5'3" and under!
Ugh. Do you ever just hate being short? People look at your weight and go "wow, well that's not much!" and then you have to justify it by explaining "well, I'm short." And pants either have to be hemmed or worn with some kind of a heel.
Anyway, I got curious -- who on here is 5'3" (or even 5'3.5", hehe) or less? How does your body composition work out? For instance, I'm short, but whatever length I *do* have is mostly in my legs (31" inseam). That's also where all of my *weight* is too, but I digress.
How does your build work itself out? Where would you like to lose the weight, if you could pinpoint? I feel like a lot of us shorties are bottom heavy! :)

I'm 5'2" ... and I feel your pain, heh.
My weight is pretty well proportioned I suppose ... but I feel that I have more in my belly and around my middle than anywhere else. Have you ever noticed how pants are either tight or fit nicely in the waist, but they're WAY baggy in the legs?

I'm 5'3. i think I carry most of it in my midsection, i feel like I will never get rid of this pooch, and that nasty stuff that hangs over the sides of your pants!!! And I'm TIRED of having to hem my work pants. Jeans I can deal with a little on the long side, but I HATE my nicer *work* clothes dragging on the ground! I feel ya, sister.
Im 5'2 and pear shaped, it makes a great combo :S
I am 5'3" too and I have a hard time finding the right pants. They are always too long, especially capri pants! They usually just look like flood waters on me. I am pretty well proportioned, but I do carry a gut that sits below my belly button. I hate it. I could totally wear at least one size smaller in pants if it were gone. Plus maybe I could find pants short enough then too. That's something I look forward to finding out.
i'm 5'2" - i like feeling small and cute... sometimes! when I was 40lbs heavier i never felt like that. the problem is when you are short, every pound counts... HOWEVER that works two ways, so when you lose it shows too :)
I'm so going to become a fashion designer for short and beautifully curvy women. we rule x

I am 5'2" with shoes on. I am what u might call top heavy, after my last child (turning 2 this month) I graduated to a size G bra. I have the lovely belly bulge I suppose you'd expect of a woman with 4 children, my arms hold more than their share of weight. My inseam is like 29, so pants never seem to fit right.
I need to lose everywhere, but I would love to lose it in my arms, bust, tummy and thighs.

XD I figured it's me you were talking about- I'm 5'3.5''
Surprisingly, due to the amount I sprint, my calves especially are very muscular and have almost no fat on them; my legs overall are fairly muscular and skinny as well. My arms are very skinny, and I guess the only place I would want to lose a little weight or especially tone is my stomach. I'm not exactly....well-endowed, so I guess I disprove that factor as well. : P

I'm 5'3'. I feel every shortchanged inch of it too when I try to reach beyond the second shelf in my kitchen. Since I had my baby I put all my spare weight right on my tummy. Baby belly NEVER seems to go away. Darn.
I'm 5' and pretty well porportioned (sp?) too. That just means that my fat is just spread all over! At this point I'm at least 35 lbs over weight and it definately shows.
I guess one of the benefits is that even at 31 I'm still getting carded all the time!

This is a great post - I am 5', also spread out pretty easily - 165 now
down from 190, BUT I anever weighed more than 130 until that change
thing..... HATE it
BUT on a positive (well almost....) I feel like I am taken more seriously since I have a few years and pounds. Hated that people think you are childish or not smart because you are small. And didnt like that getting carded thing very well either. Still will be glad when the rest of the pounds are gone!

I'm 5 ft 3 and I've got more than I should have all over really. Hate my mid section though. And I have horrid upper arms too but, unfortunately, I think that's in the family...lol. Nevermind.
Can't wait to get rid of my hips though. I've got an extra curve at the moment...and although I love my curves, this one ain't meant to be there! Its going away slowly though! hehe
Am currenty 144lbs, looking to be 128. In an ideal world I'd join a site where I can grow 3 more inches...but alas! lol

Hello fellow shorties!!! I am 18 years old and 5'1".(and i am the shortest in my whole family, with the exception of my granny and my 6 yr old cousin) I started at 165 and have lost 6 pounds so far. My overall goal is to be about 105-110. I have a bigger belly. (but its shrinking, i now fit into a 10, yeah!!!) I always say one good thing about being so short is it will be hard to find a guy shorter then me.
Hey Kalkette- get your pants from old navy, they sell theirs in short sizes.

I'm about 5'3", I think. I have the biggest butt, and thighs to match, but I'm hardly a 36B! I wouldn't mind my bootay so much (since it looks grrreat in skirts) if I was well proportioned, or if my thighs were a wee bit smaller.
I also have really short legs, which makes it worse, well, atleast I feel like I have short legs.

I'm 5'3" (on a good day, *wink*), and I've got a cool hourglass figure going now that I've lost 20 pounds. That said, my weight is mostly in my hips/butt, grr. Right now my waist would fit nicely into a size 12, snugly in a size 10, but those darn hips are keeping me in 14 land, for now.
My limbs are the shortest part of me. For example, I have the same torso length as my husband, who is 6'1". I have a 28 inch inseam, so even petite sizes are waaaay too long, all the time! When I was regular about going to my yoga class, my teacher would tease me about how I would have to use blocks in some of the positions (like the seated twists) because my arms just wouldn't reach!
*sigh*

I'm 5'2, 19 yrs old. I have such short legs! Which means they look stumpy and there isn't much I can do about it. I tend to carry my weight in my tummy and love-handle area. my upper thighs also tend to get a bit flabby, but I do think its easy for me to be critical of that part because of my short legs. Gah, being short is such a pain, isn't it?
I am 5'3 and 126 lbs and most of my weight is in the lower half, legs and butt. Oh and I have a pretty long torso and short little, legs
I'm 5'3, and it's funny, I believed I was 5'4 all throughout high school, but when I had my first physical at 18 I learned the truth.
All of my younger cousins, my brother and my sisters are taller than me now! It's nuts.
5'3 of course isn't that short, but for my family it is.
I weigh 200 pounds, most people guess me at 150.
before my breast reduction surgery I was definately top heavy. I was 180 pounds, and wore a 36F/G. After I weighed 150 pounds, and wore a size 10/11.
Now I am just big everywhere, I have HUGE legs though, mostly due to muscle from "dutch dancing" and swimming. It's been a while since I've done either of those, and so I believe they are all fat now. ugh!
I wish I could be 115 at this height, but for some reason I think the smallest that would look "healthy" on me would be 130. I think I have large bones. My hips are about 43 inches, and the hip bones do show! My breast is 36, and my waist is about 32/33. I am trying to work on it though.
Sorry for typing so much! I am a freak. :)
Tink
Edit: I forgot! I do have to hem up my pants, but usually I just buy them petit. It's not hard to find petit in size 14/16, even though I thought it would be.
I usually don't mind having longer jeans or cords though, I just roll them up, or tuck the back into my shoes after rolling them and then the edges hang pass the shoe tops anyways so noone can see that the back is tucked in a bit and that prevents them from dragging. Especially in the rain! I hate that.

I'm 5'2. First of all, GREAT POST. love this topic. I was curious myself. :)
I suppose i'm pretty well preportioned over all. I play sport and am very active so i don't have much fat. I'm the shortest in my grade (highschool sophmore). This fact will once again be proven upon tomorrow; picture day. We have to line up from shortest to tallest...and...well...you know.
I have a very long torso which mean i LOVE the really long shirts the stores have now (as long as they aren't ridiculous). I'm not top heavy at all. Actually, it's kinda the opposite. I have NOTHING up there. *pouts* and ya know in highschool, ya kinda wish ya did. lol.
anyways. thats about it. What's up fellow shorties?

LOL I had to get a mug for my dinner ... and when I tried to grab one ... at the very back of the top shelf, of course ... I had to drag a chair all the way through the kitchen ... reminded me of this post. Just thought I'd share, I know we all have these experiences quite often. :)
