How do I become un-addicted to sugar?

I am a processed food and sugar addict. If it's there I eat it, hungry or not. I usually have it gone before I even think about not eating it. How do I change my thinking from "I might as well eat it now because I will eventually" to "I really don't want to put something this unhealthy in my body." I am a total emotional eater.
Answer
There are two opposing ways to view sugar “addiction”. The first says to avoid it and the second says to legalize it. Avoiding the addictive substance (sugar and refined flour) is the traditional way to treat addictions. Cravings usually subside after an uncomfortable period of adjustment. But avoidance schemes usually breakthrough because we crave what we cannot have, and so the other camp preaches legalization. When you allow yourself to have a food whenever you want, you then have the option to just say "No!" Learn about legalizing food in the book, Overcoming Overeating. You have to decide which treatment method sounds best for you.
