Trying to up the intake
Ok, so i have increased my calories from a very unhealthy 800-900 intake to about 1200 today (Its been about 4 days), iv also only been doing long walks rather than jogging.. Im really freaking out, i know its crazy but i feel like my stomach is getting fatter..i feel sooo full at the end of the day...it really makes me want to go back to 900 and jog 5 times a week..
I dont know what to do..i know i need to increase to about 1600 but im so scared..
You've obviously got a problem, you're struggling to cope and I think you need to talk to a doctor or other health professional about it. Or at least, talk to someone close and explain how you're feeling - ask if they can help you.
1200 is still a long way below the intake for a healthy person and lack of food really doesn't help you think clearly or rationally. The less you eat and the longer you starve, the more anxious and 'scared' you'll become. If you suffer from bloating (quite common when you start to eat more) you need to plan out your meals and snacks very carefully so that they contain a lot more energy-dense foods and a lot fewer bulky low-calorie foods. You also need to eat 'little and often' for the same reason.... If you need 2000 cals a day (which would be a reasonable intake for a healthy young woman) then you could split it into 3 x 400-500 cal meals interspersed with 3 x 200-250 cal snacks.
So talk to your family and then see your doctor urgently.

I can't really encourage you, but just the more time passes with your current intake, the happier you will be.
I went from 600-800 calories a day to about 3,500 now, im young, tall, active male, and well, actually my weight hasnt actually increased from the time when i was on 800 cals, and now when im on more than 3,000 a day, so i was really surprised about how fast my REAL metabolism is.
I think its very good to increase calories gradually - 1200 now and 1600 then, it is more comfortable especially for people who are eating disordered, and its less of stress for your stomach to accept new intake.
And just don't freak out to see some changes on scales, it will go up a bit, but its all temporal as soon as your metabolism will shut the "starvation mode" down to normal mode.
Thanks Gi-jane, I know i have some issues, i talk to my mum about it quite often and she is great support.
I have removed the scales from my room so hopefully that will help. So you think i should just keep upping the calories asap? Does anyone have recommendations for exercise? Is it ok to start my jogging again?
Yatenkun, you went from 800 to 3500? How fast did u do that?
Also once i get to a normal intkae, is ok to start losing weight again? I still have a few lbs to go..
Thank you so much
How old are you, I'm guessing somewhere between 16-18 based on your photo? Your other post states that you've been restricting for 2 1/2 months.
Given how long you've been on a restrictive diet I recommend seeing your doctor for an evaluation of your overall health...of course, you need to tell him/her about the restrictive diet so they can run the appropriate tests just to make sure that you're doing okay and that you don't need to focus on some particular nutritional item.
1200 is not going to be enough calories for you at 5'10", especially when you add exercise into the mix. The sedentary burn for an 18 year old woman who is 5'10" is 1930 calories. Your exercise alone creates a calorie deficit which would normally cause you to lose weight.
My recommendation is to get up to the maintenance for your age and height at a sedentary rate and use a reasonable amount of exercise (preferralby weight training) to create your deficit for weight loss assuming that you can get over your fear of gaining. If you can't get over the fear of calories that's another problem on it's own that you're going to need to explore with a health care professional.
Im 18 years old, i am really afraid to see my doctor but i guess i should just do it as many people have recommended that to me.. i will call them today.
I know that i really need to get over the weight gain if i want to focus on repairing my body but it is hard, i am hoping i just dont notice it as i will try not to weigh myself anymore. When you say weight training, are things like squats, lunges, crunches etc. ok ?
Now that you're aware of the problem is the time to tackle it. You do not want to get stuck into the mental mindset of undereating. Just read the posts from those who are underweight and are desperately trying to get their heads on straight. You do not want to go down that road if it's at all possible to avoid.
A quick doctor's appointment with a referral or two is going to be far cheaper in the long run too than ongoing medical testing and therapy and nutritionists. While it might feel silly now, there's a ton of people that would gladly trade a minor amount of feeling a bit silly for having their lives back.
Yeah i know, i really dont want to be stuck in that mindset. I really want a healthy happy lifestyle.
I have booked a doctors appointment so hopefully that will help.
I have eaten 1300 calories today...i feel like i have a lot more energy but im a bit worried about exercising as i dont want to waste my muscle..
I will go up to 1400 tomorrow an by the end of the week hopefully be at 1800
