Not trying to get skinny club...

Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone!!  I am fairly new here, and I don't know if I'm allowed to start a club, but I was looking for support from others who have lost a lot of weight, and trying to accept what they've accomplished and be content with a not so skinny, but much improved, self.

I have lost about 60 lbs. and I'm just not sure I am wanting to go down any further, though I did think I wanted to at first.  I am currently 147 lbs. and a size 10-I know that's HUGE in our society, but I am thinking I am comfortable here.

Anyone else feel this way?

Totally.

I am not quite where I want to be yet. But am down almost 50 pounds and currently a size 16 working towards a size 12. The interesting thing is that after 5 + years at a size 24, 16 looks and feels great! Which is why I have chosen for the past four weeks to maintain and enjoy my new look before making the final weight loss run!  Everyone is different I guess. But I am all about my size 16 Gap Jeans!!!!!!

You go girl!!  That's what I'm talking about.  How tall are you?  I forgot to mention I am 5'4.5".  Size 10 on me looks different than size 10 on taller girls, but I'm still feeling pretty good about it right now.  I haven't decided to stop trying to lose, but I'm not pushing myself any longer to get it off as quick as I was to begin with.

Yep totally agreed!

I lost 100 lbs and am now 148 lbs.  I am size 10 as well.  I haven't fit into a size 10 since junior high!  People tell me I don't need to lose any more weight.  I am pretty content with the way I am looking now.

~H~Cool

Woohoo, three members!!

Haley, EXCELLENT for you!! :)

Hey everybody!  I'm not yet at a place where I feel content, but I basically used this same logic to decide on my goal weight - I'm 5'6", right now about 160lbs, and I only want to get down to 140 or 145, about a size 10.  I was happy and comfortable at that weight before, and I think I will be when I get there again.  I'm sure it would be fun to be 130-135, but I think that those extra 5 or 10 lbs would be REALLY difficult to lose, and it's already taken me plenty of time to lose the first 10 lbs (I started at about 170).  Plus, I figure it would be really difficult for me to maintain, and I don't want to set myself up for failure by getting down to a weight that I probably wouldn't be able to stay at for very long.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that other people feel the same way.  I'm proud of all of us for having realistic goals and for loving our bodies at a high-normal weight, rather than shooting for a super-skinny-normal weight.  Honestly, I think that if I lost all of my curves, I wouldn't feel like myself!  Wink

I have decided it is not practical for me to go stick thin. I am shooting for a BMI of about 22, but at about BMI 23.1 right now (6'1", 175ish, 44) I am "normal" weight and feel pretty good . . . especilly having been 265 (clinically obese) about 7.5 months ago and smoking. My "Real Age" and actual age are about the same now (I was in my young 50's in Real Age in January) so I figure I've gotten back about 7 years of my life, statistically speaking.

So yeah, I do not believe I will never be super thin. I want to keep at a healthy weight and want to be part of the club. :)

I'm 5'7" and I'm embarrassed to post after another person of my height says they're aiming for 130!!! I just can't imagine myself at that weight. I think 145 again would be great, but 130? Um, no. I'll keep a size eight and be pleased.

Hey

I'm a mighty 6 foot 1- and have thus far lost 85 pounds. My goal is to get down to 189 (where I enter the "healthy" BMI range), but I would maybe like to get down to 182. I would be a comfortable UK size 14 (I think that may be a US 10 or 12)  at that weight.

At 244 pounds, I'm currently a UK size 18-20. And I already feel much more confident. I think if I was 140 I would look awful!

hi everyone! Congrats to those that have already lost weight n good luck to those just starting!

I am currently a size 20/22 (US) im 5'7", my goal is somewhere between 140 (a 6)and 160(between and 8 n a 10), it will depend on how i feel and how difficult it is to maintain, i want to look as slim as i can  (w/o bein skinny), but not if i cant enjoy it!

tincognito i know what you mean about the aiming for 130, i was 135 in HS n looking at those pics i want to go back n feed myself! lol But the person who is aiming for that  probably has a much smaller frame than I do.... and possible a smaller chest lol I was a large C at 140.... ahhh thatd be nice again lol bein able to go to Pennies n buy a bra.... thats all i want right now LOL!!!! (Im a 38 E/F now btw)

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

I certainly hope so! At 145 I was a pretty solid D, so I feel your pain. I luckily have noticed much boob gain, although I do find buying plus sized bras is helpful right now. (I don't think I'm a DD, but I'm always falling out of your standard bought store bra. So frustrating! I just wish they'd put a tad more fabric into it instead of being so damn cheap.)

I am SO SORRY you have to go to the E/F... I always wondered what those people did. O_O.... My D's are hard enough to buy for. (Reminds me of my step mum who is so big she suffocates while lying on her back, so just be glad you're not that big. I can't imagine what size her boobs must be, but her bras are freaking huge.)

I think it's great that you're not trying to get too thin. I'm 5'6", and currently 200 lbs. after 2 kids. I carry my weight pretty well, and would love to get down to my pre-baby weight of 130, but realize that, at 41, I would probably be too skinny there. I don't need to be a size 4 anymore. I just want to be healthy. Of course, I also work in the film industry, so I'd really like to be in a single digit size again Wink.

tincognito i buy mine online (figleaves is a good one, so is fredricks, or hipsncurves, hipsncurves is great for the bigger girl btw). The only bad part about that is i cant try them on first, n all the companies are different. Do you buy demi bras? the ones that are cut lower, try full cups ones, they make alot that are actually pretty. And youll know if you need to go up a cup size (or even 2) if the middle of your bra doesnt touch your breast bone, if it almost touches try DD it its not eve close try a DDD/E.

I cant imagine being sooo big id suffacate! OMG... *mind boggles*

*Sorry to jack the thread lol*

I'll join! I am 5'8" and currently a size 12/14 down from a 20/22. It feels great. I'd love to lose more (to get to a healthy weight) but I am fine with taking the last little bit slowly, and enjoying where I am now.

We have a Fredricks in the mall and I hate it. =( It's just like Victoria Secret to me. But I'll check out the others! I wouldn't consider myself plus sized, and I never buy plus sized items, but I found the bras in Goody's the other day and they fit wayyyy better. The bra I'm wearing now is, admittedly, older (I'm doing laundry because I'm going out of town tomorrow) and the center doesn't touch my body at all! O_O I never knew that! I mean, I knew this bra wasn't very supportive, but thanks so much for the tip! I think the newer ones I bought do, but now I'm definitely going to have to check.

I do like demis. They feel like they have so much more lift! =P

Yeah, each of her boobs I would guesstimate was at least the size of a watermelon. Not a small one, either, but you're regular big summer watermelon. Yeah. It blows my mind.

(Yes, sorry for jacking the thread, but boobs really fascinate me. >_>.... Yeah, I can explain!)

So glad to see all these who share my feelings!!  I looked at the pics of those who had them (would love to see everyone) and had shown progress.  You all look great!  I'm so glad to know our world hasn't gone completely skinny crazy.  I know we all want to be thin, that's the way society has conditioned us, but I am relieved to find out some of us can have a few extra pounds and not feel like we just don't belong in this world.  KWIM?

i cant shop in store at fredricks either, but online they carry sizes that are larger, u to XXL and F size bras. n Im a bewb fanatic too lol. N demis will never give you proper support... sad i know cuz theyre the cutes bras!

So how's everyone feeling this week?

My scale has gone up a bit this week, but I'm not completely sure what that's about.  I thought TTOM, but usu. once I actually start, I see a significant drop in weight and this time I have actually seen an increase.  I feel pretty bloated, but haven't had an unusually high amount of sodium lately.

Anyway, I'm still feeling pretty good about myself, but I don't want to get too comfortable and start doing things that will cause me to gain back what I've lost.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone!! :)

Hi All,

Hope I'm not too late to join.  I've slowly been losing weight for the past year and a half and  I'd like to lose another 20 or so to put me in the mid 140s.  I'm 5'5" and 43 yrs. old so I'm not looking to go too crazy- just want to be healthy and be able to wear and feel good in clothes.

For the past few months I've been pretty much maintaining but would like to get back to losing again.  I've been eating about 2200 cals and exercising regularly.  Haley, I've read several of your posts and you're such an inspiration to me.  I was wondering approximately how many cals you typically eat?

Have a great day all-Dianne

What an awesome group!!!

I am about 5'5" and currently 180. I've lost 55 pounds so far and plan to lose about 20 more and then see how I feel. I'm about a size 14 right now and hope to get to a size 10 (i have a big butt so its hard to get small pant sizes). I have an athletic build and do triathlons and spinning so I def have larger legs than most. If you just go off of BMI, I should get down to like 135 pounds but I would look sickly at that weight. I have too much muscle to get that low and I def don't watn to lose muscle so I can weigh less. I am happy havign a muscular body instead of beign stick thin. It shows that I work hard to keep my body in shape rather than just not eating so I can be skinny!
