Ultimate Favourite Christmas Food
This is my second post about christmas, i just can't wait lol. I can't believe all the christmas things are in the shop already.
Anyway, just wondering what everyone's favourite christmas food is?
Mine has to be the little christmas tree/angel/santa shape cookies that you can buy and are decorated with icing.
Reason: Released as sticky
traditional christmas dinner - honey baked ham, turkey or roast chicken, homemade mac n cheese, my mom's dressing w/ gravy, broccoli casserole, cranberry sauce, rolls, my mom's red velvet cake, rum cake, eggnog, candy canes, the list goes on and on...looking forward to it this year
OHHH CHRISTMAS! This post is getting me excited!
I love fudge! and my parents make these eggs and bacon things that are really just two stick prezzles, almondbark and m&ms. YUMMMM.
I also love candy canes and pumpkin pie!!!
These aren't my favorite Christmas foods, but I have three new favorite foods that I feel like I just have to post somewhere! My current favorite foods:
1. Fiber One Bars (Oats & Caramel or Oats & Apple Streusel flavors-140 and 130 cals, respectively)
2. Archer Farms Blueberry Almond Instant Oatmeal (absolutely HEAVENLY-160 cals)
3. Pirate's Booty (they're like healthy cheetos; a huge bag full for 130 cals)
Has to be either my mum's Christmas cake with marzipan and icing (the seriously thick, hard stuff that you almost lose a tooth eating) or chocolate coins- my mum has always put a little bag of them in my stocking since I can remember.
Mincemeat. Strange and delicious material which contains apples, raisins and spices; but no meat. It's best in filled cookies, but also is good in pie, or stirred into yogurt.
THHQ-hi, can you buy mincemeat? i had it last yr for the 1st time and its so good! i so thought it was meat but no, just a really good pie filling!
SILK! NOG! SILK! NOG! SILK!!! NOGGG!!!
Silknog is the only really good thing about the "holidays." I wonder if I will have it now that I am counting calories...?
We don't really have traditional christmas foods otherwise...we used to order pipzza on christmas eve, though :)
My aunts blueberry-peach cobbler, hands down.
it's AMAZING.
mmm i love the rice krispie wreaths and meringues :) o jeez, i hope i can keep myself in check this year! i think i had one (or two!) of every cookie last year lol also i love shrimp dip with ritz crackers! anyone else? its not especially for xmas, but we have it at most family holidays and its always been a favorite of mine :)
homemade cinnamon buns and all the other morning danishes and pastries
hot chocolate on christmas morning (made with whole milk, real melted dark chocolate, heavy whipping cream, sugar, and cinnamon. ohmy goodness!)
cheesy potatoes aka a heartattack (they have sour cream, cornflakes, cheese, onions, hash brown potatoes, and cream of chicken soup)
and who can forget the cookies! every year we make, chocolate covered cherry, peanutbutter kisses, butter jam, sugar, and gingerbread. of course, i have to try them all! =)
The mincemeat I'm working on right now is Crosse and Blackwell, which I picked up at a close out sale last year for $1.50 a quart (regular price is about 5x that). Downside is that it contains HFCS, which I'm not wild about, but it's mostly fruit and I don't eat it that fast.
Another food very much like mincemeat is plum pudding. It's like mincemeat with enough flour added to cook into a moist cake.
lol, so nuts, its like were all on patterns bc my posts and the ppl responding to them are always like the same time..
so im in the US, THHQ and dont know that brand you mentioned and i dont know what you mean ny plum pudding and i dont know what HFCS is either so i dont think id mind it, lol. do you buy the plum pudding or is it like a cake that you make?
maybe ill just ask the ppl at the supermarket if i really want it! lol
peppermint bark, gingerbread cookies, and pretty much all christmas cookies
EGGNOG
and peppermint flavored chocolates and hot chocolate
you can spend your time thinking about your favourite christmas food
but we all know with out a doubt
its
"pigs in blankets"
cocktail sausage wrapped in bacon cooked in the turkey fat.
it comes out (seemingly) one day a year
i dare you to tell me otherwise
home made rice pudding with lots of raisens
candy canes.
PIE! either homemade pie OR bakers square : ) french silk is to die for.
Also, i love cookies, especiallly sugar and chocolate chip.
Oh and i also love Ferrero Rocher chocolates(in the gold wrapper) yummmm.
Stuffing is my favourite Christmas food but, really, I love it all: Christmas pudding, Christmas cake (fruit cake with marzipan and icing), trifle, turkey, gravy, roast potatoes, etc. etc.
Lol. This is hilarious.
Gingerbread is by far the best!
Panettone or any spiced fruit cake! I can literally eat the entire cake! So good!!!
That peppermint bark with dark chocolate. Ugh to die for.
Cookies, hot chocolate, cornbread stuffing (that's more Thanksgiving but still... yum!).
Ginger snaps!
