um, what happened?
I was satisfied with my weight last month, at 130-135. In the past month, I have gained between five and ten pounds, putting me at around 140. I am a weight-restored anorexic, and I've been eating probably about 2000 calories/day on average. This gain is more than I ever gained when I was eating 2500 calories/day trying to gain weight. So my question is, what the crap happened? Any ideas?
aurevoirkatie: First, whatever you do, don't suddenly decide the answer is to go on a crash diet. You are much healthier now at 140 than you ever were in the anorexic category. Don't go below the 2000 calories, whatever you do.
Here are some thoughts I have on why you might have gained some weight:
- Maybe your metabolism has slowed down. If you eat a high-protein, healthy breakfast after drinking a large glass of water to start the day, that often gets one's metabolism going well.
- Perhaps a bit of walking, spinning, jumping rope, elliptical, etc. would also help keep you in your desired weight range. Frankly, I am cautious about encouraging you to burn extra calories, since it's obvious that 2000 is healthy for you.
- Is there the chance that the extra weight is water-weight and connected to sodium-retention? Also, are your BM's regular, and do you weigh after having a good one? LOL
- I hope you are in consultation with a health-wellness expert who has set up your eating plan to help you remain a healthy weight.
Best of luck in maintaining a healthy weight. Just be patient. Normally, I would recommend one's logging his/her calories, execise, and weights daily for a couple of weeks to track the trends, but since I have been rather bashed about by people who know a lot more about ED's than I do, I would only recommend that course of action as long as you are not obssessive and prone to depression if you let the scale dictate your life.
hey mr. pilgrim, thanks so much for your advice. it is possible my metabolism has slowed down i guess. I usually do get a pretty decent breakfast, but I'll see what I can do to make it a little higher in protein.
Also, I run about 2 miles a day, six days a week for excerise.
I would conclude that the weight might be water; however, water weight usually falls off after about a week or so, right? And yes, my bms are pretty average.
I am going to see my nutritionist today for the first time in about two weeks; we'll see how that goes.
Thanks so much for your help. c:
