Trying to lose 10 lbs. forever club
I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons. I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably. I may want to go on to a size 6 next.
I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated. Maybe we can share ideas and recipes.
Let me know if you are out there and interested.
Reason: Moved to Weight Loss Forum
Today: Swam 1 hr. in the am. Ate Wendy's 1/2 order of my son's french fries but I think I'm within calorie goals
Tomorrow: Run in the evening; 1400 calories.
I hope everyone is having a great day!! Thanks for your encouraging posts.
Best regareds,
Toniahayes
Tonia-I know how crappy it feels when the scale heads up. Keep up your hard work!
I stayed within calorie limits today. I am under 1400. Yea! I exercised this morning with Billie Blanks! hehe...
Would love to see the scale going down and not up. It was up this morning, by just a few ounces, but still.
Well time to go to bed. It's late...Have a good Tuesday!
Today was the first day I had students. I teach high school math and love it. I had a really good first day. I got up at 5:30 and went for a quick walk and was at school for 7:00AM. I have some really interesting students this year; I am anxious to get to know them. After school, I got home about 3:30 and was at a BodyPump class at 4:15PM. It is a super strength training class. I was home for 5:35 and had dinner on the table for 6:30PM. I spent about an hour with my kids filling out that dreaded first day paper work and discussing their first day. They are both in the same building with me and I didn't see either of them all day. My daughter and I just finished cleaning up the kitchen and I plan to fold some laundry. Then my shower...Ahhh...
What I have discovered already is I need to work on my fluid intake at school. I didn't have a thing to drink from 7AM until 12PM and I really felt it. I am going to have to plan to drink more and take bathroom breaks. I think it is a common problem for teachers not to drink enough because we won't have time to go to the restroom. So, overall eating was under 1400 and I think I did well with exercise. I think once I get a routine down, I will be fine. Weigh in for me is tomorrow morning.
Good luck everyone!
Di
Welcome Tandoship. Hope you enjoy posting as much as I am enjoying your posts. And about the Tri, most Triathletes feel the same as you do about the swim. If you got a little coaching on technique then you would probably feel more confident to do the swim part of the Triathlon. The good thing about the Triathlons are that the swim is so short compared with the rest of the event. Once you make it out of the water and realize you are still alive then you feel like anything is possible.
Wednesday Weigh-in: 140.4, -1.2 from last weigh-in. Down 5 lbs. from the beginning of this forum. What a wackey thing the scale can be! I was 145 on Monday. Still working at gettiing below that 140 mark and staying there. I am looking forward to the day when 140 is the high number on the scale and not the low.
I'm trying to keep calories reasonable today. I haven't been motivatied to count this week but I need to get back at it. I've been focusing on fueling for exercise and performance. So today, I will consume about 1800- 2000 calories because of the long swim and bikeride.
Today's exercise: Swam 2500 meters (which is about 1 1/2 miles I think)
Will bike this evening. Hopefully around 15 miles.
Ohio: 16 miles is amazing for being new. Tour de France, here comes Ohio45! Did you bike before you bought the new one? Tandoship is right, don't forget to fuel before your bike and bring plenty of hydration. I learned about that the hard way.
Cc1170: Good for you on the Billie Blanks. My friend uses his workouts and she is 45 with the bod of a teenager. I bought all of his tapes and love his spirit. When I get bored with my workouts, I think I will try his tapes again. Thanks for posting about that.
Dievans: your schedule proves that you can make exercise a priority. I hear so many people say they don't have time for exercise but my husband says you make time for the things you want to do... some just don't really want to exercise badly enough. You're an inspiration.
Hope you all have a great day!
Ohio-good for you and the biking. You go girl!
Tando-Yes I was born in 70. I know all about your sister's struggles with finding the time to take care of yourself. Noone in the family seems to care if you need some time for you.
Tonia-I am inspired by your 45 yo friend with the teenage body. I am gonna keep up with Billie. He is actually from where I live in Erie, PA. We do have a Blanks studio, I think his brother runs it. Probably could get a good workout there.
My kids started school today. Yea! I got my exercise in after they left. I am going to college right now. This is my sophomore year. I have my first class at 2pm today and will be at school until after 7, I have 2 classes with an hour break between them. I am thinking I might be able to fit a walk in between those classes sometimes if I don't have any studying to do. I gotta figure out what to take with me to eat, that isn't too bulky or complicated. But it needs to be healthy. I had taken pretzels and fiber bars last year with me. Sometimes fruit, but I ended up gaining weight. Carbs are definately NOT my friends. I gotta try to come up with something different. Salad is a bit too messy and bulky. We shall see...
Well I need to get on with my day...has anyone been to CC Plus, I registered with the site, but it sure is a pain in the butt having to reenter all your info. I had a lot of items tagged and it made it easier. I don't think that site is worth the hassle. I know none of us have the time. Plus I came back here just for this forum anyway.
G'day!
hi there,
you people are all amazing, and i want to get in on some of this inspiration!
i'm 5'9" and currently weigh 148.5. I'd like to get to 140 by Hallowe'en. According to the magic calculators, that means I have to eat 1400 kcal a day, so my goal is to stick to that i'll do wednesday weigh-ins. my downfall is wine.
i walk my dog a couple of miles every morning, and as of this past monday, try to get to the gym for the elliptical or spinning class every day. i bike a lot. i love touring, and last year biked all over scotland with my then boyfriend, now husband (he proposed on the trip). we're planning to hit france/spain/italy next summer -- we're saving up (that will be our honeymoon). i did my first ever century last summer, in the pouring rain. i hope to do another in the spring.
thank you for this forum. reading your posts is a really great morale booster.
This has to be a quick post...
Today: Did a full body wieght workout & Biked 13 miles in the am. Walk/ran 30 minutes in the PM.
Didn't count calories but fueled for workouts. I did have pasta and agree with the posts that it certainly has bloated me. I try to eat whole wheat or whole grain pasta but I think the salt in the sauce is what caused me to retain weight.
Thanks for the biking site and forum.
Prospectpark: so glad to have your input here. I would love to hear about your rides and my husband and I are looking forward to doing rides like the ones you've mentioned. Your stats on weight and loving wine sound a lot like mine. I was 155 about 2 years ago. I've been able to get into the low 140 range and I know you can too. I just broke the 140 mark last week and I know I'll be there for good soon.
Concerning The Secret, I haven't read the book but I believe the concept that is why posting what our plans are for tomorrw is so important. When we say what we are going to do in writing, it is so powerful.
Tomorrow- Swim 1 hr. in the am. Eat for performance nutrition. I am going to take it easy on calorie counting until Tuesday but I am going to fuel my body well for my workouts. I will stay away from high salt, greasy food.
Have to go. Will probably not get to post until Saturday. I've enjoyed reading all of your posts. Thanks for all of your ideas, stories, honesty and encouragement.
Have a great day tomorrow.
Tonia: I love to talk bicycling... any time!
Ohio: Have you tried the thinner pastas, like linguine or spaghetti, in their wholewheat versions? My husband, who's half-Italian, absolutely refuses to eat wholewheat penne because he says it tastes like cardboard (like he knows), but linguine he will eat, and happily, and so it has become our compromise.
Tomorrow I will have just ONE glass of wine, or NONE (almost 20% of my calories came from wine today) and will not exceed 1400. I will also bike four loops of the park, walk the dog for an hour in the morning, and do an upper-body workout at home.
It's almost September... does anyone else get that new month, new inspiration thing?
I went over calories yesterday, it is just about TTOM and I am struggling. I crave sweet alternating with salty things all day while I am going thru it. I had pizza yesterday and leftovers today for lunch. That wasn't the bad part though, the cookies I ate last night were. I did manage to keep chocolate bars out of the house and I was thinking I was really glad they weren't here or I would have eaten them. I was craving chocolate bad!
I am busy with kids and their school stuff as well as my own. Only two days of classes for me and I am bogged with work already. I have a lot of studying to do and very little time to do it.
I managed to get about 20 minutes of strength training in today and 20 cardio yesterday. I am not getting much in, but I am not giving in, yet anyway.
My goal for today is to stay under 1400 for the day and not go off the wagon too bad over the weekend.
I did not even weigh myself this morning as I knew the numbers would be up, I didn't need the grief. I would just get depressed and eat even more...
Sounds like you all are doing much better than me. I will keep coming back here for inspiration and maybe I will eventually stop holding myself back from losing this last 10 lbs...
