Every year at turkey day I get the wing of the bird. I eat it, bones and all. This year, I did just that, and now I'm in a lot of pain. What happened? It's the bones isn't it? Does anyone know how long it takes to digest bones? And why did this never happen in years past?
It's pretty tough to digest bones and cooked poultry bones especially tend to shatter into sharp pieces, which is a little unfortunate. Might be worth a trip to your Casualty Department to check that one of them hasn't got lodged somewhere.
Why on god's green earth do you eat the bones? do you gnaw on them? That seems like you could get bone splinters if the turkey isn't cooked exactly right.
i've eaten the bones my whole life, and never had this problem before. everyone in my family eats the bones as well.

And if everyone in your family jumped off a . . . .
Oh, never mind. ![]()
If I'm not supposed to feed them to my dog, then I'm not even going to try. Yuck
Go get looked at!
The idea of that scares me.
Wow. That can't be good for you. It just can't.
that's kind of... gross ![]()
lol
try eatin' some grass... supposedly it can help with the upset stomach after eating the entire carcus <<-- don't know how true that is (I'll google it and come back later)
i mean it can't hurt... grass can't be any grosser than bones, so why not?
;)
I still have a little pain, so I have a doctors appt scheduled for tomm. I'll let you guys know what the dr. said. I never thought eating the bones was that gross. hmmm....
Not the turkey bones at fault, just some muscle spasms. However, I was advised to stop eating turkey bones, and bones in general. fyi.
I'm glad your doctor advised that. We're omnivores, not carnivores and I don't THINK our body is actually designed to really digest bones the way a dog's might be (and mostly, I think, they don't eat the bone so much as destroy it to get to the marrow.)

Eating it plain is a little rough but it's not to bad in Brownies.
