Hi jazz,

When I lost 30 pounds I noticed the same thing- that first winter I was absolutely freezing, all the time. If you think about it, that's a significant amount of insulation, gone! I needed to wear tons more clothes. Now that I'm going on my 3rd winter with the weight gone, things feel more normal. Your body kind of adjusts, and I don't feel as cold all the time.

I wouldn't worry, it's just a noticeable effect of your weight loss!

Congratulations!

Oh, yes! I've lost a little over 70 pounds since last winter, and I'm totally freezing already...and its still nice lovely mid-atlantic fall weather here. I'm afraid for the first blubber free winter! But at least it will be easier to wear many layers since the coats are now big:)!   Good luck making the transition ,,,and it great to hear from katyayer that it will pass!!

I've lost 30 lbs as well. I am cold all the time. I went to the store today and purchased 4 long sleeve fleece type tops. Last year I wore summer weight PJ's all winter (I live in the mountains)

I'm glad to hear my body will adjust eventually.

Great job  that we have lost weight! At least we can layer without looking like the Pillsbury Dough Boy Laughing

I am seating in my cubicle in sweater and warm long sleeve base layer with hot tea while there are people walking around in short sleeve shirts.

Two years after my big weight loss, I'm still colder than everyone else.  After that first winter during which I was rarely warm, it's better but I've got the layers ready too now that I feel that autumn nip.  And I live in a relatively mild climate!

I also live in Canada.. Toronto to be exact.

I've lost 30 pounds in 4 months, and I'm ALWAYS cold. I go to sleep with 4 layers of clothes, and 2 comforters, but it's never enough. I feel like I'm cold 98% of the time!

I've complained about this to many people, and also have googled it. To my understanding, always being cold linked to losing weight may be a sign that your metabolism is slowing down and your body isn't getting enough food to keep your body temperature constant.

Just make sure you're eating enough calories, and always eat a variety of foods... Hopefully this helps!

I lost about 20 lbs in the past 6 months, and I'm cold all the time now.  I hate it!  It's probably the only negative thing about the weight loss for me.

thanks for ur reply, i hope my body will adjust fast, its good to learn that in winter or two my body will adjust, today, in the morning it was around 3 degrees centigrades, everone was going around as if its was 20 not 3, while i was wearing my heavy duty winter jacket and fleece mittens, this cold is driving me crazy

hello Dayners, i live in richmond hill,ON, can u tell what diet modifications u made , like now a days my body is constantly craving for cheese.

pl to all of if u could tell me, if u made diet modifications, if made it ,what was it ??? did u increase ur milk consumption , or fats consumption or protiens.

thanks well in advance for ur kind words of support.

I've lost a total of 70 pounds, live in Southern California and I'm freezing all the time.

During the summer it was so hot but I thought it was lovely.  The great thing is that I didn't turn on the air conditioner in my office and it was toasty.  So when employees came by to moan and complain, it was too hot for them to stay long.  Yea!

Funny you mentioned that!! I get REAL cold at night, when Im laying in bed.  I sleep under heavy comforters and im still cold, im in Sacramento CA and it's been in the mid 70's  and I would say low 60's at night, but I thought it was just my imagination, as a matter of fact, I told my husband last night it was freezing!! he's a smart ass so the first thing he said ...."Cause your starving and probably anemic" Undecided I've only lost 27lbs so I don't know why im freezing

I've lost 40 lbs in the past two years and last year I was always cold, even in 70 degree weather! This year's been better, as long as I exercise beforehand I can walk around in a hoodie and shorts during Connecticut winters and still be warm. Smile

Congrats to everyone on their weight loss!

I've lost 110lbs since last Winter. I'm still really big, but I've noticed I'm way more sensitive to cold. I used to go outside, with no coat on, in the snow at 20 degrees and be fine. People said I was like a polar bear.

Now it's 60F degrees and I'm absolutely freezing. I'm currently posting this from under a coat and blanket Sealed.

Hi! I just wanted to give my updates, I had an appintment with my doctor about the Chill factor, he did my blood test and it came out that I had iron deficiency( infact my Iron level is really low, he prescribed medicines) because of it , I was having a difficult time in handling cold, well if any of u r having serious problems with the weather, hair loss or fatigue pl see ur doctor.
