heard of that before. Maybe that would allow us the flexibility we need on the weekends or during special events.
cc1170, congratulation on doing great a Red Lobster. I love those biscuits that they serve. Good job in the self-control department!

The in-laws left last night so I'm ready to get back into my routine! Of course it's raining buckets today, so my hopes for a nice outdoor run are dashed to bits. Hopefully it will stop by the time I get out of work.
Have to run- just wanted to jump in quickly.
Amy- let us know where the new thread is!

Hi everyone,
I pigged out this weekend after the Triathlon on SALT. I was up 6 lbs. on the scale this morning from my last weigh-in!! I know it will come off in a day or two. It's also TTOM. My clothes are still fitting the same so I know it's a false reading. I think we have to remember that sometimes, epecially with salt consumption. So, Wednesday weigh-in should be real interesting. I didn't set any consequences for this weekend. My consequence was feeling like crud both Sunday and Monday morning.
I did my weeding consequence in the front yard this morning. Yippee! Now I still have the back yard to do. I will get to that tomorrow morning and hopefully will toe-the-line today so I don't have "compound consequences".
Ohio45, The swim was in a lake with a time-trial start, which means that every 10 seconds a person leaves. My last Tri swim was in the Gulf of Mexico and the swimmers left in "Waves" of about 40 people. There are Triathlons everywhere. I would be surprized if you didn't have some in your area.
Today's Plan: Drink lots of water. Run for 33 min. with 10 min warm-up/cool-down (done); 10 min. weight workout (done); Eat 1400 calories. No sugar; No alcohol. Write everything down and calculate it.
Consequence for not meeting goals: Weed the largest bed in the front yard.
Biggest Challenge: I don't foresee any major challenges.
Look forward to reading everyones posts. Have a great day!

Good morning everyone!
I could not motivate myself this morning to run, so I went to the gym. I did a great BodyStep class and caught up with some of my friends from the gym. I am eating pretty well so far, but still need to add more water. I think I need to come up with a system for water intake. If I do a good job Mon. thru Thurs., I think I will shop for a new outfit for the first day of school. If I mess up I think I will make myself clean the inside of my car. It really needs some serious attention, but I hate doing it.
I guess that is all for right now! Good luck!

Good morning!
Not much time this morning, so:
Sunday report: drank too much wine and did not meet calorie goals. Will clean the oven today.
Monday goals: 1250 calories, 1 workout, pushups.
Consequence for not meeting goals: vacuum house, under furniture (not just around). Time for heavy lifting!
Challenge: hydration.

i don't know how you guys stay satisfied on 1200 calories, no matter how hard I try I am always at around 1500. I do exercise 5+ days a week. I circuit train mostly.
I wish I was that disciplined. I ended up eating chocolate and ice cream last night. My period is coming and I always get cravings that get the best of me. The ice cream was low fat and it was one reese cup and a mini size hershey bar. I also had a bag of Smart pop popcorn. Not great, but not an overly bad binge either.
I am trying to be better today, though I am craving sweets. Probably because I gave in yesterday. I did exercise and went swimming with my dd today. I definately got some exercise, I am hoping it all balances out. My weight was up about 1lb this morning from the weekend. I am trying to get myself super motivated again like I was 2 weeks ago, I am finding it difficult though.
I just keep reading your posts and hoping they will jumpstart me.

CC1170, I am with you on the 1200 calories. I can make it on 1400 but 1200 sends me to bed hungry. I have noticed that I'm less hungry on lower calories if I consume high fiber foods.
I, too, have a hard time staying motivated, that is why i do the race events. The competitive side of me refuses to show up to an event and not be able to finish it with as least looking like I didn't kill myself. In order to do that, I know I have to train for it which gets me exercising daily. Not sure if that will be something that would help you, but I thought I would throw it out there.
Trixi, you'll be glad you cleaned that oven. Hope you don't have to vacuum under those couches.
Dievans, sometimes it amazes me how similar our lives seem. I love going to body step on hot days and connecting with my gym friends also.
Have a great evening everyone. I going to try not to make a pig out of myself at dinner. Doing good so far today.

CC1170- I'm the same with the calories. I need at least 1500 to function. Otherwise I'm just miserable to be around.
Ohio45- A little belated, but congratulations on getting past your goal. Isn't it amazing how great that it feels to see a weight below your goal?
Tonight I'm heading to the gym for the first time in WEEKS. I am actually so excited to go. Hopefully I'll be as motivated by the end of the day as I am right now. I did forget my Ipod though, which completely bums me out. Somehow it's so much easier to run when I'm listening to music. Oh well, hopefully I can get a treadmill close to the tv! In addition to my first gym trip in ages, it will also be my first weigh in.... don't have a scale at home, so I only get to weigh myself at the gym. A little nervous because the clothes have been a big snug lately (more than usual!).
Started off eating well for dinner last night. Then spotted the Oreo cookies (left behind from my in-laws) and ate some. Okay, like 6. Bad bad bad!
Hope everyone has a good day.

Tonia, well, the oven needed it but I didn't have to like it! You had a great result on your swim time - I'm really happy for you.
Ohio45, it sounds like a good idea to drink water to offset any excess salt from the weekend.
Di, I hope the back to school planning is going smoothly.
cc1170, I eat lots of high fiber foods to stay within the calorie range. Fiber and water seem to do the trick....
Anyway, Monday report: Stayed within calorie goals, did 1 workout and pushups.
Tuesday goals: 1350 calories, 2 workouts (played tennis this morning, so one done!), 40 pushups.
Consequence: vacuuming under furniture.
Challenge: It is hot and humid today, so hydration again.
Have a great day!

Mburns18: Welcome back! You go, Girl!! Today is a new day!! Don't forget to subtract the clothing for the weigh-in. Why don't you have a scale? How many calories do six Oreo Cookies have?
Btw, I was down two pounds this morning from the weekend's salt weight. Hope my weigh-in Wednesday is down.
Trixi: How does it feel when you look inside that clean oven?
Monday report: met all goals
Tuesday goals: Weight workout chest, sides, and stomach; Weed three beds in back yard; Two hours of house cleaning. !400 Calories- write down & record everything I eat.
Biggest Challenge: Distractions during house cleaning; will turn on music and will not answer the phone. I will set timer to stay focused.
Consequence: Weeding three more beds in the front yard.

Good morning everyone,
It is so hot and humid in PA. I ran 4 miles this morning at 7:30 and it was already 84 degrees. I then strength trained for about 20 minutes. My goal for today is to also get a 30 minutes swim in and keep within 1300 calories.
Ohio, congrats on surpassing your goal! Good for you. I love walking/running in different parks. It takes your mind off the work.
cc1170, icecream and reese's pb cups are two of my favorite splurges. Good for you for not going crazy. I also struggle with the calories. I am trying to stick with 1300, but keep messing up. I may have to go back to 1400.
mburns, hope you had a good time at the gym and I also hope all the oreos are gone now. Maybe you should have a good friend go through your kitchen and make sure all the unhealthy temptations are gone. I know I couldn't do it myself. I would probably eat the goodies as I went along.
Trixi, I get so excited about the start of school. It is going very well and I hope to have about 4 weeks completely ready by the time the first day rolls around on Aug 28th.
Tonia, How did dinner go? My son is at basketball camp and my daughter was at a friend's house for dinner, so my husband and I found ourselves alone. We went out for an unplanned dinner. I had a wonderful grilled crab cake sandwich, but I should have asked for a salad or vegetables. Instead I ate over half of these fabulous beer batter dipped homemade fries. I don't even think you can call them french fries. They were more like potato wedges. They were incredible. I usually don't give into those kinds of things, but I did last night. I didn't even get on the scale this morning. I just put on the running shoes.
Well, gotta go. Drink lots of water today especially if you are on the East Coast. Hazy, hot and humid....................

Dievans, I didn't pig-out at dinner but stayed within the 1400 calorie goal. I think it was around 1399.99 :-)
Don't know how many calories were in the Oreos. I have to look tonight and figure out what a serving is. Wasn't clear on the counter here.
No reason for not having a scale except we never bought one. I am a little afraid that if I have one I'll get obsessed and weigh myself a thousand times a week. Having it only at the gym keeps me better about having a "weigh in" every week, and then I can't obsess about it. We probably should get one though, because my husband and I both need to get some sort of motivation!
Di- It amazes me every time I read your posts how much you get done in a day! Having summers off must be so great. The weekend comes and I know I should be doing things around the house but instead I end up sitting on the couch watching tv because I'm to tired!
I'll let you all know how the gym goes tonight. My goal is to lift (upper body) and run 2 miles. I want to start of slowly since I haven't done anything in a while.....

I have been trying to lose 10 pounds forever. I am not a big person and people probably think I am crazy when I tell them that I want to lose weight. I actually don't care if I lose 10 pounds or not, but I really want to learn how to eat properly and not be controlled by food. I lost about 20 pounds a few years ago and so far I have been able to keep most of it off. I think I have gained about 5 pounds or so since then. That doesn't seem like a lot but when you are trying to fit comfortably in the same size clothes as 5 pounds ago, you can feel the difference. I workout about three times a week, either at the gym or running or some sort of sport. I start to mess up when I tell myself that I can afford to splurge on something because I have done some exercise and that sort of defetes the purpose. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who wants to firm up and just start eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle. Not necessarily to lose weight, but to just be healthy.
cnpaterson- I'm kind of the same way. I'm not a big person either, but I've gained at least 10 pounds in the past year and I can feel it in my clothes. I want to lose the weight but lot of it is more the need to tone up. That's where the inches really come off. Are you doing weight training as well as running/sports? I also really noticed a difference when I was doing pilates (which I need to get back into).
Went to the gym last night! Ran two miles (but with a walking break between each mile. I blame the lack of Ipod....). And walked another mile. 20 minutes on the bike and then lifted upper body. I am so sore today! But it feels good to be back into it. Plans to go again tonight.
Managed to stay away from the Oreos after dinner too!
Have a good day everyone.
