Typical symptoms, negative test

Quote  |  Reply

Hello all-

A few months ago I upped my cardio to get lean (bikini season!) and have been very regular with it. Also, I've been watching my calories and trying to "eat leaner." I noticed a couple weeks ago that my stomach was "pooched out" and I thought I was just bloated so I increased my water intake. About a week after that I had some spotting and breast tenderness that I've never really had before. I should add that I take the birth control pill where you go months without a period and I've been taking it long enough for my body to be accostumed to that schedule. Plus for the past couple days I've had the weirdest cravings which I won't even get into here because they seriously sound gross :) So since I'm not at all supposed to have a period, yet have all these "lady symptoms" (thanks Dad for that term...) and I'm making healthier choices so a tummy pooch is odd, I took a pregnancy test just to be sure. It was negative, but the symptoms are continuing.... Should I just let it go?

I would seek a blood test from your physician, just to make sure.

Not to scare you, but you could have some other issues going on aside from pregnancy.  Call your dr. and make an appt. for a complete check-up.  Just to be sure.  It's better safe than sorry!

If you are trying to eat more healthily it could just be bloating from an increase in fibre.

It could be any number of things. Best to see your doctor just to be on the safe side. It's possible that this week would normally be your period week and even though you're not having a period per se, you're having the rest of the symptoms. Early pregnancy symptoms and menstrual symptoms are almost identical so it's hard to tell.

Thanks for the replies! I took your good advice and made a doctor's appointment. I usually wait things out and see if they'll go away on their own, but this time after 2 negative tests and worsening symptoms I'm definitely not going to take any chances. Thanks again all!
