Reason: Moved to Weight Loss.
Could we maybe try a spellcheck and ease off the caps a little bit? Your writing is hard to understand.
I started at almost 200lbs at the beginning of this year, and I'm down to 165lbs now. I'm looking to weigh about 130 by April of next year, so I think we're pretty similar.
You'll find a lot of people on the YCC forum are recovering from eating disorders, and using CC as an aid for that. (: You'll probably have better luck in the Weight Loss forum, instead of in here, but don't be afraid to dabble everywhere.
Welcome to CC, and don't forget to read through the Unnoficial Guide to Calorie Count Plus. :D
Hello Jae,
I started the year off at 224 lbs (btw, Im only 5'3), so I had alot more than 10-15 lbs to lose! I am now down to 174 lbs with the goal of 140 lbs. I am also a full time university student and have been overweight my whole life, so we have alot in common. We can definently be weight loss buddies and encourage each other to reach our goals!
Ack lady! Your writing style is terrifying; I barely understood you!
To answer your question, your diet is really like 80% MINIMUM of your weight loss. Seriously. You can exercise all you want and you won't lose a pound if you're not watching what you eat. I know it's hard when you're in school and working and trying to be a young, social human being but you have to get your diet in check
Start there, and I bet you'll see some weight loss even without exercise.
can i just say to the other posters this isnt high school this a site to help people and promote healthy eating why are you going on about spelling for it seems rather childish. Can i just say you look great in your pictures i would start by making small changes that is what i did like one week i thought ok how about changing to skim milk etc all the little changes add up. I started off at 180 and i am 5ft 7 now i am 137 and it took me about 6 months. Like i said i started slowly then built it up if you want to talk to me about how you can do it i would be happy to help :)
Being able to communicate properly is an essential skill. There's no excuse for using terms like "datz" in normal english conversation, even if it is online.
To get on with the topic, I'm 5'0", and currently 166 lbs. I have around 40 to lose. I started losing weight at 180, but it's been slow slow slow going. I'm not very good at sticking to my calorie goal of 1500!
But, I've lost it all with almost no exercise besides walking. So if you're walking to and from class, bus stops, whatever, it'll help!
sorry but i am confused what is the website about are you the spelling police come on grow up people talk differently some people hate abbreviated words others use them all the time it is matter of opinion i dont personally use it but this is called calorie count not slate me if you dont like the way i spell words
There are times when I wonder if a post is a setup? Ever wonder?

some people do talk differently. however, this is an english language site, and that's not english.
She's angry because she figures if you go after this chick for her terrible spelling next is going after her for her terrible punctuation.

I agree she asked for helped and got a grammar check. Really I read it and understood it and it didn't take me a dictionary to do so. I think her goal was more important then the way she spelled the word "datz". Any way I too have a lot of weight to get rid of. I'm 4"11 and 196lbs (don't really know where it is because when I admit my weight I get the whole " WHERE!?!" look. But I'm supposed to be 100 lbs......I'M 19 and in college and 100lbs would look sick on me. That's 20 lbs less then my 13 year old sister who is is stick mind you at only 5"2. I don't want to be thin but I would like to get back to 130-145lbs is good for me Id like to keep my hips and bottom if I could lol. But Ive always had that toned build but being on depo kind of killed it for me. So if you need someone to buddy up with I'll gladly help you (WITHOUT A SPELL CHECK
)
exactly luckily i am a can handle people saying things like this to me some people can't there is no need to be rude to people about spelling or punctuation when they are asking for help about weight related issues i am not saying anymore about it now. Like i said if you want some help about the issues you were interested in please fell free to contact me i know and like kissable cheeks said i wont give you a spell check if datz alright ;)
I don't think they were aiming to be rude. The original post *is* really hard to read. From the header, I thought the poster was 222 lb. Apparently not. Nobody's going to pick on the odd misspelling, but the original poster might be wondering why she didn't get too many responses - and the difficulty in reading her post is a big part of why. Well, that and referring to us as a**holes.
Anyway, on to (what I think is) the actual post. You're 5'6 and 170 lbs? And wear a medium-to-large? That's not as incredibly fat as you seem to think it is. I'm not saying you don't want/need to lose some weight. But you seem to think it makes you some sort of whale - and it doesn't. There are a bunch of support groups for all different weight ranges, and a bunch for people looking to lose different amounts of weight (e.g. "lose 20-30 pounds", "lose 25-50 pounds", etc.) If you can't find one that's currently open, start your own. (They fill up really fast.) You might want to try a new thread, though, that's slightly less aggressive than this one was. Good luck!
wow i just joined this site and i have to admit i am worried. Someone said this is an english site i thought it was weight loss site and i understood her perfectly. Do people really correct spelling mistakes? That is not really what i wanted to hear i think some people are being rude. I came on here for support not to see this happening. I can't believe you guys are adults too just wow!
Hey maybe we could lose some weight together that way i don't have to worry about people picking on grammer, punctuation or spelling lol send me a message ok?
It seemed to me like most of the "corrections" were pretty tame - no one was calling her a moron or anything. I think some gentle chiding for writing a post that is difficult to read is totally acceptable.
The original poster said she is a college student - she should be capable, as a college student, of posting in a sensible way. So what I'm left with is the assumption that she IS capable of writing coherently, but she's CHOOSING not to. Which isn't terribly respectful to the people reading her post.
Feeling overweight can certainly make anyone feel self-conscious and down on themselves. From you photo I agree with other posters that you dont have as much weight to lose as you might think. My body changed a lot when I went to college (I used to be a super-skinny ballet dancer, and suddenly I had hips and booty). What is most important is to try your best to eat nutritious foods and do it consistently. The stress of being in college is a lot to deal with, but you will have more energy to do your work if you take time to exercise. Its good for your mental health and energy as well as weight loss. Go for a short walk, or try to include walking/biking into your transportation. Seriously, 15 minutes a day really helps.
On another note, if you're in college, and you're wearing size 11 or 13 that means youre still shopping in juniors. Women's clothes (numbered with even numbers like 10 or 12) are cut for a more adult figure and may be more flattering. Clothes that make you feel pretty (nothing too skin tight or clingly, try more structure and heavier fabrics) will motivate you by helping your body image and confidence. That boost will keep you going and help you get to your target weight.
good luck
Speak how you want just ignore them lol. If they felt upset by the post they should not reply anyway. Oh i like that suggestion about buying adult range clothes they are a good fit!

Some of you have very, very low standards of what is considered acceptable writing skills. I say this while quoting my post because as you can see, I spent most of my post answering her question despite the fact I had to read that abomination about three times before I figured out what she was actually trying to say.

I just started too and I was interested in talking to this person because I could use a weight loss buddy too, but honestly, I couldn't bear to finish reading her post. She did not make spelling "mistakes." you have nothing to worry about, everyone makes spelling mistakes. She's spelling things wrong on purpose and I'm wondering how she expects to get help if people can't understand what she's saying.
There are certain things in a community that you do and certain things that you don't do. I tell my boys that we act one way at home, but must use some restraint in public. Well you are in public. Why are you screaming at everyone. Typically using all capitals is considered YELLING on a PUBLIC forum. You wouldn't speak the way some of these posts are written in your "person to person" "face to face" conversations. Would you? There are a lot of people here with good advice, experience and education. You will get the total benefit if you speak nicely and coherently. I am not only speaking to the OP here.

Spiro, I still don't know what she was asking. I couldn't bear to read it.
