Another post got me reminiscing about all my kids pets over the years and all my experience with different animals. What different types of animals have you all had in your lifetime?

I'll Start

Cows, Goats, Chickens, Ducks, horses, Weasel, Raccoon (tamed of course), Dogs (Lhasa Apso, Collie, Keshond, and some Heinz 57 varieties), Cats, Red Tail Boa, Australian Sugar Glider, Australian Opossum, Speckled Gecko (he was purple), Green Gecko, Tarantula, Rabbits, Jackson Chameleon, Veiled Chameleon, Miller Chameleon, (male and female of each of the chameleons) Ferrets, Iguanas (many iguanas),  I know there are more I just can't think of them right now. Oh fish of course. and Chinchillas. I'll remember more as the day goes by. hee hee 6 hamsters,

edit: turtles a red ear slider and an exotic tortoise, he would have gotten huge and lived a long long time, but he ran away, darn those aquariums. And I had male and female dagoes (sp) they multiplied faster than rabbits. they are sort of like hamsters and chinchillas mixed

I went through a period of letting my kids have all sorts of different animals. And I grew up on a farm.

edit: hey ali, I forgot birds, my sister breeds parrots and Cockatoos, how could i forget those. Well I'm not really good with birds you've got to keep them really really warm.

hamsters, gerbils, cockatiels, English Cocker Spaniel, Black Lab, Dalmation-Terrier mix, hairless rats, fish, and now an American Cocker Spaniel.

I have had so far in my lifetime: five dogs, six cats, , six horses, one bunny, one iguana, one canary, and lots of fish. Right now we have a dog, a cat, and a fish who has been around for almost five years. He's a beta fish and he's not lookin so good right now. His fin looks like something is eating away at it, but he's always been the only fish in his tank. Guess we'll see what happens, poor little guy.

oh lulu, I hope your fish gets better, he may have ick (sp) you can get some drops for it. I had a gold fish one time that lived for a long time. He was so big, but then we moved and dh killed him when transferring him. Poor Willie Cry

Thanks! I'll have to check that out at the pet store. He's a good fish and if I can help him out, I will! Ick. You know, now that you mention that, I am starting to remember something about that. *cobwebs starting to clear from brain*

Also, I had a goldfish when I was a kid that lived for a a couple years. It was my first fish in my very own bubblegum machine fish tank in my room. Then my cat figured out how to get into the fish tank and ate him. I found out by walking into my room and stepping on something squishy. Looked down and it was dryfus's (fish) head! I freaked out. Man, that sucked.

NUMEROUS dogs and cats, all through childhood. We were never allowed inside pets, except of course the deer and racoons, lol.

my dad raised walker coon hounds and the female was eating the pups so we had to bring those 11 puppies in and raise them,

we had a baby deer the mother was killed on the road, at the same time we had two baby racoons, (my dad had killed the mom hunting) so he brought them home and they were raised in the house until the were big enough to survive. the deer was raised from spring all the way to the last day of deer gun season and my uncle hit him on the road.. it was awful, we put an hunter orange collar on him so he wouldn't get shot then he got hit on the road.

squirrels, possums, rabbits, just about everything.. lol

Cats, an Akita, a Golden Retriever, several Labs, a 400lb. pig, numerous rabbits, numerous chickens, 4 ducks, 7 horses, lots of fish, gerbils, hamsters, 2 beagles.

I've never had interesting pets...but my brothers ex-boss has a pet squirrel that they keep inside and let run around their house.  They found it right after it was born and it loves people and sleeps on their laps....I find him amusing.

Not too unusual for me.  Just dogs, cats, and rabbits.

when i was a kid i had some fish and a couple of hermit crabs, but for the most part it's been furry things: several cats, three horses, and i'm on my second dog.

once i get out of grad school and get settled in the right place, i plan to get a kitten to keep the dog company while i'm at work.  i also really want to have horses again, but only if i have my own property.  boarding sucks.

hey pg, we board (for lack of a better word) horses for a neighbor down the road right now. She is going to sell them and my fil asked if I wanted him to get them for me. I'm not sure. We have the property but I don't know how to care for them. They weren't taken good care of and smell and have matted manes. Also the male has some "private" issues and I'm not sure if it is healthy. What should I consider before purchasing a horse? ed:I had them as a young child, but didn't have to care for them.

i'll pm you, boxer.

Cats, Dogs, Parakeets, Fish, Guinea pig....That's about it for my family.

My guy's family has had a lot of different animals from dogs, cats, hamsters, birds, snake, iguana, frogs, turtle...etc. Haha.

you've had a lot of cats. I've been looking for a blue Himalayan for quite a few years now.

lulufit - ick appears as white dots, like grains of salt, to me it sounds like he has fin rot. It's pretty easy to treat if it hasn't reached the body. You can buy some aquarium salt and add that, and Bettafix would be good to get too (Melafix is awesome stuff, but it's believed it might harm labyrinth fish like bettas, so Bettafix is the safe version for them). If you've really had him 5 years, he's way over the life expectancy, so he might be going downhill anyways :/ ...oh and do lots of water changes.

As for me, I have had: dogs, cats, rats, mice, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, ferret, multitude of fish (too many kinds to list, many 'exotics'), budgie, canary, turtles, newts, frogs...I think that's it.
