I like to mix it with a little red pepper hummus....mmmm nummers.  Slap that into a wheat pita with some diced onion & lettuce, it's so good.

I like mine with peri peri sauce or vinegar.

Ive found helmans extra light mayo to be good with tuna because it does taste a litte vinegery and its only 15cal per table spoon.

Light creme fraiche also isnt too bad, but i dont like it as much as light mayo.

I heat red onions and garlic and add tuna just to heat it up, then eat it with whole wheat bread and red beans. Either that or "guacamole" in pieces - basically shredded avocado, tomato, onions, a drop of vinegar and spicy salt.

Layer two slices of whole wheat bread with tuna and avocado and press under a Foreman grill. Melty goodness.

edit: This is still "fatty", but it's good fats that your body needs.

I was going to say a little olive oil and red onion but I think I like the red pepper hummus idea better!

yep, I add a bit of lemon juice or even some pepperdews to it. Also do the vinegar (I use balsamic) and love to add some avo.

What I love to do is actually cut an avo in half and then put the tuna in the middle - sprinkle some salt and pepper, a little bit of balsamic and hey presto!!! Very filling and satisfying meal/snack!

:)

Can of tuna, balsamic dressing, peas, parmesan cheese. Good hot or cold on crackers, sandwich, over spinach or just out of the bowl. You can add diced red bell pepper if it's handy.

On days when I have extra cals sitting around I melt in some white cheddar instead of the sprinkle of parmesan. (A slice of white cheddar is about 90, and much tastier and healthier than the mayo.)

Mix it with cottage cheese, either as is or blend the cottage cheese until smooth, season as normal.

i switched from mayo to miracle whip light, which is only 15 cal per tbsp!

i had it today with balsamic salad dressing on crackers and it was yummy! thanks for all the suggestions

oh and i added some extra oregano and celery for crunch. very satisfying and healthy.

This is my recipe. I love this stuff, but be careful its addicting. The relish I use is jalapeno relish. Mmmmm.

I do this too! I will use any kind of light dressing not creamy or I will add a seasoning like mcgormick's and a tiny bit of olive oil. I usually use the oil only if Im putting it on crackers so the tuna does fall off.

This Fruity Tuna Salad recipe I got from Cooking Light has a bit of light mayo in it, but I love it with the fruit and it makes a very refreshing lunch for 227 cal and 5.5 g fat.

Edit:  Just to clairfy, the calorie count includes the whole sandwich with pita, lettuce and tomato.

  • these are my two recipes theyhave some mayo but still only come out to be 100 cals per serving

Using plain yogurt in place of the mayo tastes exactly the same to me.

I mix Hellman's light with fat free Greek style yogurt, half and half.  Then I season it with lemon juice and a dash of hot sauce.  I add fresh minced parsley for a nice fresh taste.

Kraft fat free mayo is even less, only 10 per tbsp! And I actually think it tastes better. :-)

I love canned tuna and canned salmon. Fresh also but canned is easy for lunch. I drain it and rinse it to remove some of the sodium. Then I mix it with veggies, olives, salsa, greek yogurt, mustard whatever sounds good and wrap it in a lettuce wrap with tomatoes. Yum.

yes, these "fat free" dressings may have less calories, but they are loaded with CHEMICALS

fat creates flavor and mouth feel.. so to remove the fat from a product, you need to replace it with something else (usually sugar or artificial additives) to create a comparable like consistency and flavor

read labels, I guarentee you wont be able to recognise let alone pronounce half the ingredients in these "healthier alternatives"

natural fat free plain yogurt, or cottage cheese a much better solution... or go with a totally different flavor by using unsweetened tomato sauce and spices
