did my (unintentional) error matter in counting calories and weight loss?

Quote  |  Reply

I have been wondering why I was losing weight quicker than this CC website was telling me.

Then I learned that my height, that should've been 170cm, was at 67cm.  (I don't even know where I got that number to be equivalent to my 5'7" height.)

Did that error matter in all my input and actual weight loss?  My target date was almost always far from reach, my burn meter was low and the calorie advice was too difficult to follow.

Then, now that I have placed the correct info, I learned that I have been logging in about 200-400 less than the correct advice calorie-wise.

I just got confused and wondered if my error (a grave one that led to an 'untruth' - sorry) placed me in danger of being too low in calories.

Granted that I felt great while counting the calories.  But then on my 'off' day(s) when I'm not counting my calories, I may have been in the correct amount of the calories advised by our tools here.

RESULT: I have lost 3.5 kilos (about 7.7 pounds) from December 09-23.

(That's great for me and that I regularly go to the gym now really helps.)

Insights?  Thanks!

hhahah your height is 67 inches! i'm guessing that's where you got the number from.

im not an expert but here is what i think: i think the worst that could have happened is that your metabolism may have slowed down from not eating enough (e.g. if you eat under your BMR). you'd probably notice a lack of energy or dizzy spells if that happened though, and since you've lost 7lbs i doubt this has happened. since you've only been doing it about a month you probably haven't done too much damage, just eat the right amount from now on and your body should recover :) you might see a small gain at first but it'll go down pretty quickly once you've adjusted.

You're right, that is at 67 inches.  Gosh m such a retard Yell!

The advice then was at 1800 and I was eating about 1900 and it turns out that the real advice is at 2200.

67 centimeters would be what 2 feet and 2.5 inches?

dang what a great difference!!!

It probably did not make a huge difference. The key number to pay attention to is your deficit. Based on your other posts, cc probably thinks that you burn 3200 based on hour age height weight and activity level. So 2200 would ba a 1000 calorie deficit, and 1900 would be a 1300 cal. deficit.

If that's the case you probably didn't do any huge harm but it would be a good idea to up the calories to the recommended level. If your calories are too low it could slow your metabolism and also hamper your workouts by not giving you enough energy.
