So it looks like my legs and arms are getting leaner- But my tummy is is all- BLAH!

How do I get rid of this thing? I do tummy exercises all the time. and cardio. Is there anything else I can do?

I remember reading somewhere that a great tummy is 80% diet, 20% exercise....and somewhere else that sweets and carbs tend to settle in the midsection area.  Other than that all I can offer is more ab workouts and cardio that you seem to be doing. Good luck!
We all have our areas; I'm fine with my tummy, but my legs and hips are just too large for the rest of me! I guess in the end you just have to wait and keep up with the diet and exercise.
I'm allergic to wheat, gluten, flour, barley... So I baisically stay away from starchy carbs. And i never eat sweets. I don't drink soda nor do I drink juices. I eat really really clean. That's why I don't understand.
It could be water retention... you should drink lots of water (atleast half your body weight in ounces) and cardio is #1 at burning fat sooo keep trying.  I drink a gallon or more of water per day its very good for you and try to reduce sodium to a complete minimum in your diet cz it is 1 of the causes that stubborn layer of fat on the stomach
Sodium?  How much should I be consuming in a 1400-1700 cal diet?
Generally you won't have a problem getting enough, so just trying to minimize it is best. I've heard it should stay lower than 1300 mg. Easier if you don't eat processed food, much harder if you do.
Cool I NEVER eat processed food. I can't. haha

How much water should I be drinking if I weigh around 180?
90 oz. = 11 cups of water is good. they say you should drink half your body weight in ounces... lol bt i drink a gallon each day.. nothing harmful can come from it and its very healthy..
thank you
That stubborn layer of fat is probably due to only two factors:

Body fat % -- lose some fat by increasing cardio a little (if body fat % is in the athletic range already then genetics are to blame)

Genetics -- according to genes, some people store more fat in the midsection than others.  This could very well mean never loosing the fat in the midsection that you would desire.

ok, i have like 2 minutes before the water boils, but i have heard (can anyone verify this thru experience? i've never had a tummy except a bit after pregnancy and it really just fell off on its own - i don't put weight on my stomach) that if you want your stomach to 'look' leaner, at least when you're standing, the best exercise to do is actually not crunch-type exercises, but bridges - you know, supporting yourself on your feet and hands, face down, lifting the body keeping the abs as tight as possible?  crunches just build 6-packs under the fat, whereas doing bridges will apparently help strengthen the muscles that help you naturally 'suck' your gut in involuntarily (without meaning to) so you look leaner in everyday life - a posture thing, or something like that.  it's just what i heard, years ago.  of course, i think the girl who told me that still had a tummy.  can anyone verify results from it?
I've heard that exercise called a plank, and it's great for core strength.  Yep, it'll help get a flatter tummy, along with an otherwise good exercise regimen and a good diet.

One of the reasons I joined cc is becasue my tummy is my biggest problem area.  I've been reading up on how to lose the belly fat and this is what I've learned.  It seems that the fat is more likely to come off your face and extremeties first, so you have to wait until you lose most of the weight before you lose the belly fat.  The good news is that if you stick with it, the tummy will get leaner. I've only been doing this for a month so I guess I'm going to have to wait and see if this is true.

I also read that while you tone your stomach with crunches and other exercises, you can't spot reduce anywhere on your body.  Unless you lose the weight, you can't have the flat tummy.
