Trying to lose 10 lbs. forever club

Quote  |  Reply
I am interested in finding others who have been struggling for a long time with losing the "last 10 lbs". .  I've been battling to lose 10 lbs for many years.  Actually, I've lost 10 in the last year but I needed to lose 20 a year ago (not just 10).

I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons.  I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably.  I may want to go on to a size 6 next.

I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated.  Maybe we can share ideas and recipes.

Let me know if you are out there and interested.

Hello,
Can I get on this last 10 loss??? I actually typed in "losing last 10" and your forum came up...I could use any info. you might have or suggest.  It looks like upping the veges & consuming more protein? I just started using my treadmill almost daily, but I normally weight train 2 to 3 times a week---I know that I must up this.
Thanks, Terrie
Ohio- I definately agree that being away from home and food makes it much easier to lose weight.

Tando- thanks for you kind words. It is hard to believe I once weighed 180 isn't it. When I was pregnant the scale even hit 200, I was horrified. Especially when the baby came out only weighing 6# 11 oz!

Tonka-It is no easy feat to lose the last 10 and once you do it is nearly impossible not to start to go back up. I have never been able to maintain that loss.

I eat tons of veggies, I always try for over 35g of protein per day, I snack on fruit, all-bran and fiber-one bars are my friends, as well as go-lean bars. I usually eat a can of soup for dinner and that is enough or I have healthy choice or lean cuisines. I like that the portion is just right. I am good with it. If I am still hungry I add a small salad.

My eating habits are completely different than when I was heavier. I never order fries or burgers at FF restaurants. I get the salad with light dressing and always grilled meat.

Tuna, salmon, white meat chicken breast, turkey breast, any fish really, crab, shrimp, are all great sources of protein.

Trust me, I have been doing this a long time. I lost that weight back in 1998. I have managed never to get above 139. Which was early this year. I had quit smoking and man the weight just seemed to go up. Now I have finally got rid of the extra and I plan to stick to my 5# up plan. I weigh daily and if it goes up more than five I get real strict about my portions and calorie intake.

Of course staying active is detrimental as well. I am not sure we need to knock ourselves out with exercise. Everything in Moderation has become my mantra.

Well that's my speil. Hope it may help someone.

Take care and stay strong! You're worth it!
Tando- I voted first thing this morning! Everybody should. It's our right! Plus our Government sux royally!

Ohio- I like to roast asparagus. I put it on a tray sprayed with nonstick spray and then I break the tough ends of the asparagus off, leaving the little tree part at the tip. I spray them again with spray, or you can use a little olive oil lightly brushed on. Once I have lined them all in a row across the pan. I sprinkle seasoning salt on top and bake at 450 degrees for about 15 minutes or until they start to get a little crispy. Asparagus is really good this way, even my hubby liked it. Which is unusual...

Well my weight is down to 118 again, I was up at 119 for a couple days. I am holding my own and really working hard not to mess it up this time. My pants finally fit again and I am happy about that...

Our newest addition to the family was a boy kitten we call simba, he is now about 5 months old and went to the vet to have "his" operation. He is still there and I feel so bad for him. I know how scared he was when we dropped him off. He is a really sweet cat. I have another older one that is about 3 yrs. old named Lexus and she is very sweet as well. She is not that crazy about my kids though, they were kinda rough on her in the beginning. She tolerates them.

Finals are next week so I am trying to study whenever I can. Which I should be doing now! So I am gonna go. Have a great day Ladies!

great quote Tando!

Well I blew it last night. I pigged out. I ate a huge bowl of Hubby's homemade chicken noodle soup, full of sodium but awfully good. Then I ate one fun size butterfinger which led to another which led to a snack pack of oreos which led to a big snack size bag of cheese curls which led to 120.6 on the scale this morning. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I hate when I do this to myself. Deprivation always gets to me after a while. I hope this switch up will keep my body burning calories, but not lead me to continue to binge like that. I feel like s@#t today!

Mice? Hidden in the closet...wow I would flip out! They are cute, but still!

Ohio the snake story IS funny!

Well I am hoping to do better today...and not continue this cycle. Once I eat these things it triggers cravings for more...I have to be strong and not give in!!!!! I finally reached goal ! :(

Talk to you guys later, gotta get ready for class.
I was very good yesterday and managed to get back down to 119. So I am happy about that. I went and got my hair done today, I got a body wave. I was sick of it just being straight and I wanted to do something different.

My birthday is Sunday and so I figured I would treat myself to something other than food.

Well I can study now or exercise. No kids or hubby. I don't know which to do. They are both important and I have so little time.

Well considering finals are beginning on Sunday, I guess studying is more important. I can exercise after that.

Hopefully I can figure a way to fit both in. So I'd better go now!

Take care!
Ohio- you got that right! I had pizza for lunch! I ate chocolate cake with chocolate frosting my hubby and daughter made for me, with ice cream! I ate pretzels with dip! Then I turned around and ate chocolate cookie dough as I was making cookies for my daughters  brownies snack tomorrow. Ok, I officially partied hardy...lol. I will feel it tomorrow. I remember the days I actually use to drink on my birthday, now it is just yummy food!

Now I am gonna have to deal with the cravings tomorrow, it is also ttom which has contributed to my celebration with food...

Tando-I am jealous. Wish I was on vacation.

I took one final tonite and did well. Yes on my birthday...I have two tomorrow and one the day after...I need to be hitting the books, NOW!

Take care...stay strong!  hope I can...
