Turns out the scale REALLY isn't everything (shock!)

I've been "telling" myself for a while now that the scale doesn't matter, it's how my clothes fit, etc... But part of me still lived in fear that I was secretly staying chubs despite hours at the gym 5-6 days a week by myself and w my trainer.

Today we did my caliper measurements (you know, that awful "skin fold" test from hell that literally just pinches your fat in several specific places and measures it), and in two months... I'm down in every area (despite only losing about 1 lb hehe)!

I think the units the device uses are mm, so...here we go:

Bicep down from 21 to 19 (not great but that wasn't really a problem area)

Tricep down from 25 to 19

Tummy (lower part of abs): down from 22 to 19

and BACK (shoulder blade area): Down from 23 to 11!!

I'm wearing a backless dress for my 5/15 wedding and am PSYCHED that my back is so much more slender.  As I type this I'm in jeans I haven't worn since I was working 4 jobs and barely ate!  And this time I AM eating.  In fact I'm never starving anymore and I don't binge on wknds anymore!

THANK GOODNESS SOMETHING WORKS!  You can't hold me down, Scale!! Me and my muscles OWN you!

Yay for measuring and yay for awful fat-pinching machine :)

Seriously, we are so conditioned to think of the scale as the ultimate measure of our weight loss success, and it really isn't.  My experience has been very similar to yours.  After 3 months of working out every single day and 7 weeks counting calories, I'm down 2 pounds, but I took my measurements today and discovered I'd lost inches in every single area.

Congratulations on the fat loss, especially the back.  That's awesome!

Honestly, the scale has no way of knowing what our bodies are made of.

Too true! I hate the scale. I stopped using the stupid thing a month ago. It doesn't really fit with what I want: I want to look good. Scale only measures my weight. If I chopped off a leg, I wouldn't look good but my weight would go down. It's dumb!

Congrats though! :D Nothing feels better then reassurance that you're doing something right.

Keep up the good work, and toss the scale! :)

Hahaha, Kaybug! "I stopped using the stupid thing a month ago."  I love it , hahaha.  Yay for scale escape!

Thanks to both of you for the encouragement!
