Turbo Jam critiques & suggestions welcome

Quote  |  Reply
Hi all!  I am new to the community.  I am looking at buying the Turbo Jam workout package.   I would just like some consumer reports before I make a purchase.

I would also appreciate some suggestions.  I am looking for something that makes me feel like I have worked out hard.  I used to be a dancer.  But now as a working adult I find I don't have much time/energy and I don't want to join a gym.

Let me hear from anyone!!!

I'd think Tae Bo or Kickboxing would give you a heavy duty workout. Might want to check into those.
I'm curious too.  It looks like fun.  Anyone try it???
I saw an infromercial on TV Guide this morning for Turbo Jam. It promised 10 lbs or 10" in 10 days or your money back. I immediatley thought "yeah right" because I don't believe promises of quick weight loss anymore. But after watching it, even if it doesn't make me lose 10 in 10, it does look like an effective workout.... Working all parts of the body. I'd like to give it a try so I'd enjoy others responses as well.
I found a few reviews of the product that might help.

Thanks for that link!  It looks like most like it.  I went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered it yesterday.  I will let you all know my review after I try it out.
thanks zoebeidec, I think I will give it a try.  It looks like a lot of fun.
Well, i am one to say get it. I learn the turbo jam moves at my gym. It is so fun.. I love it..
I have the turbo jam work out and I love it . I'm not very good at eating right but have been dedicated to working out and I am getting results. Its fun and inspiring and when I hear the music at the beging it makes me feel pumped up to work out. You get a few different videos. The ab work out really makes me sore, I still have a long way to go till I am able to see them but now my boobs stick out more than my tummy does. Hope that helps.
I just bought Turbo Jam today.  It looks like fun!  I've been going back and forth between signing up for Jazzercise or purchasing Turbo Jam.     It sounds like everyone that has it are getting results.  I'm a bad eater - not too much junk - but I know I could clean it up a bit.
What *IS* TurboJam

*luffs his DDR - They make me feel less clumsy. Watch HKellick hit all those 8th notes! ;D*
I got my Turbo Jam videos and tried the starter work out. It looks like a lot of fun. The moves are complex so I think it will take me a couple of times before I can go on to the real workout.

Actually the standing tuck she tells you to keep is a lot easier to keep then sucking in your gut and doing Tae Bo. Well at least for me. Her moves seem more condusive to keeping this position.

Has anyone done both Tae Bo and Turbo Jam? I'd like to know which one they got better results from.

TurboJam is a full body aerobic workout, kinda like Tae Bo.  It looks like it's centered more around dancing than chop socky like Tae Bo is.  Personally, I'm a fat white guy with no rhythm...so I just use the elliptical/crossramp.  But it does look pretty effective!
Ya I'm hoping it'll help work off the gut. Till now I've been losing every place but my gut. I'm hoping that phase of my weight loss is over. I just need something a little more entertaining then Tae Bo. Tae Bo can be so serious. At least the videos I have are... which are the orignal ones from years ago.
I'm still waiting for my Turbo Jam videos.  Hopefully today!!!   I can't wait!   I've tried a few hours of the Taebo videos...uhhh...just couldn't get into it - perhaps i'm not into Billy Blanks?  hehe.   I've also tak'n abt 6 months of Taek Won Do.  I enjoyed it, but I'm not into competitions.

Right now, I'm doing belly dancing  once or twice a week!  I love it.  I have somewhat of a difficult time keeping up with the fancy foot work, but I enjoy it!  Conclusion, I think I prefer dance videos over martial art videos.   =)
I hear ya on the dancing. It's way more fun. I ordered a Salsa aerobic
video used off of Amazon but it hasn't come yet. I get bored doing the
same thing every day so I kind of want to mix it up. Post back here
after you do the Turbo Jam. I'd be interested in what you thought about
it too!
Turbo Jam works. If you are into great music, sweating, and really getting an effective workout, this is it. There is even a 20 min workout that blasts so many calories-if you don't have time to do the 40-45 minute ones. You work your whole entire body, the whole time, especially your abs. Oh goodness will you feel your abs the next day. Right now, I am on the advanced workout schedule, they allow me to have 2 days off, but guess what? Turbo Jam is so much fun, and so effective, that I can't take a day off. I don't want to take a day off. I really recommend this to you. I weight 130 pounds, which means that the weight isn't coming off of me quickly anymore... the less you weigh the longer it takes.... however, I got to this weight by doing turbo jam. In just 2 weeks, I lost 4 pounds. May not seem like a lot, but the slower it comes off, the more positive you can be that it is weight you will never gain back. Not to mention that in just 2 weeks, I can already see my abs developing even more! Highly recommended. Dont waste your time with tai bo. Turbo Jam is fun and effective. From what i have heard, tai bo is effective, but not fun. In turn, if you are not having fun, you won't want to keep exercising. Again, turbo jam. turbo jam. turbo jam. I promise you won't regret buying this product!
I got the Turbo Jam videos a couple of weeks ago. I have mixed feelings about these for a couple of reasons.

1) Sometimes I think they change the moves too fast and you don't have time to focus on the work you are doing

2) Not so crazy about the dance music though I think maybe a lot of people would like the music. There doesn't seem to be any ROCK N ROLL works outs so I guess I'm SOL.

On a positve note.. They are upbeat and for some people I think they would be great.

I think I'm going back to Tae Bo. I feel like I get a better work out with that. Just my opinion. I think Turbo Jam is a matter of personal taste.

I have had TurboJam for about a month and LOVE it. It takes a couple times to get the moves down.. but once u do, its great. It is fun and the workouts really really work. I used it three days in a row and dropped 2 pounds!  I find that sometimes if I listen to what Chalene is saying but don't necessarily watch, it is easier to learn the moves. I've just gone ahead and bought the TurboJam "maximum results" set as well.

I've tried tae bo and other sets but didn't like them. This one has a lot of kickboxing moves but they're not too repetitive and there's some interesting dance moves that help break up the routine.
I love Turbo Sculpt!   I'm not too crazy about the music, but the workout is good good goood stuff.   It's a full body workout.  I've actually participated three times now.  =)   Once you get the moves down, you can throw on some head phones and just follow along with the workout.   It's not bad at all.   I'm a curves member, and I definitely needed something different.

I'm enjoying the turbo sculp so much,  that I have overlooked the cardio jam workout.  Anyone else?

I love turbo jam. I used to do Tae Bo, but found it too borning. I started turbo jam about 6 weeks ago. It's been amazing! I have lost 22 pounds and over 15 inches (haven't measured myself yet this month). Within the first ten workouts I lost 9.5 inches and 7 pounds. I haven't been the best with the eating, mostly following weight watchers. I like to party a little, so I haven't totally been sticking to the eating. I find that if I eat too much one day, then I eat a little less the next day and do an extra exercise and it still helps me lose weight every week.

I did purchase other tapes because after I learned to elite moves, and got sick of the learn and burn I needed more than just two cardio workouts. So I have a bunch more now and they are awesome. If you get confused with the workouts, just do it to your best ability because being confused causes you to burn more calories!

Hope this helps.
