Unhealthy Foods

Quote  |  Reply

I notice lots of people mention healthy/unhealthy. But I realize that many people have diff ideas of what's healthy/unhealthy.

1. Unhealthy foods that you won't eat unless its an extremely special occasion or you have to plan for it (if any):

2. Unhealthy foods that you avoid (if any):

3. Unhealthy foods that you eat/'treat' yourself to regularly (if any):

4. And lastly, do you love these unhealthy foods?

  1. Unhealthy foods that you won't eat unless its an extremely special occasion or you have to plan for it (if any): Fried chicken. If my grandmother or my mother fried 'em, they'd force some down my throat and insist that I should try at least a mouthful - especially the chicken skin. X_x
  2. Unhealthy foods that you avoid (if any): Fried red meat or white meat
  3. Unhealthy foods that you eat/'treat' yourself to regularly (if any): Cakes, pastries, ice cream.... ANYTHING with sugar. My sweet tooth is amazing.
  4. And lastly, do you love these unhealthy foods?: Hmm, definitely not a fan of fried meat. :P

1. Unhealthy foods that you won't eat unless its an extremely special occasion or you have to plan for it (if any): foie gra

2. Unhealthy foods that you avoid (if any): lard, shortening, and sometimes butter

3. Unhealthy foods that you eat/'treat' yourself to regularly (if any): trace amounts of refined sugar, like the ones found in hard candy.  Also chocolate.

4. And lastly, do you love these unhealthy foods? I love 1 and 3, but only like butter in certain foods =]

1. Unhealthy foods that you won't eat unless its an extremely special occasion or you have to plan for it (if any): Hmm, I can't think of any. On holidays I'll indulge

2. Unhealthy foods that you avoid (if any): fried foods and red meat

3. Unhealthy foods that you eat/'treat' yourself to regularly (if any): chocolate!!! and ice cream - basically sweets

4. And lastly, do you love these unhealthy foods? I only love sweets, I would have no problem never eating fried anything or red meat for the rest of my life.

I just started my calorie counting diet on January 9. I need to eat between 1200-1350 calories per day to get to my goal weight by mid-September. So I'll fill this out, trying to figure out what I now deem healthy, because my views have changed a lot in the past few days!

1. Unhealthy foods that you won't eat unless its an extremely special occasion or you have to plan for it (if any): Cookies, cake, ice cream...basically any sweet food that isn't fruit.

2. Unhealthy foods that you avoid (if any): (see above) plus soda (regular and diet), anything fried (Part of my job in my college's cafeteria is working the fryers, I know the food that comes out of them is really unhealthy), hash browns (I usually like to eat about 3 cups, and that's over 1000 calories according to this site).

3. Unhealthy foods that you eat/'treat' yourself to regularly (if any): A lot of the things I enter say that they are very high in sodium - such as my Nalley Vegetarian Chili - I love that stuff. I stopped buying saltine crackers to put in it because it's just added sodium. I also get tired of water so I'll drink a Sobe Green Tea or Lipton Raspberry Tea, there's lots of sugar but I get bored with water.

4. And lastly, do you love these unhealthy foods? It's so hard to have to switch to this diet, because I used to drink 3-4 Mountain Dew Code Red 1 liters a day, plus a Frappucino, sugary cereal, popcorn chicken and fries loaded with seasoning salt for lunch, and some sort of pasta mix for dinner...that was my freshman year of high school. I started eating healther, especially after becoming vegetarian my sophomore year. I got salads for lunch and started avoiding soda. I started to lose weight then, and kept that diet for a while, but it wasn't enough. I got here to college and started eating whatever looked good - like those hash browns (3 cups or so) with two scrambled eggs and sugary juice for breakfast, something fried with something baked for lunch, and something off the steam line for dinner (which, since I help bake the stuff, I know it's made with tons of butter and whole-fat milk and lots of salt). When I went in to the doctor on the 9th and weighed in at 213, I knew something was up, and now I'm commited even if it sounds crazy.

1. Unhealthy foods that you won't eat unless its an extremely special occasion or you have to plan for it (if any): Cake.

2. Unhealthy foods that you avoid (if any): Hmm..I don't really avoid anything.

3. Unhealthy foods that you eat/'treat' yourself to regularly (if any): Icecream and chocolate.

 4. And lastly, do you love these unhealthy foods? Most of the time, yes. xD

1. Unhealthy foods that you won't eat unless its an extremely special occasion or you have to plan for it (if any): I actually do not have food like this - I have very good will power and am not tempted to eat any junk food.

2. Unhealthy foods that you avoid (if any): All things white & processed & Alcohol & Dairy (which is white)

3. Unhealthy foods that you eat/'treat' yourself to regularly (if any): None! I believe all my foods that I eat are treats and luckily they are also healthy!

1. Unhealthy foods that you won't eat unless its an extremely special occasion or you have to plan for it (if any): any sort of dessert/junk food I plan for...I have a treat everyday...so if it's a holiday/special occassion I save those calories for that one special thing I want to eat...(except X-mas...too many things I like so I just eat whatever I want that dayl, but that day only lol)

2. Unhealthy foods that you avoid (if any): anything from McDonald's, BK, etc. (other than maybe like their fruit cup or something strange like that if I happen to be there with friends)...I just can't bring myself to eating like fries or a burger or something from those places again

3. Unhealthy foods that you eat/'treat' yourself to regularly (if any): everything (except like fried stuff)...I have a treat every day...I just eat sensibly....i.e. today I wanted a twinkie so I had ONE and won't have any other "junk" food for the rest of the day...it got it out of my system for now and was plenty...and was good lol

I'm going to rearrange the questions slightly....

1. Good foods I enjoy but which some people think are unhealthy for some strange reason... butter, beef, smoked bacon, whole eggs, crusty white bread, real dairy ice-cream, decent Camembert, Brie & Stilton etc,, freshly made scones with clotted cream and jam, the crispy crackling on a roast leg of pork, dark Belgian chocolate, rich madeira cake, treacle toffee,  sausages, beef dripping on toast, good wine, salami, Brussels pate, olives, proper chips, black pudding ...

2. Barely edible substances that should be avoided like the plague..... string cheese, non-dairy creamer, instant soup, instant mashed potatoes, 'diet' biscuits, zero-calorie noodles, fake ice-cream, non-alcoholic beer,  Sunny Delight, canned vegetables, frozen carrots, aerosol cream, garlic salt... revolting.

3.  Barely edible substances that I secretly enjoy....  Shipphams Paste

GI-Jane and I are on the same page on this one except for number 3, I've never heard of Shipphams Paste and I like Garlic Salt occasionally.

Shippams Paste....   A taste of the 1970's....

1. Unhealthy foods that you won't eat unless its an extremely special occasion or you have to plan for it (if any):

Pretty much any meal out - I try to keep a good 600-700 cal spare for eating out, then have some kind of fish or salad & then a big chocolatey gooey dessert. & birthday cake made by my mum - a victoria sponge with butter icing! Beautiful but deadly. But also tradition.

2. Unhealthy foods that you avoid (if any):

It's not much foods, more places ie; McDonalds (eugh!), Burger King (blerg!), Any fried chicken palce & also fish & chip shops.

3. Unhealthy foods that you eat/'treat' yourself to regularly (if any):

As some other have said - nothing is really out of bounds as long as its in moderation & counted for. I do very occasionally treat myself to chips & gravy from the local chippy but the last time I had that was about 3-4 months ago. Chocolate is a very regular treat, little & often stops me having a huge blow out on the stuff.

4. And lastly, do you love these unhealthy foods?

Yes. Apart from McDonalds & Burger King & such places. It's just empty food to me.
