Two days of horrible!

Quote  |  Reply

I started my diet four days ago, the first two days I did wonderful, but then all of a sudden yesterday and today I feel famished and can't quit eating!  I'm so angry at myself, I have zero will power.  I have never managed to stick to a diet longer than two weeks and never lost more than 8 lbs when trying to lose weight.  I don't know what to do to make myself stop eating like a pig.  I just can't get excited about "diet" food, it seems so boring and blah, I wish I hated eating it would certainly make losing weight a lot easier!

Thinking about going back on slim fast because then I at least know what to eat and it doesn't seem like many calories.

Thanks for reading my whine!

Beth, breathe slowly and deeply.  In a nutshell, you need to stop thinking in terms of "diet food."  Make your favorites in healthier ways so you don't feel deprived.  I ate a cheeseburger for lunch (light, bread, FF cheese, turkey patty for all under 300 cals- yum).  Even if you eat fried chicken, just eat one or two pieces.  You can do everything in moderation and still lose weight so long as you fall within your calorie target for the day.

Exercise, exercise and exercise.  Seriously, the best way to combat a healthy appetite is to work out regularly.  You burn excess calories (so technically you can eat more without going over your calories) and you tone up.  It's a win win.  Best of luck.

I feel like I can't give you much advice because I have been struggling with food as well. I just wanted to tell you to keep your head up and don't give up. Tomorrow is a new day. I am going to go to the gym tonight to try and balance out my bad eating. If you excercise harder after a bad day it makes you feel a little better.

I completely agree with oddfunk. You need to find what you do like and work with it rather than trying to force yourself to eat what you don't like. If pizza is your thing then go with a pita and top it off with healthier choices like back bacon and mushrooms with a light layer of cheese. You can do this, you just have to look at what you eat in a different light.

My favorite thing when I'm in that "I'm starving and will eat anything and everything" mood is popcorn. The fiber fills me up, the slight salt/butter taste makes me thirsty for water, and best of all depending on the brand you can get low calorie bags. I aim for the bags that are no more than 150-250 calories if I eat the whole bag all by myself. This is high based on my 1500 calories, but it satisfies me, and since it's high in fiber, and encourages drinking water, I rarely eat the whole bag. But I like knowing I can!

If you drink at least 8oz ever one or two hours you wont feel as hungry (:

Elliemayy is right.  Drink tons of water, mix in a crystal light every once in a while.  It honestly sounds like your motabolism is adjusting to your menu change and building up and that is a good thing, but you have to put wood on the fire for it to burn.  Eat a lot of small meals throughout the day and don't sweat the small stuff.  Just get back on the train if you fall off.
