I am interested in finding others who have been struggling for a long time with losing the "last 10 lbs". . I've been battling to lose 10 lbs for many years. Actually, I've lost 10 in the last year but I needed to lose 20 a year ago (not just 10).
I run, bike and swim now and have been participating in running 5k's and triathlons. I have firmed up but would like to wear a size 8 comfortably. I may want to go on to a size 6 next.
I think that if I had some friends with the same goals, then I would stay motivated. Maybe we can share ideas and recipes.
Let me know if you are out there and interested.

Ohio-Some peanut butter in small quantities, like you had, is very good for your diet. Ever heard of the PB diet? You can have some every day. The diet is supposed to be very satisfying because of that...but I could easily eat a cup of peanut butter. I like to dip pretzels, celery & carrots in it...a little piles on calories in no time though.
I don't know why my appetite is so big. It has been since I was a young girl...it isn't fair especially when I see what people generally eat. I feel embarrassed that I can eat so much. Especially considering I am 5'1".
Well I am going to try to fit in some cardio today. I want to enjoy the nice weather and am thinking about a walk...I just don't like that it takes so much time to burn the same amount of calories I can doing a video. The problem is most of my videos have some strength training in them. I don't have many that are just cardio. I need some of those so that I can exercise daily and not overdo strength training. I think you need to give your muscles a rest sometimes...even if you are only using dumbells.
My calorie count is still up near 2000...I can't seem to get down no matter how hard I try. I find myself so hungry when I try to eat less, nothing seems to be working. I am trying Ohio's advice though and am beginning to lower my carb intake. I am going to stop buying crackers and pretzels.
Tando - I have the same problem with family that you do. They complain that there are no snacks in the house when I eliminate all the bad stuff. So I end up buying it thinking I can stay out of it, but I don't. I try to buy healthy snacks and eat those too...and even more of them. Those 100 calorie snacks are a disaster for me. One bag isn't enough...it just makes me want another. They are a big waste of money too. You wind up paying more for the product and you get less. But if I buy big bags I will eat that much more. I am really better off not buying them until I can gain control of my eating habits. I did at one point have some...right now for the life of me I can't figure out how. I have been gaining weight steadily for 2 months. I am really not liking myself right now.
Well ladies that is about all from this part of the world...have a nice day! Enjoy the sunshine!

Tando- I appreciate your encouragement, but find if I am too easy on myself I easily give in to my cravings. I don't know if I am lacking anything nutritional. I take a ton of supplements each day, so I should be good. I just have an addiction to food, plain and simple. It is the hardest one I have to break, smoking was easier.
Ohio- Baking bread and potatoes, eh? Watch out for those...especially that warm bread from the oven. YUM! I agree with you that this weather is ridiculous...we have had very few sunny days, mainly just dreary ones. Where is summer?
Well I managed to drop a couple lbs of water weight. Yea! Yesterday I stayed under 1500 calorie intake for the day, another yea! This morning I woke up starving though, this may not be good. I tried to stay busy yesterday and eat lots of veggies when I was hungry. I tried to stick to very low calorie snacks in the evening, like my sugar-free fudgsicles and I managed. One day...maybe I can make it two.
Also, I have been trying to drink more liquids. I knew I was retaining I could feel and see it. TTOM is right around the corner and that happens to me. Plus my appetite does go up when I am PMSing, no doubt about that. I wish that wouldn't happen...what a pain in the rear-end. The only time I am not craving salty/sweet things is about 2 weeks out of the month, if not less. My PMS has gotten worse, not better, with age. I truly didn't need that to happen, its always been pretty hard on me.
Well, I plan to do one of my interval training workout videos now and then shower and get some errands ran before the kids get home. I am taking them to a local baseball game tonight. I hope this weather cooperates. If it is cold and rainy, I am not going.
Have a good day ladies! It's a really good thing we have this message board. It is so nice to be able to check in with you guys here each day to stay mindful of my actions.
Take care! Stay strong!

Hi guys! Hope your weekend is going well. I went to a local baseball game last nite. It was a beautiful night for it. I managed to eat a very small amount of snacks. A little bit of peanuts and popcorn and didn't overdo it. I even had Mcdonald's ice cream last nite and kept my calories under 1800 for the day. My weight is down a couple lbs, so I am feeling pretty good today. I am keeping up with exercise and doing lots of things with the kids. I am trying to stick to healthy food choices most of the time. I am eating a lot of fruits and veggies. I am trying to limit the amount of white flour and sugar I consume.
Well that is about all for today. Hope you are enjoying the bright sunny afternoon. It is pretty windy out and the rain has held off, so that's a good thing.
TTFN or ( Ta-Ta For Now)!

I do good one day and not so good the next. I didn't eat so poorly yesterday...it was mainly that I drank to much wine. I was in the mood for it and there was a bottle in the back of the fridge I had not opened. Well it got opened and I drank it. Which of course put me over for my calories for the day, but I enjoyed it. I don't drink a very often but the warmer weather does make me want to a bit more often, I don't know why. I wound up snacking on the last of the pretzels in the house last night too. So it wasn't a great day and my scale was up 2lbs today! Ugh! I am right there with you Tando!
I am gonna try to get back on track again. I am gonna try not to let this little slip-up get me down. They are to be expected. I just can't live my life without these little treats...what fun would that be?
I am gonna go hop in the shower. I should try to get a walk in today...if I have time later I will. I haven't done any hard workouts this weekend. I can do one tomorrow while the kids are in school. I hope this couple of pounds drops off fast. I just need to try to keep the breads, crackers, and things like that to the bare minimum. I think I would be fine then.
Well, I have to get going...so much to do and so little time to do it! You guys have a great day and stay motivated!

Hi there! Well I stayed under 1850 yesterday...not great but not terrible either. I didn't lose nor did I gain. But I was super swollen last night with water and I am not sure what food did that, I don't remember eating anything terribly salty...oh wait, I take that back. I had some pickles yesterday. Well...now I think I do know. All I can say is "Wow!" Salt affects me worse now than ever! Even my fingertips hurt from being swollen last night. I need to take a water pill this morning and try to get rid of some of it, I will also drink some extra fluid as well.
I plan to get my exercise done first thing this morning so nothing interferes with it. I have some laundry to finish working on and some other household tasks. I have a few errands and then next thing I know my youngest will be coming home from school. These days just fly by without me being in school. When the kids are out of school I don't think they will fly by so quickly...by summer's end I will be ready to go back to school, just to get a break. =)
Well, I am gonna get off here now...hope you are able to enjoy the beautiful weather we should have today.
Take care!

Ohio- You are not doing badly at all...you are doing exactly what you need to. Don't get frustrated, stick to the plan and you will see a drop in the scale. Your body is making a last ditch attemp to hang on to that weight. If you give in and fall off track you won't lose it. But if you stay on track I bet you will see a drop. Also you probably need a day of rest for your body...today is a good day to do that. Just try to stick to your healthy eating habits and you should be fine. Listen to me with all the advice! ;) Unfortunately I can't seem to follow it! But I have been where you are and I know that if you stick to your guns, you will see a drop!
I managed to stay under 1800 calories yesterday! Woo-Hoo! Even though I slipped last night and ate waaay too many FF pringles. I was have a really great day until then. If I would have gotten up from the computer chair and went to bed I don't think I would have eaten them. I started to get hungry and they looked good. I did manage not to eat the something sweet I wanted to follow them up with, so that was a big step...truly. So I am happy about that and that is what kept me under 2000 calories for the day.
I had to go pick up my oldest dd today from school, she had a stomach ache and she is now home watching TV. This was my last full day of freedom before school let out. Not anymore! GRRRR!
Well I wasn't planning to exercise today...this is really gonna be a challenge during the summer trying to get it in. I am not a morning person and getting up early enough to fit it in before the girls get up means about 5am. Yuk! I will see if I can manage that. One day at a time, right? The other thing I do is emotionally eat around them...stress/boredom/whatever! I hate to admit it but its true. My oldest presents me with a handful of challenges and she can set off everyone of my buttons. It's isn't her fault it is her disability and her living arrangements...I know this and I suppose you can add guilt to the list of reasons I eat more when she is home. My youngest isn't such a handful but when you put the two of them together all day long...my hair begins to turn gray and fall out! Lol!
I need to get the exercise in as often as I can just to relieve my stress level. Well I am gonna try to keep them busy this summer and my oldest is going to be recieving some behavior modification at home during the week. So this is good and bad. The good having someone to help, the bad having someone in my home each day...it is quite intrusive and intensive. I had it a long time ago when she was about 4 years old. At that time it did not help too much, I am hoping that she is more receptive to it now and that we make some progress. As she ages we encounter new challenges...it never seems to get any easier. (BTW, she has Autism, Moderate Mental Retardation, and Attention Deficit Disorder.) As you can tell I am stressing about this already and summer vacation hasn't even begun yet. I was looking at the calendar yesterday thinking how long 3 months looks. I hope I am wrong about that and that things go smoothly. Maybe I will look back at the end of it and say "Wow! Where did the time go?" :)
Well that's about it for now...this was more emotion related than food related. But for me they go hand in hand. Thanks for letting me share!
