trying to maintain...not working
Hey all. I was where I wanted to be about 10 pounds ago. Now at a stick-figure like 110 5'5' i keep losing.
currently I eat around 1800 -2100 calories a day, and do cardio 6 days a week ( elliptical 40 min max burning around 500 maybe) coupled with weight machines ( 35 min. 5 days a week calories used I have no clue)
I desperatly want to stop losing and maintain and possibly get back to 115ish or even 120.
Anyone with similar stats???? Ideas???
thanks!

I would just keep adding in 100 calories at a time each week until you stop losing.
At your current level of exercise you need about 2400 a day to maintain and 2900 a day to start gaining. If you were to reduce your exercise to 3 times a week you could maintain on 2100 and gain on 2600.
wow i never thought i would be able to "have" that many calories to play with. I guess I was in "weight-loss" mode for too long.
I guess, I am fairly active with the cardio so you are right gi-jane......i should increase my calories...to sustain my exercise routine.
wow in disbielf but i like the thought of more calories, just need to find ways to ingest more....never really that hungry
Janelle thanks you 2!!!!

Go for more energy-dense, low-bulk foods.... Avocados, nuts, dried fruit, seeds, oily fish ..... And oils are a terrific way to bump up calories. An extra tablespoon of olive oil to dress a salad or added to cooking is delicious. Wholegrains are also useful. Just an extra ounce of wholewheat pasta or brown rice in the cooking pot is another 100 cals.
You can also afford to treat yourself to a few not-so-healthy foods as part of your overall healthy diet. Nothing wrong with a glass of wine here or a dish of ice-cream there. Enjoy!

I used to have this problem too. I upped my cals but my body kept losing no matter what the heck. Keep upping them, and you may hit a point you have to down them again. Your body is just in losing mode. I spoke to my doctor about my weird 'eat anything i want and keep losing' stage, and he said my body just wasn't done losing. However at your height and weight, we need to look into ways to stop it.
I will now gain at 1600. I was eating upwards of 2000 and losing, so your body may just need to figure itself out. Start chowin woman!
