Why is this happening??!! Cry It has been several days since this happened. It's on my face and my neck. It's disgusting!!!

And it's not PMS, because I just finished... So... what could it be?Frown

My mom thinks it's because of the food that I've been eating. So I'm thinking right now.... about the stuff that i've been eating so far..... I haven't had margarine in ages, and from several days ago, I've been eating it at night. Cravings. I would have toast, honey, margarine, && equal (artificial sweetener) Yell

I dont know... what do you guys think?? I haven't been going out often, so I dont think it has anything to do with the outdoor stuff.....

Can anyone help me find out what may be causing this?? And how to cure it??

its possible that it can be from eating differently. ive heard various times that many studies say that eating more sugary or fatty foods dont make pimples, but ive noticed that thats the case with me. when i eat clean, my face is usually clear. when i eat more junk, i tend to get pimples.

I just came back from the doctor. I got an allergy test, and well... I'm thinking that it could simply be an allergic reaction?? Foot in mouth what do you think??

Really?? For me, it's the very opposite: I've heard so many times that eating too much sugary foods (ex: junk food! eeek!! Sealed) could cause your skin to break out...

ive heard it many times, and then also heard its just a myth, and blah blah blah so i dont know what the 'official' thing is. maybe its hormones. but speaking from my own experience, yes junk food does give me pimples.

although i guess an allergy could explain it too:

It could be something external, of course and nothing to do with a poor diet.  Are you using a different moisturiser or perfume, for example.  Has the washing been done with a different washing powder?  Are you wearing scarves or other clothes close around the neck?  If you've been staying indoors is your house over-heated for the winter and making you sweat?....

A healthy diet never hurts, of course.  Foods that make spots worse are often the sugary/starchy sort.  Resulting surges in blood-sugar and insulin can trigger the production of hormones that increase the oil in the skin.   So get plenty of fresh, natural foods, especially fruit and vegetables, lay off the artificial sweeteners, enjoy your margarine, switch to wholegrain toast and drink plenty of water.  I'm sure it's only temporary.

Breakouts on your neck indicate to me it is a hormonal issue less a dietary issue. However, GI-Jane has covered the basics, though do also consider:

  • Is your pillowcase dirty? Your sheets? When did you last wash and change them?
  • Do you use foundation? If yes, how old is your foundation? Does it need replacing?
  • How old is your washcloth and does it need replacing?
  • Have you been stressed a lot, lately?
  • Is your period due? EDIT: Ah, right, just had it. You can still easily break out following your period as much you can before it!

EDIT: Ah. I just noticed you mentioning you've come back from an allergy test. I'm going to presume you mean the sort of test that has you exposed to items you may be allergic to? Because if it was that sort of allergy test then yes, that breakout could very likely be due to the testing and you should raise it with your doctor if so.

- ughh... Frown how nice it would have been if we all just knew the cause and the cure for our break outs!!!! Blechhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Yell

- perfume: hmm... recently i've sprayed some perfume/easu de toilette on me a couple of times.... but how does that explain the breakout on my FACE? im pretty sure i don't spray my face with perfume/eau de toilette HAHAHAA!! Laughing

- indoors: oh, I live in Indonesia - tropical country! No snow here hehe,,

- wow... "surges in blood-sugar and insulin can trigger the production of hormones that increase the oil in the skin" ------- haven't heard this before!! perhaps that's what's happening to me...?

- pillowcase: right after I read this, I told our house helpers to change my bedsheets/bedspread and pillowcases hahaha!! thanks!!

- foundation: i have been using this "blemish balm(?)" foundation thing, which is used to cover up  troubled parts on your face. its new.... myb thats could be it?? im going to stop using it for awhile now!!!eeeek!!Yell

- stress: you know what the funny thing is? i think this breakout worsened like the night or the day after I said, "I have less than a month 'til I go back to Korea! Omg I need to be serious about losing weight!!" Foot in mouth believe it or not!!

>>> oh, and when i talked about the allergy test, that was AFTER all of this. the reason why i even went to get an allergy test, was to figure out whether this breakout was a result of an allergic reaction to a certain type of food, plants, etc etc. Smile

Do you really have any weight to lose? If that's you in your profile picture - seriously, you're beautiful as you are right now. So don't stress yourself unnecessarily about that.

Blemish balm... this? http://www.amazon.com/MISSHA-BB-Cream-Blemish -Balm/dp/B001CTXRNU That's a moisturiser more than a foundation - by foundation, I mean a make-up that might clog your pores. However, if you think you might be reacting to it, stop using it.

And pillows aren't the most obvious thing, but they do make a difference. Heh.

- Mmmm.... I do want to lose more and tone. I don't weigh myself, so it's not like I have a specific number goal in mind. Wink && yesss...!!! That was what I was talking about. That's a moisturizer more than a foundation?? Hmm... I think (if I remember correctly) it can be used for both purposes? LOL idkkk... but yeah, I haven't been using it. I went to this facial place yesterday && the doc told me to lay off on make-up, for at least a week.

But... if I were to only do my eye make up, then do you think that would be no problem?? I may be going out later this week, so I was wondering....Surprised

If you work on toning more that weight loss, then? Weight lifting and resistance bearing exercises.

Do listen to your doctor, there. Facial make up and moisturisers will aggrivate the blemishes. Eye makeup might not, but it depends on whether or not you want to find out.

Also, ah, would you be willing to remove the symbols in the thread title? They make it a bit hard to read.

lalabanana

- Yahhh.... it says that I can't change my title, because you(moderator)'ve already edited it... eeekkkk Foot in mouth

"If you work on toning more that weight loss, then? Weight lifting and resistance bearing exercises." -------- sorry but I didn't understand this part at all!! Explain?

Ahhh.... whether or not to put eye make up... argh.... whatever, I'll try it!! Foot in mouth Let you know later hehe

My bad, I'll fix that for you.

Also, "If you work on toning more that weight loss, then? Weight lifting and resistance bearing exercises." -- Given you appear to be a good slim weight already, and that weight loss is causing you some unwanted stress, would it be more plausible for you to focus on doing things like weight lifting routines and building muscle/toning up and having the weight loss part as a secondary thing?

lalabanana

- Laughing yay you fixed it!! Hahahaha..

I understand what you're saying.... I know I should... but after years of having "weight loss" as the #1 goal, it's extremely difficult for me to change the way I think permanently.. Frown

Ah, I can understand that. Difficulty breaking a mindset or what you know.

Try to start looking to a healthy balance and focusing on food as enjoyment and nutrition over "defecit"; look at your body in what you like about yourself, about building muscle tone (something that is better done with a caloric surplus or at least a maintainance level, not a defecit) and not numbers on the scales. There's a good article on the about.com website about weight maintainance and how to go about it here: Successful Weight Management
There's also a guide to how to ease into it here: Maintaining Your Weight - Five Steps

Still, yeah. I'd focus, for a while, on maintainance while you're prepping to go to Uni. It's a big step and probably your biggest priority right now, right? Congrats on getting in, by the way! I'm going through an application process for Higher Education myself and I know it's pretty tough!

lalabanana

- awww..... thank you so muchhhh!! and thank you for congratulating me about univ =))))) im so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cool
