Two Weird Thoughts on Losing Weight
The following thoughts did not motivate me to lose weight and did nothing to help me avoid a binge every now and then. However, they do help me rationalize why I follow a low-calorie lifestyle while it seems like everybody else around me eats whatever the heck they want!
My Life as a Dog
Genetically I'm not much different than my dog. My dog is content eating dry kibble all its life, it doesn't get depressed about it. I as a homo sapien, possess the same ability to be satisfied with any healthy diet. So I eat much, much less now than what I used to eat. I consume much less sugar than in the past. Over time, my body is satisfied with whatever a serving is. Over time, my body became satisfied with two packets of sugar in my coffee rather than five. Like my dog, I drink copious amounts of water. I don't need the soda, milkshakes, or frappucinos anymore.
Losing the Fat is Like Getting out of Bankruptcy
If I were facing bankruptcy because of my own irresponsible decisions, it would be even more irresponsible of me to buy, say, a plasma television set. My duty would be to try to first pay my bills and creditors. Well, all the years I spent taking in much more calories than I burned created a huge calorie debt which turned into fat. To get rid of this debt now, because I want my body to be healthy--as I would want my finances to be healthy--I must give up the junk food, the heaping plate of pasta, the hours spent sedentary in front of the television, etc. It is what must be done to reach my goal. And I will be happy in that I am behaving honorably and responsibly. And best of all, my body will help me be satisfied with my new diet (see My Life as a Dog). After a short time, if my diet is healthy, any feeling of deprivation will soon go away and I will be satisfied.

I like this. :)
that's called 'thinking outside the box' and was a very interesting look at life when 'eating to live, not living to eat' as the old saying goes.
Great thought process. I like these very much!
Eating healthy doesn't equate to tasteless or boring foods though....
Oh, thanks all! I'm glad you liked them.
ohio45: I envy my mom who's always been an 'eat to live' person whereas I have to work at it really hard.
vthompson1: You are so right. I have to enjoy what I eat. If healthy meant bland I would be in big trouble (I'm cursed with a sweet tooth). Sometimes I do long for the bad ole' days though, when I ate every meal like it was my last one!

Thanks for the encouragement, Brise. I'm a little shy about posting new topics (I had my mouse on that 'Post Topic' button for a while, lol) so I appreciate everyone's responses.
Agi, great post and food for thought.
Thanks Pam! I liked your BMI Ticker with the violin. So cute!
hey agi... that was wonderful... i absolutely loved it... a person has to be a born writer... it cannot be learnt... so do pen down a few more thoughts when you think of them and feel free to share them... :)
Thanks Agi
