Tummy Toaning

Quote  |  Reply

Hey Guys,

I've been hitting the gym for 3 mts now, and my arms and legs are really toning up nicely, but my tummy is just not budging, i do 20mins of circuits, 200 sit ups, 5 different types, 40 of each, and 4 combos of free weights, and i'm doing it about 3 nights a week, i have changed my diet, cut out alot of breads, pastas, etc, nothing seems to be helping it, any suggestions please Foot in mouth?????

FWIW... I started HIIT/sprinting a few weeks ago, and nothing has helped more to trim my middle. Even crunches/sit ups got nothing on a flat out sprint. bank it.

yea honestly, the treadmill has been the only thing that's helped me. try to start out small. the more i can run (i'm slowly building up my endurance), the less i feel my belly jiggle haha

If you mean that your tummy has some extra fat on it, then you just need to lower your body fat percentage.

running and PLANKS !

Now this is what I like to hear. Whenever there has been a thread about abs, cardio, etc, I ALWAYS recommend sprinting for HIIT sessions. Sprinting gives an unbelieveable stomach workout. That is why it is so great because you can get your cardio and stomach work done all in one.  I have gotten much better results with my abs doing mulitple sprinting sessions per week and eating right, then I did with crunches, sit-ups, etc.. The reason is because you have to put a lot of tension through your mid-section to run hard enough to do a sprint.

I have to agree with the previous posts on HIIT!  I had been reading about it on here for a while, and was skeptical, until I decided to give it a go for the first time this week - amazing difference already!!  Between that and upping my fiber, I have really seen the results!

Better nutrition and a cleaner diet will get you 90% of the way there.

Haha, yes... Embarassed I did think that but was too tired to correct my posting at the time. OK, so a cleaner diet will get you 90% of the way there!

I learnt the hard way that putting 10 hours in at the gym every week had little results on my body-fat % when I wasn't paying careful enough attention to my diet.

Nope, clean = not junk, better nutrition = the right mix of nutrients.  You can definitely do one without the other.

like other have already said its all down to diet. clean diet will get that tummy down :-)
