Trying to lose 10 lbs. forever club

Quote  |  Reply
I am interested in finding others who have been struggling for a long time with losing the "last 10 lbs". .  I've been battling to lose 10 lbs for many years.  Actually, I've lost 10 in the last year but I needed to lose 20 a year ago (not just 10).

I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons.  I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably.  I may want to go on to a size 6 next.

I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated.  Maybe we can share ideas and recipes.

Let me know if you are out there and interested.

Di- I had something like that on my foot. It was a ganglion cyst that was lying along my shoe line and it was getting irritated from all the exercise I was doing. It bothered me a while and I actually saw a surgeon about it. I tried to find shoes that didn't lie along that are and eventually it didn't bother me anymore. It was all the symptoms you described though. Just thought I would mention it. Good luck.

Well I am still fighting off all the illnesses I seem to have come across and I have been having trouble getting enough calories in as well, Ohio. I think that hasn't help me get better. I have tried to keep up with all my usual activities, but I think it is just the time of year and I will be happy when spring is here.

Ohio- I hope you feel better soon

Tonia-Sorry about the funeral. I hate those. I have calling hours to go to tomorrow night for a friend's brother. I despise funeral homes and anything to do with the whole process, it is just so uncomfortable. I can see the stress eating.

Well that is about it from here. I had an eye exam yesterday and my new contacts are on order, another week in glasses...I guess this is good. I am getting more comfortable wearing them. The prescription in this pair isn't very good though, so that kinda sux.

Well I should be off doing other things. Talk to you guys later.

Take care!

Wednesday Weigh-in: 146 (down 2.8 lbs. from two weeks ago) still up 1.5 lbs from the beginning of this forum on June 4th, 2006  which was 144.5.  I do feel like I am on the downward trend which is encouraging.

This means that I now have 11.5 lbs. to go instead of the 10 lbs.  I did break the 140 mark at one point but threw caution to the wind during the Holidays.  Now I am really paying for it.  This year I will make it a point to be aware of all of the possible set backs and make a definite plan to avoid relapses.

Dievans: I feel sad about your foot.  I had an arch problem at one time that was unexplainable. Could it be time for some new workout shoes?  When did you replace them last?  I do pray it is not serious.

CC1170: Sorry about your illness. I can't imagine not being hungry.  I guess it's not a pleasant way to lose weight.  Get well soon.

We all need to keep up with our Vit C.  I take 4000 mil.  daily especially this time of year.  Right now our hospitals are full in our area and they are turning people away.

Today: Will run in pm weather permitting. Keeping calories within the 1500 range.

Have a great day!

I have that last 10 to lose as well. I am 5'3'' and 143- I would like to be 125-130 but would settle for 130. So I guess 13 lbs would be a start. It is really hard though. I have been trying for the past year, since I gained it :O). I work out in the am... 6-7 days a week. I also walk my dogs for an hour in the afternoon. However, I am a full time student so the rest of my time is sedentary. I have been aiming for 1400 cal/day. I bounce up and down a couple of lbs here and there but no real weight loss.

Anyone have any suggestions?

!

Ohio: the 1/4 in on the arms must have been the golf and shopping.Smile  I told my friend last night to shoot me if I start overeating during the 2008 holidays.  It's just too hard to get the extra off.

Bendgirl:  With the exercise in the am and an hour walk in the evening, the 1400 calories might not be enough.  You might up it to 1600 and see what happens.  Our bodies hold onto weight if we don't get enough calories.
Hi all! I am feeling better finally! My appetite is finally coming back. So is my energy. I am slowly getting back to myself. I have been busy writing papers for my classes at school. Finals week is almost upon us. The week of the 18th.

Hope everyone has a good superbowl day and doesn't go too crazy with the snacks...I know it is tempting to do. I myself am thinking about chicken wings...sooo good!

Well have a great day! We always have tomorrow...I know, I know, not the mentality we want to use, right?
Ohio- When I first started going to the Y when I was at my heaviest. I was so ready to lose the weight I didn't care. I joined in on the classes they had there. I really enjoyed those. they had anywhere from beginner to advanced. I made friends in those classes that went to the gym regularly and that made me more comfortable going...so that is an idea for you. As for the supermarket, the best advice I have heard or read, is to stay in the outside perimeter of the store...the inner aisles are the ones full of junk. The outside ones are the healthiest; produce, meat & dairy. I am the same way with snacks, I think if I buy something I can control myself at home but never do. So I usually try not to buy it, because I know I am just not able to do use portion control. Either that or get a very small of amount of something...just to get a taste.

And,yes,I have tried to keep my head buried in a book...but managed to see the Superbowl and eat chicken wings...I am just finishing up research papers for school and only have a few more classes left for each class. Then it's a short week and half break and then we start 3 new classes for 10 weeks...and then it is summer break! Woo Hoo!

Well I am trying to stay around 1500 calories, my weight actually dipped too low due to the illnesses during the last month. My BMI was actually 19.6, never had that happen before...so I am trying to get back up to goal, now that I am feeling better that shouldn't be too hard. I have taken advantage of this fact and ate a frosty from Wendy's, had BK whopper & fries, and chicken wings...things I rarely eat...so it is weird to be where I am at...Not exactly healthy foods to put the weight back on...but fun foods.

Now I just need to figure out how to maintain my ideal weight and stay there...

Well you guys have a wonderful day...We are having a rainy one here...warmer than it's been...but it's going to cool down as the week ends and we will see snow soon I'm sure.

Take care, keep up the hard work and stay strong!

Hi Everyone,

Glad to hear that everyone is on the mend.  I wonder where Dievans is and how her foot is doing?

It's been a busy weekend and week.  I started a new/old job this week so I am trying to readjust all of my schedules and find time for exercise.

Wednesday Weigh-In: I am down to 144.6 today.  Down (-1.4) lbs.from last Wednesday's weigh-in. I have 10.1 lbs. to go to reach my goal.    I have determined to get this compulsive eating under control with the help of my Higher Power.  I've started attending a weekly COE group and also meeting with an exercise partner to tackle the Compulsive Overeating Issues.  It's taken me awhile to admit that I do binge eat.  I never looked at eating a whole bag of combos on the way home from the grocery store as binge eating until now.  I am really trying to learn what is true hunger.   I am also trying to learn what feeling full feels like. I am also trying to learn not to obsess about food or weight.  Boy, do I have a lot to learn.

I did a 4 mile 10/1 run/walk split last night to start preparing for my 5K in March.

Ohio45: Great job on the running.  I remember when I started and I ran 1/4 of a 1/4 mile and was exhausted.  Stick with it and it will pay off.  I love the runners high that I get.  The first mile is always the hardest no matter how long you've been running.  Even marathoners tell me that the first mile is the hardest of every run.  One of the reasons why people quit running is they dread that 1st mile so much.

Have a great day!

I want to lose 10 pounds ....i am 132 starting my goal at 125 for now............but i have lost nothing so far been trying on here for just over a month now..........donw know what i am doing wrong
