Typical menu in the "good old days"?

Quote  |  Reply
Before you switched to eating healthy, what did a typical day's menu look like for you?

Here's mine:

Breakfast: one of those huge gas-station banana nut muffins

Lunch: Salad from the school salad bar with tuna, tons of cheese, and flooded with ranch dressing.

Dinner: Something my mom cooked, usually a huge plate of pasta or rice with some type of meat and veggies on top, but mostly the carbs.

Dessert: Bowl of storebought ice cream, at least two or three servings' worth.

This is when I was in high school and I never even thought about calories.  Ah, how times change...

Ah... the good 'ol (calorie-laden and nutritionally deficient) days...

Breakfast: 3 eggo waffles, slathered in nutella. Incredibly tasty, creamy and goooood!

Lunch/snacks: Sandwich: 2 slices white bread, mayo, cheddar cheese, lettuce, deli meat. Wheat thins, 2 Sweet&Salty Peanut bars, some kind of fruit, and if there was any good kind of junk food kicking around, some of that.

Dinner: Usually some kind of meat (far too much of it), a refined starch and a tiny serving of veggies. That, or some kind of comfort food/casserole type dish- mac & cheese, spaghetti & meat sauce, etc.
6 am. breakfast--bowl of Cereal with skim milk

2nd breakfast 2 hours later--breakfast pizza from gas station and chocolate milk

lunch--whatever is on the menu of the cafeteria

mid afternoon snack--whatever was for treats in the lounge or a mountain dew

snack before supper--chips

supper--goulash, hamburger helper, tator tot casserole, something along that line

snack--ice cream or bowl of popcorn while watching t.v.

i guess i never even knew, but i always had a binge eating-disorder.

breakfast: nothing.

lunch: 99 cent bag of chips, chocolate bar, pop. (lmao i though having chips and candy was a good thing cause i was getting 2 food groups hahaha) or a pizza bun with candy/chocolate and pop.

afterschool snack: i'd think "well i didn't have breakfast, so i can have extra now" and i'd eat like.. everything. a bowl of fruit, then a pb and j sandwich, then random slices of bread, bowls of cereal, random leftover in the freezer (spaghetti, pizza), and usually afterschool i'd buy some more candy from the vending machine at school and eat that too.

dinner: whatever my mom made. spaghetti with meat sauce, pizza, chicken, steak, pork chops, hamburgers, hotdogs, mac and cheese, tuna noodle casserole, sloppy joes, etc.

snack: cereal, bread, fruit - tons of it.

and even though i ate candy and chips almost everyday, about 3 times a week i'd go to dairy queen and get a large reeses peanut butter cups blizzard.

no wonder i was 5'2 and weighed 174.

b- cereal bowl the size of my head, with whatever cereal. usually frosted flakes, or in my worse days, hostess cupcakes and pink lemonaid, or cookies and pink lemon-aid.

l- school food. usually spicy chicken sandwhich or wraps, or tacos or that type fo thing

s- soft cookies, fruitsnacks, cereal, waffles, whatever

d- as everybody else said, whatever mom made. sadly, mom was never big on real nutrition. we usually had big portions of macaroni adn cheese, brats, hotdogs, nachos, macaranoi and beef, mashed potatoes, pan fried porkchops, pot roast...you get the idea
A couple months ago was nothing, maybe some sugar free gum and water, and before that was even worse, maybe something like this?

B- If I got up in time, Id shove down some sugary muffin with a slab of margarine on it or a few waffles with butter, syrup, and sauage on the weekends or maybe a jimy dean breakfast sandwich

L- Probebly a Wendy's Chicken sandwich with fries and a diet coke

D- Idk, either going out to eat, or some hotdogs with mac n' cheese, or chicken nuggets and french fries.

D-A HUGE bowl of ice cream

And probebly a bazillion snacks in betwen there like chips, candy, frosting, pb, hot chocolate and marshmellows.

I went from eating way to much to not eating anything. Im doing better now though (: Thank you nutritonistttttt and therapist.. kind of.
breakfast- none

lunch- never eat the sandwhich my mom gave me cause it was "gross" but really it wsa just cause it was healthy. like 2-3 cookies, 2 juice boxes, maybe a yogurt, I dont really remember

after school- sit in front of the computer or tv with crackers, cookies, whatever we had, and I ate until dinner basically cause I was bored.

dinner- ALOT of whatever my mom made...usually 2-3 helpings of everything

then I would eat again at like 8:00 in front of teh tv

I dont really remember cause ive been dieting so long now but i remember it seemed like I was always eating...and there is the reason I was 5'3'' 180 pounds.
B - Tim Hortons double-double coffee plus a whole wheat and honey bagel with butter (went to drive through every single morning to get that)

mid-morning I would usually have a cereal bar or some fruit with yogurt (as if I needed a mid-afternoon snack after almost 700 calories eaten first thing in the morning)

L - two sendwiches with full fat mayo, cold cuts and loads of cheese plus danish or some other pastry, or very frequently Burger King meal with burger and onion rings (with water, luckily - don't like pop or any other kind of drink offered there)

D - whatever I made for the family (large serving)

...and then...my biggest calorie intake would happen at night, when I would down (depending on my mood) a couple more of the "fully loaded sendwiches", cookies, nutella (I would eat it by tablespoons, and I usually wouldn't stop until I hit ten tablespoons)

no wonder I gained almost 100 Lbs on that kind of diet :((
breakfast: two slices of white bread toasted, slathered with peanut butter and concord jelly. then a glass of 2% milk.

lunch: dad's famous sandwich- white bread, mayo, bologna, salami, turkey, ham, chips, soda

dinner- dad's famous spaghetti and meatballs or if mom was cooking- hamburger helper with white bread.
Breakfast: either two poptarts or a huge bowl of cereal and 2% milk

Lunch: Whatever my school served (always calorie loaded) and usually an ice cream bar or a peanut butter twix, and chocolate milk

Dinner: milk, vegetables, and something like spaghetti, hamburgers, eggs, pork chops

Snack: chips or cookies, or ice cream. and mentos like crazy!

Breakfast: huge bowl of cereal and big glass of juice and a banana

Lunch: big Cheeseburger/fries combo or other fast food equivalent

Snack - a huge nachos drenched with that "cheese sauce"

Dinner - Fast food or maybe Fried Chicken/mashed potatoes & Gravy/all you can eat sides at Hometown Buffet

Dessert:  a piece of cake or a bunch of chocolate chip cookies, or a quarter loaf of cookie dough.

I know, yuck - you asked.

breakfast- 4 eggo waffles with 1/2 a cup of maple syrup, two tbsp of butter, and a whole lot of chocolate syrup.

lunch- grilled cheese sandwich with 3 slices of cheese and butter on white roll.

dinner- 3 cups of white rice, two drumsticks (sometimes 3), and a cup of beans. i had salad too believe it or not.

dessert- 3 cups of vanilla icecream with 6 oatmeal cookies

snacks- any candy especially jolly ranchers, sunkist (bottle), and like 3 bag of wize honey barbQ chips

Breakfast - Bowl of raisin bran (with 1% milk) or two English muffins with strawberry jam and peanut butter.

Lunch - Large bowl of soup noodles.

Dinner -  Two cups of soy-sauce rice, a serving of meat, and vegetables.

Drinks? Lots of diet soda.

:P

B:  Bacon and eggs w/cheese and toast with butter & jelly or biscuit.  Don't forget the homemade tomato gravy with the homemade biscuit.  Drown it.   Or cheesecake-stuffed French toast on thick-cut Texas-style white bread.  Yeah.  Sometimes with fudge sundae syrup mixed in to make it "chocolate cheesecake."

L:  Pizza quesadilla loaded with 3 cheeses, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, and cooked drenched in EVOO and butter.  Or pasta loaded with pepperoni and cheese or full-fat Italian dressing, cheese, and a half-box of no-good-in-them crackers or a hunk of buttered bread.  Or some kind of grilled sandwich with a meat and/or a buttload of cheese, also cooked in butter.

D:  Homemade pizza or pasta/casserole loaded with butter/cheese, white rolls slathered with butter.   Basically most of what I used to cook generally involved high starch, ungodly amounts of cheese and butter, and white flour carbs out the wazzu.

S:  Any combination of chips, crackers, cupcakes, cookies, ice cream, homemade decadent desserts, popcorn with butter and drowned in parmesan cheese, etc., all throughout the day and half the night.   Then, I'd generally eat some more of whatever we had for dinner before I went to bed.

Oh, yeah, and unsweet tea.  ;-)

B- Hardees biscuit and gravy  and butter biscuit with butter.Large hashrounds.
Mid mor snack -work in retail store. So the choices were big bag of chips, big container of chocloate chip cookies , or a candy bar king size that is. bought the big containers so i would have left overs for next snack time.

Lunch-Usually Big Mac supersized with tea
 Mid afternoon snack -listed above.

Dinner- Fried chicken w/ gravy over home made biscuits, broccoli casserole, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and home made biscuits with butter.

Snack -more chips, cookies and a piece of cake i had made one that day .

Thanks to cc I don't eat like this anymore.I do sometimes eat things I shouldn't but I try to make sure it is in my caloric intake.

Ahhh... the memories, the terrible memories. lol.

Breakfast--almost always a giant bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, but sometimes I would have a blueberry bagel with cream cheese, or occasionally oatmeal.

Morning snack--would be whatever the daily baked good at school was--muffin, scone, cinnamon roll, coffee cake, donut (ugh).

Lunch--I'd usually get the entree, which varied, but would be some sort of chicken with the skin on it, or a sandwich with some fried ingredient, or something. Not all of the entrees are that bad, actually. If I didn't get the entree, I would have a PB & J on white bread, with some Sun Chips or Pirate's Booty or something, and a cookie or two, with milk.

Afternoon snack--I'd pig out (and I mean PIG OUT) on whatever processed crackers, chips, cookies, etc. where in the pantry. It was gross.

Dinner--Too much meat, too much bread, not enough salad. :P

Dessert--at least two cookies, or some ice cream, or cake, or... anything. lol.

Well...it would depend on the day...my diet ranged SO much. But on the most common patter of days:

Breakfast- nothing, or 3 strawberries, or applesauce

Lunch- 1 thing of nonfat yogurt

afternoon- mocha, cookie, chips, junk, candy, whatever

Dinner: anything being served at home, usually pasta or meat.

Dessert: lots...not just after dinner.
hmm... hard to remember back to then. it actually makes me sad that i cant remember a time that my relationship with food was anything close to normal. id say something like this..

Breakfast: a chocolate chip bagel with strawberry creamcheese and milk or a whole batch of pancakes.

when i got to school id eat the other bagel and ccheese that was suppsed to be lunch along with the rest of my lunch...then at lunch my friends would give me food or id raid the vending machines

after school id raid the cupboards

dinner-lots of meat, lots of potatos or rice or noodles, a glass of milk

snack-a box of crackers

keep in mind this is whan i was like..eight.
Breakfast - An Apples N' Cinnomon Nutri-Grain Bar...heck, it's all I had time for most days. On non-school days I'd have something more like, A bowl of Trix cereal, a blueberry Poptart, two servings of Trix yogurt, and maybe a couple strawberries. Often, if we went out, I'd get a JUMBO blueberry (or chocolate) muffin.

Lunch - At school, I'd ALWAYS get one of the school lunch choices, which included mainly a personal-pan pizza, country fried steak and mashed potatoes (with three butter packets), chicken alfredo, lasanga, foot-long hotdog with curly fries, (greasy) grilled cheese with chili.....the list goes on. And, to make matters worse, I'd ALWAYS get a snack. Everyday I either got a JUMBO pack of fruit chewies, a four-cookie pack of vanilla Snackwell's cookies, Oreos, or, a school-made brownie, cake, pie...etc. Oh, and almost everyday I also had a blueberry muffin to go along with my lunch. I know...holy crap I ate a lot.

Snack - Again, EVERYDAY I'd have my mom drive me to Starbucks and get me a slice of either their Pumpkin Pound cake loaf, or their Blueberry Coffee Cake, both at about 400+ calories. Then, when we got home I'd take THE WHOLE BOX of Cinnomon Toast Crunch AND Cheese It's and I'd eat them until I had stuffed myself.

Dinner - Whatever my mom made...fried chicken, grilled cheese and soup, baked ziti (pasta), meatloaf, hamburgers, or tacos usually.
Breakfast would be a coissant or toast

Lunch would be Tuna mayo and sweetcorn baguette (500 odd cals) Blueberry muffin packet of crisps, coke, hot chocolate with whipped cream

Dinner, hasn't changed really what ever boys mum makes excpet now its smaller portions, or a foot long italian bmt sub
breakfast- poptarts, juice sometimes cereal wtih whole milk

lunch- pizza, chips and snapple after that i would have ice cream sundaes at school

snack- tasteykakes, pb&j

dinner- usually pork or roast beef with mashed potatoes and tons of gravy and a slice of bread

usually 2-3 cans of soda after that

thena round 9pm i would have either chips, poptart or a lot of ice cream
