Ultimate Favourite Christmas Food
This is my second post about christmas, i just can't wait lol. I can't believe all the christmas things are in the shop already.
Anyway, just wondering what everyone's favourite christmas food is?
Mine has to be the little christmas tree/angel/santa shape cookies that you can buy and are decorated with icing.
Reason: Released as sticky
The cookies. I don't care what kind.. they're just heavenly. -drool-
There's especially this one kind.. I think they're called Mexican Wedding Cookies that my parents get every year for x-mas. They used to let us have one or two, and put out the rest for "santa".
Egg nog is sooo good too. +_+
Though ever since I started eating healthy, some of my previous favs just.. aren't as tasty anymore. Maybe this x-mas, some of my old favs will end up not so tasty, and other (hopefully) healthier foods will turn out to be my favorites.
when i was little, my aunt would bake a whole platter of chocolate chip cookies with nuts, and my cousin and i would finish off the whole platter! now, i don't really like nuts, so i'd say my favorite christmas food would be those red and green rice krispie squares ;)
- Whatever my mom cooks
- Chocolate chip cookies with milk
Home-made candies...my grandma is a southern woman who has few technical cooking skills, but darn if she can't make Christmas candies! They're really simple things like 5-minute fudge, coconut covered cherry balls and sugared pecans, but they are soooo delicious in their simplicity.
Just one? I have lots of foods that I only make during the holiday season that are to die for-
-Egg nog
-Gingerbread cake with lemon sauce (droooool)
-fudge
-Mint truffles
-mint chocolate EVERYTHING
-butterscotch bread wreaths
-my mom's special christmas morning apple pancakes. They are mind blowing.
-M&M's non-stop all Christmas morning until we're done opening presents around noon or 1 and it's time for the pancakes.
-Butter baked rice and prime rib for dinner along with all the other sides and desserts.
Gee, I wonder why I was so fat! It's a mystery.
Oh god, this is all making me so hungry. How am i ever going to survive this christmas. Gingerbread cake mmmm (do you have a recipe i could have)
Coconut covered cherry balls sound great too and i am not a huge lover of cherry lol.
I also love green and red M&M's in a bowl on christmas day. I love them so much
Super cheesy lasagna that my mom makes... it's a heart attack on your plate that's just dying for you to eat it.
As for sweets... cherry candycanes!
My recipe is- find a box of gingerbread cake mix. Follow directions on box. Unfortunately it's not all that easy to find. I have one in my cupboard that I bought last holiday season just in case I can't find one this season. I'm sure it would be easier to find a recipe online. If I find a good one I'll let you know. The lemon sauce on top is the best part IMO, I'll find the recipe and get it to you if you want.
Oh my gosh! I cannot wait for Christmas. It is my absolute favorite time of the year. I like to eat-
Peppermint ice cream
Peppermint chocolate anything
Traditional special dinner with family friends, which include ham, mashed potato, special vegetable dishes, apple cider...oh it is so good
I love cookies and gingerbread too! And hot soups and slow cooker meals, or mac n cheese. Yum!
You love X-Mas like I love Thanksgiving!!! Both have pretty much the same foods involved too!! I love the turkey & brussel sprouts & green beans! I also just love that everyone gets together and makes a big deal about food!! :)
Yes i would love it if you could find a recipe because over here in aust i have never seen a cake mix for it. Yeah, i think i just love the atmosphere too and the fact everyone makes a big deal about yummy food!
Everything peppermint flavored! I normally don't eat it on a regular basis, but for some reason the holidays just makes me love peppermint flavored chocolate, eggnog, whatever you can flavor stuff with peppermint with (although I'm not a huge fan of peppermint candy by itself still).
That, and gingerbread! =)
And I love how stores come out with eggnog...that stuff is awesome!
Yorkshire pudding.
Oh, and sage and onion stuffing.
Actually the Jack in the Box Eggnog shake somehow managed to be even better than eggnog. I managed to not have one last year. Previously I knew into January which drive thrus still had them LOL. Its a slippery slope for me so will probably abstain again this year.
My birthday cake as my birthday is December 24. ;)
Candy Canes!
Pizza (usually have this along with the cake)
Limited ice creams
Christmas cookies ANY kind.
Homemade chocolate candies filled with peanut butter. Mmm.
I love this italian cake called Pannetone (not sure if i spelt it right), you take this cake that comes in a box and shake powdered sugar on top of it. We have it at my family's every christmas eve, i love it!
Also my aunt makes these awesome almond cookies that i love but are so sinful!
well, as much as i love the turkey (we do a brined turkey - it's amazing), my favourite is christmas eve dinner. we always have fondue. so good!
Christmas!!!! I love the candy canes, adult egg nog, christmas cookies..especially the holly wreaths my mom makes, any kind of pumpkin-y dessert, and whatever kind of meat either turkey or ham or both!
mmmm, my moms homemade noodles and pumpkin pie. I love to bake cookies but don't care much for eating them. Also homemade peanut butter fudge.
oh lordy I'm gonna have to be good all december so I can eat all the things I love on Xmas!
- Baked honey ham
-corn pudding
-greenbean casserole
-oyster stew
- allllll of the desserts: brownies. pumpkin pie, pecan pie......my dessert plate is always a ridiculous sampler
and then I go into a food coma and take a 5 hour nap :)
