Trying to lose weight fast - help!

Quote  |  Reply

Hey guys I'm new to this (Ive only been a member 3 days) but it seems really great!

I am currently doing the last few weeks of my final year of school and after my major exams i have the graduation formal to attend to - obviously i want to look my best!

I am trying to loose as much weight as I can as quickly as I can by that time, which is in 7 weeks time. I know it isnt reccommended I lose weight that fast, but I really really want to just lose it in a great heap by that time :)

The burn meter says that my body should burn about 1900 calories a day, and my diet is currently consisting of around 800 (I know its a little but i'm doing fine i promise)

How much weight per day/week will i be losing doing this without doing exercise? Exercise is a big problem for me at the moment as I used to be really into it a few months back but with my final exams fast approaching I dont have much time to do it (I spend my spare half hour a day on this!)

I'm just curious if this eating less calories than your body burns burns like a kilo a week or only abotu a kilo a month? help would be greatly appreciated

thankyouuu so much! :)

What you're doing is absolutely perfect if you want to be a little slimmer in 7 weeks time but balloon to a much heavier weight than you are now 2 weeks later.....

Really, crash-dieting is a terrible idea.  We've all been there, all thought it was clever and all paid the price.   The 800 calorie thing is very silly, especially for a young person who needs good nutrition.  There are some serious reasons why rapid weight-loss isn't recommended.  You'll end up feeling very ill  and tired (even if you're 'doing fine' right now)...  you'll probably binge out of desperation because your body is craving energy.... and people who starve find that weight-loss suddenly becomes very stubborn.

Assuming you're currently overweight (BMI >25) , you could easily lose 7-14bs in 7 weeks on 1500 or so a day, being a little more active (a walk each day) and by drinking more water.

follow simple rules and ull love me.....Laughing

1. eat everything (and i mean absolutely anything ), but little , remb to watch ur portions.( a handful jelly bears wont kill u, or a spoon of icecream can actually cheer u up, once in a while)

2. drink atleast...ATLEAST 8 glasses of water a day. Its a must.

3. try to make sure ur always moving around doing something at home, NOT just SITTING.

4. start your day with atleast one warm big glass of water with a squeezed lemon in it.

5. dont eat anything after 7-8pm. ( this does not mean u go for a large pizza everytime the clock ticks 6:30 or 7:00 pm)...lol

there u go..... if im not wrong ull easily lose 3-4lbs a week, since ur still a kid and goin to school ur day must be pretty active, so dont worry if u dont get to exercise . just remember to keep ur self busy at home or go for a lil walk everyday. And dont restrict urself to anything enjoy ur every meal (but not big value meals, lols), its ok, ur perfectly fine. learn to love urself first and then only will u have the true desire to look pretty,

u dont have to look good to feel good, let ur feelings rule ur looks.

ayesgasaleh.... it's completely irresponsible and totally wrong to suggest to someone, especially when they are young and impressionable, that they can can eat anything as long as it's 'little' and 'easily lose 3 - 4lbs a week' in the process.   It's not safe in the slightest and you're merely encouraging the OP in their unhealthy crash-dieting ambitions.  I'm appalled....

What amount are you REALLY trying to loose in total?

It takes a deficit of 3500 calories to lose one pound.  So for example, If you take in 1400 calories a day when you are burning 1900, you will lose 1 pound a week.

Try taking a book on the treadmill if you are rushed for time.  It's a great place to study.  Good luck!

This is a weird statement, but you need calories to burn calories. Your body needs enough energy to burn the cals, and if you don't have enough energy to burn everyday, then you WILL NOT BURN CALORIES! Your body will hang on to them like a drowning rat! And it will be easier to gain weight because your body is going to store the fat like mad! It thinks its starving.

Realistically, you can expect to loose about 10-12 lbs in 7 weeks. Roughly 1.5-2 lbs per week. I used the Special K diet and dropped about 7 pounds in three weeks. The box said 6 pounds in two weeks, but I didn't eat the cereal every day.

If you want to loose more than that, it'll take longer.

I got the impression that ayesgasaleh was attemping to say that a little sweet here and there isn't going to hurt. And portion control is a big problem with lots of people.  I do agree that the method the OP is using is not healthy, but I don't think that the suggestion would influence her any more or less then the rest of them. Lets give her the benefit of the doubt that she isn't some lost little sheep with no will power or mind of her own.

By eating only 800 calories a day, you might lose weight fast in the beginning (2 or 3 weeks), but after this point you will not be able to lose anymore because you will be starving your body. Google a bmr calculator and that will determine how much you should be eating.

I would also search the CC forums on bmr and starvation mode and you will see why eating so little will only harm your body and your weight lose goals.

The think I think most of us struggle with is that it took time to put on the weight (even if it seemed like overnight) so it will take time to take it off.

You need to feel good in your mind first in order to look good. Don't crash diet, it will only make you feel icky, sluggish (and might cause you to binge resulting in weight gain).....

Eat healthy- tons of fruit and veggies- your skin will love you for it and nourish your skin on the outside as well. Start doing some cardio to get the blood pumping, it will help you get a great glow and do some weights- you may not be able to see big results, but the way you think of yourself and carry yourself will change and that is what will make the big difference and that is when you start looking great!

Good luck
