The ultimate motivation- a thoughtfully oblivious gift from mom

First off, I have the best mom in the world! She called a couple weeks ago to say that a boutique I used to love back home (I moved to the west coast last year) was having a sale and she stopped in. She mentioned that they had the cutest jeans there that she thought would look great on me...and that she bought a few pair and sent them to me. Now, it's really almost embarrassing to be an adult and still have your mom buy clothes for you, but it's great to know that she's thinking of me. Does she have the biggest heart, or what? Anyways, she went on to say that they were those Skinny Jeans- ya know, the ones that only look good on runway models and 15 yr old emo kids. To make matters worse, she bought the only size she knows for me which is the size I was in highschool! The boutique owner warned her to buy a size up since skinny jeans are well, skinny, but my mom says she didn't want to offend me and was sure they'd all fit just fine...right, mom. The package should arrive in a week and I know I can't lose 20, 10 or even 5 lbs by then, at least not in a healthy way. But I plan to visit back home in December, and ya know what? I'm going to show up and give my mom a big hug wearing those skinny jeans!

What an awesome motivator!!  I've thought about this too...returning home for the holidays looking awesome.  My family's not really openly critical but I KNOW how they can gossip!  If my family could give me a compliment, I think I will have accomplished a lot.

Post up before and after pictures with the jeans!!!

That's a good idea about the pictures! The trick is actually bringing myself to take the before picture...yikes!! And I know what you mean about gossip. While I'm fortunate enough to have a family that must be blind or something(love is blind, I guess?), I know that if I ran into some old friends and aquaintances there'd be some talking going on. I must admit- I'd rather have them saying positive things!

Thats a great motivator!

I actually just bought 2 pair of jeans on clearance in a size smaller than i am now (which is also my goal size).

I hope i can wear my cute jeans to holiday gatherings too!!!

that is sweet... I have a small frame so people asume im only a 4 or 5 and Im actually a 7 or 9... it makes a huge difference! I should buy some smaller clothes to try and get into.

Wow this is great! I'm also planning to look stunning when I get home for Christmas. I've always been the skinniest sibling but I gained a little weight and rumor has it that my always-chubby sister has slimmed down incredibly. I don't want to steal the spotlight, but I'll admit that I certainly don't want her to have surpassed me!

That's so sweet...of both of you!  Give your mom a big hug when you see her in December!
