What types of protein are good for pre and post workout?
Ok, I'm new to all of this and I'm looking for a good source of easily digestable protein to eat or drink before and or after my workouts. I looked at TUBS of whey protein yesterday but didn't buy any because I didn't know if there was any difference between brands or flavors. What exactly does it taste like? I saw a few flavored types that you make into a shake but I don't know if I'd rather mix in the non-flavored type into one of my own shakes. Any help here would be GREAT!

I am pretty fond of the "designer whey" it actually has a decent taste and I mix it into orange juice to have as a sort of shake =)
I don't know too much about whey protein, but I'm sure someone else will have some experience with that. When I used to run long distance, I used a product called Accelerade during the workout. It's like a Gatorade with some protein in it. I would use a product called Endurox after the workout that had a higher percentage of protein and really did speed muscle recovery. Of course you could always go simple and have a glass of milk, but probably better for after the workout!
I like pro blend 55 which is really tasty and muscle milk is awesome!
I Was actually looking at that pro blend 55 stuff I hear great things about it what flavor do you recommend ?
i just go to walmart and buy mine. i think the brand is called... extreme body fortress or something.
Just make sure you buy a good concentation of grams protein/grams per scoop. The tub I got has 23 grams of protein per 30 gram scoop (they provide a scoop in the container), with low carbs and everything else you expect.
As for taste... whey protein is a biproduct in the making of cheese or milk... some dairy, I forget. So just imagine a milk like texture/taste. That's what comes to mind when I mix it with plain water. My friend says if you mix the chocolate flavored one with milk it's just like choc milk, but I like to keep my carbs low.

I always get vanilla, so I can mix it with anything.
yeah I have that body fortress stuff too but I hear people say it sucks.
So what's your favorite low-carb protein powder, and where can I get it?
Vitaman shoppe
i also order from bodybuilding.com
Here is an article on muscle milk. Not sure if it speaks the truth but it is worth reading before you buy it.
it's true that stuff is awesome, all the trainers at one of the gyms I worked at drank them and we all leaned out and built muscle a lot faster, and none of us changed our routines.
if you want a fast digesting protein get whey protein it is the fastes digesting protein and takes around 1.5 hrs to digest
