Trying to lose 10 lbs. forever club
I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons. I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably. I may want to go on to a size 6 next.
I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated. Maybe we can share ideas and recipes.
Let me know if you are out there and interested.
Reason: Moved to Weight Loss Forum
I got up early this morning and went to the gym for a strength training class. It was very challenging. Came home showered and went to the dentist for a checkup. I love Christmas vacation. I think I will finish my laundry, dust a little, and read.
Ohio: Are you still trying to fit in exercise? That is what gets me through. We have to count what we eat, but the exercise just seems to keep me in line. Fruit is a good choice, but make sure it is really good fruit. A so-so apple will just not do it for me, but a Pink Lady apple is a treat. I agree it is difficult to be around young people who can just eat. I teach high school and I have to be careful not to compare myself to them and judge myself to harshly.
CC: You really have it tough, Christmas, New Years and two birthday. I think you should be proud of yourself for continuing to count! It is so hard when you know you are way over.
New Year's Eve will be a family oriented party at a close friend's home. There will be lots of games, music, and of course, food. I think I am taking a veggie tray and a crock pot of vegetarian chili. I am going to wear a fitted outfit and I hope that keeps me in check with my eating!
Have a great day.

Hello my ecouraging friends,
Thanks for all of your posts. First of all, it helps to know that I'm not the only one dragging behind the wagon hanging on for dear life. Secondly, its great to hear people like Dievans staying on the wagon. Someone has to stay there to help us back up. Thanks, Di.
CC1170- I had a brother-in-law who lost a lot of weight and we never saw him thin before so it was sort of a shock. I'm glad you are sensible in making sure you're in your BMI range. Keep up the awesome work and don't you just love being able to find clothes that fit!
Tando: Great job on keeping track of the calories. 2000 seems great considering the holidays. You could easily burn off the extra 500 with a workout.
My back is feeling better. I went for a 10 mile bike ride that felt awesome since it was my first workout in over a week. So far today I've tried to back off of the trash food and pull myself back up on the wagon. I had a salad, bran muffin, tangerine and I've been drinking lots of water with lemon. Then, I ate the chocolate cupcake which was so tasty. As tasty as it was, Tando is right, "Two minutes of enjoyment isn't worth the hours of regret".
Hey, how do you ladies keep track of your calories?? Do you write them in a notebook and then post at the end of the day? Just looking for some good tips to get back to tracking calories. Any suggestions?? Please tell me what works for you all.
I think I'll go get a cup of green tea and try to pull myself back up on the wagon.
Have a great day!
Ohio45: New Year's Eve we are having our Fifth annual progressive dinner with several other couples. It will mean more food of course. New Year's Day will be a concert with the neighbors and our son.
I understand about the 10# gain. I'm up on the scale too and my skinny clothes are not fitting well at all. I do believe that I can get it off with some smart eating, exercise discipline and encouragement from these posts. Let's hang in there together.
I just got back from the gym. I did a BodyStep class and some extra ab work. My eating has been going well and I just feel plain good. I will do some chores today and some visiting of friends. In our area we just got a Wegmans, which is this fabulous grocery store. The fresh fruit is simply amazing. I live in PA, so often times the fruit is hit or miss in the winter. I just ate a bowl of Special K with these terrific strawberries on top. Yum. I think if I shop at Wegmans for my fruit, it will be easier to stay on track.
Well, I don't have much to say except, good luck!

I am trying to clean up the disaster of a house we live in and am trying to keep eating habits in line.
I am doing pretty well, can't wait for everyone's schedules to get back to normal. I like being on break, but I am ready for the kids to go back!
That's really it for now...TTYL
I just came back from the Hershey Spa. I live about 20 minutes from Hershey, PA and they have a world renowned spa. It was fabulous. I got a gift card from my husband. I had a wonderful sugar scrub, a chocolate fondue wrap, and then a chocolate massage. I feel so relaxed. I arrived at the spa about 90 minutes early and I swam laps in their beautiful pool, used the steam room, and the rain shower. I wish I could treat myself once a month to this. It was way better than anything I could have ever put in my mouth.
My eating is going well, but when I got on the scale I was up 1.2 pounds. I now have 7.2 pounds to lose to get to the 10 pound mark. Oh well, I am going to blame it on sodium.
Ohio, it is pretty ugly in this part of the country right now. Enjoy the sunshine!
cc: I know exactly what you mean about schedules. I am having a great time on break, but I do miss routine a bit.

Tandosnip: glad to hear you are feeling better. I know how it is-- today I ran for the first time since Dec 15th and it felt great. When I hurt my back it felt like I would never run again. I didn't run as far as usual today but it was a start. So glad to hear you are still at goal weight- great going!!
Ohio45: Believe it or not, I've never been to the Prime Outlet but you've got my interest peak so I will have to make a trip there. What a hoot about the shorts you don't remember buying. I'm sure your 10#'s will come off quickly when you get home. 5# is probably blot from salty foods.
Dievans: Did all of the chocolate treatments make you crave chocolate?? Sounds wonderful. Hope you can do it again soon.
Today I weighed and was 147.5 which is 2 lbs. over what I started this post at. Maybe "Trying to Lose 10lbs forever club" was an omen name. This is 6 months later. The weird thing is that I am still in my size 8's although they feel Holiday Fat Tight. Maybe I shouldn't have disappeared from the forum for the last two months because I had taken my weight down by 5 lbs after being on this post for a couple of months. I really need to be here to get back on track. I guess the exercise did firm things up a bit even though the scale is showing a significant gain.
Tonight is the progressive dinner. I am not going to go crazy eating like a pig. I am going to remember that the little bit of pleasure I might gain is not worth the bloated fat feeling I've been experiencing.
Hope everyone has a safe New Years!! We will all get back to our healthy routines and I hope we will be here to encourage one another in the New Year.
Thanks for letting me vent.

I have been on an eating binge...sadly, and need to stop...and I plan to end this now. I just ate about 6 chocolate chip cookies and am feeling utterly disgusting...I can actually feel the grossness in my belly.
I plan to exercise tomorrow morning since dau goes back to school tomorrow. Then I need to write some papers for my classes, mine start the following day. I am glad I am getting back on schedule. I need it. My willpower for eating has caved and I need to get distracted with other things...now!
I have been in a funk lately too, it's not helping. I am having some personal trouble at home and I am trying not to turn to food. Never an easy thing for me to do.
I guess this is my New Year's resolution. To stay focused on school, kids, and exercise. I want to just take care of myself and my daughters.
Well that's it from me...Hope you all are well.
Any other new years resolutions?
