I will only use the broiler in the summer for something super quick.

Like yesterday for dinner, I had a mahi mahi steak that I brushed a bit of marinade over and popped it under the broiler.

3 minutes on one side; turn it over for about 2 minutes on the other side.

Have to be careful not to overcook!

With my veggies steaming in the microwave -- this is a standard quick, healthy dinner for me.

I don't think there's any other way to get that broiled flavor and aroma.  I wait for cool days to use mine.  It's the best way to cook delicate fish like flounder and sole.  I don't turn those at all, just salt, pepper, a squeeze of lemon and a quick blast from the broiler.  I've been using the Reynolds non stick foil to keep from breaking those thin fillets.

yeah that non-stick foil is the stuff

i like how it makes clean up so much quicker too

:)
