Two pounds heavier and scared!!!

Quote  |  Reply

So this week I've been eating more than what I usually eat and I'm a whole 2 lbs heavier. This whole week I ate about 1500-1600 cals and I supposedly burn 1700 cals daily. I'm a bit upset at the fact that did gain 2 pounds in a week but I'm more scare because does it mean that I won't be able to eat normal again? It's not like I ate over my burn limit!!! Things like this makes me nervous because it makes me think that I'm going to have to eat 1200-1300 cals for the rest of my life in order to maintain! I still have 12 lbs that I want to lose in order to reach my weight goal of 120!!!

Has anyone ever felt like this??? It's not like I'm going to just give up but it really takes a toll on my weight loss journey!!! The 2 lbs can be water weight, a normal fluctuation, or ice cream lbs lol but they still hurt my little heart Frown Oh and on top of everything I've been between 130 and 132 for the past 3 weeks and I haven't been able to lose anymore Cry

And to think that when I turn 100 I'm only going to burn about 1200 cals according to cc.com!!! Oh the horror of metabolism!!!Undecided

Its okay, this happens! My girlfriend experienced the same. She was in a stand still...Have you been working out more? Lifting weights? Change your eating pattern. My friend has started the "zig zag" way of eating. Example eat 1200-1400 on one day at 1800 on the next. This will allow you to trick the body. Its working for her. Also change up your workout, this way your body will not be so familiar with daily activity.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips. I've actually just started exercising again this past week and I usually try to change up my calories and it works pretty well for me Laughing. What still scares me is when I lose all the weight that I want to lose and then go into maintenance and end up gaining the weight back Surprised. I guess that's something I'll have to deal with once I get there. I'm still upset at my two weight gain Yell... Evil 2 pounds!!! lol

Try not to weigh yourself too often either, it makes you anxious and then all you can think about is weight loss ... and I thinks ometimes that is a hindrance.

You can do it!  This is just one week.  The exercise will make a big difference, I'm sure.

Relax, if you were eating slightly below maintenance than you did not gain 2 pounds in a week.  It is probably water weight or the extra food still in your system or something.  You said you just started exercising this week.  If this is new your muscles will be storing extra water in them while they repair themselves.  Also, when you switch from restricting calories to maintenance there usually is a jump of a few pounds on the scale.

One high day on the scale is nothing - I weigh myself everyday because it forces me to face the scale each morning and stay honest in my eating habits and I have learned fluctuations of a few pounds from day to day is nothing, it is the overall trend you need to be concerned about; it takes more than a few days to establish a trend.

Thanks guys for the support and tips. I know I really shouldn't be worrying about the scale but sometimes I just can't help lol. I'll just take it one day at a time and eventually one day I'll reach my goal Cool

Make sure to weigh yourself everyday at the SAME TIME. When I wake up I'm about 119.8. Right before bed if I weigh myself I'm almost at 125.

dont forget to take into account the change in weather, this week has been really hot and your prob retaining water :) well, thats what im telling myself anyway lol!

I do weigh myself at the same time every time which is usually Sunday and Wednesday mornings!!! Weight at night = depression LOL!!!

Very good point tigzy, that's why I'm making sure to drink more water which is hard at times because I forget to drink enough water lol. I only drink water when I'm really really thirsty lol. And I shall tell myself that the weight increase is the weather's fault!!! Evil mother nature lol Tongue out Jersey weather is sooo freaking humid!!!Undecided

Is it TTOM? Because I reliably gain 3-4 pounds every month around the same time. Those lbs come right off again after a few days, and even though I know to expect it, it doesn't help my PMS'd mental state! :-)

brightestblue, now that you mention that my TTOM has been kind of crazy lately. It keeps changing dates on me lol. I don't know if its because of my diet or something else but it's sure not as realible as it used to be. Last time I got it at the begining of the month so now that its the end of July it might be that?
