unexpected weightloss??

Quote  |  Reply

I just got back from a holiday in Egypt where i was kite surfing.

I probably ate more than i ever have in my life for a whole week! Literally 3 course meals for every meal, drinking non-diet cola etc all day, having desert at lunch and dinner (but i did make an effort to make my meals reasonably healthy-veg with everyone one, fruit juices etc).

Anyway i've come back and have lost around 7-8lbs now weighing 111-112lbs (i'm 16 and 5"5). My dad who never notices even commented my clothes looked too big and i looked a bit skinny.

I was excercising a lot with the all kiting and i was walking up and down the resort throughout the day but i just dont really understand how this weight loss happened considering that i'd estimate i was eating maybe 3000 cals or maybe even more a day.

Any suggestions anybody of how this happened?

Thanks

I always lose weight on vacation, too. Or, I eat too much and don't gain (same difference, but I'm 37 and it's harder now.)

Just count your blessings and don't worry.

You're not still trying to lose weight, are you?

<---------  Jealous, sounds fun!

I haven't worn my HRM kiteboarding, but based on how hungry I get, I would bet it is a lot of calories.  Although, I'm still a beginner so I spend a lot of time walking upwind, and honestly I think that burns a lot more calories than riding.

I hope I have a similar experience when I go to Brazil in June!  I'll be gone for 6 months, and I would LOVE to come back blond, tan, and thin.  :)

your probably both right and  it probably does use up a lot a lot of calories. anyway im not complaining :)!

and no im not trying to lose anymore! i usually hover around the 120 mark but i dont weigh myself too much (i used to weigh myself constantly and got a little neurotic so now i just do so every couple of weeks)

i'm quite a beginner too so i spent quite a bit of time walking! soo much fun though have a brilliant time in brazil kaffwynn! i live in the uk and we have some quite good spots nearby (although a bit cold!) and my family does it - i just cant wait to be doing tricks out there! good luck with it :)

this always happens to me to (eat too much, drink too much, no strenuous exercise, and weight loss)

its probably because you shocked ur metabolism, which allows ur body to let go of fat.

i think this is exactly the reason why you should take a week long break out of the month from lifting and calorie restriction. its hard to accept, but it really seems to work.

i suggest you read up on calorie shifting (aka zig-zagging). that might give you a little insight into ur question.
