unsung heroes - who helps you do this?

Quote  |  Reply

I just wanted to give everyone an opportunity - myself included- to thank the people who help us achieve our weight/fitness/wellness goals.

I have lost 13 pounds in 4 weeks through my diligent efforts but I could never have done it without my husband's support.  He is my fruit cutter-upper, my workout partner, my listening ear.  He sees me - not my weight.  He models a healthy lifestyle for me and never criticizes me for a poor choice.  He is the meal planner/cook in our household and he always has something healthy for us (we also have three children).  The poor man has listened to endless discussions of calorie deficits and my burn meter :).  He always is (or acts as if he is) interested in how many calories certain foods have in them too.

Now that the results of my hard work are starting to show, I am getting alot of questions like, "how did you do it?".  It made me realize that besides the calorie-count.com lifestyle change, I have a full-time partner helping me do this!

Tag on to share who has helped you along your journey.

Ive detailed it in my profile but her name is Alice.  She was my sister in law and now is a friend.  With her encouragement and support, she saved my life.  Seriously.
Would you believe my son-in-law.  He is also in the process of (successfully) losing weight.  He does a lot more weight lifting than me- I do a lot of cardio and use some hand weights.  But he always has good information and is some one I can bounce things off.  Who would have thought it?

I've lost 31 pounds since 8-22-07 thanks to my wonderfully encouraging, always-supportive, fantastically understanding, almost saintlike husband, Ron.  He has had the absolute BEST attitude ever during this ... patiently letting me rant over dieting, patiently watching me read the label of EVERYTHING in the grocery store, and patiently letting me tell him the calorie count of every single food item that crosses my mind -- much less my path!

When I told him I wanted to start getting more active, he bought me a bike ... plus one for him so we could bike together. And he's never said no when I've wanted to go biking .... even at 9pm!  He also took me to buy better walking shoes, and helped me sign up at a local Fitness Center. And he's agreed to go with me as my coach whenever his work schedule permits. AND, he's promised me my very own treadmill just as soon as the one we want goes on sale!

And he is so affirming, encouraging, considerate, loving and kind. Just today he gave me an unexpected hug, telling me that I was "cute as a bug ... just like always!" (happy sigh)

To keep me motivated, he's promised me two rewards for my weight loss. When I've lost my first 50 pounds, we're going to Hawaii. (31 down, 19 to go!) When I've lost my first 100 pounds, we get to go anywhere in the world! Wooo hoooo!

Most importantly, he loves me unconditionally. He encourages me. He supports me. He listens to me. He compliments me. He helps me. And he prays for me.

What more could anyone ask?

=^..^= MOLLY

that is so awesome!!! does he have a clone?? haha!
my hero is a lady I met through work.  When I found out my blood pressure was dangerous she vowed to help me get it down and since then she has been my rock and my diet guru.  She can make a meal out of the simplest things and make the most boring diet stuff taste divine.  I wouldn't have come this far without her.
I must say that my hero or support person would have to be my husband Jason. He tells me he would love me at 600 pounds or 130 . He only wants me to be happy. He is very good at helping with meals even if he and my children will not eat what I need to eat. Also I have asked the Lord to help me and this time I can notice a difference but that is not to say it is easy!!!
My sister (although I sang her praises on the Motivation board last week, grin).  She encouraged me to try Weight Watchers and it really works for me.  She's always got good advice when I falter, or totally screw things up, and helps me to get things in perspective.

Actually, my whole family is very encouraging, so I'm really fortunate.  I haven't seen my sister or brother since I started losing weight (again, although for good this time I hope) and I'm down 30 pounds now.  So I'm really looking forward to them seeing less of me at Christmas!
My whole family is behind me but without my wife I would still be 285 and not 201. She has been doing it with me and has lost over 30 pounds herself. In the past I was the selfish one who sabatoged her weight loss by wanting to eat crappy food and lots of it when she was trying to be strong. But she is a far better person then I and has been behind me 150%. She is wanting me to relax some with it, I have lost 84 pounds in just over 4 months and is worrying that i'm doing to much but never is it for any reason other then concern. She had to cut back some of the things she likes to treat herself with so that I wouldn't be tempted. Now she'll have cut up pineapple with fat free redi-whip topping for desert instead of ice cream. Just little things like that allow me do what i'm doing. I can't thank her enough, though she enjoys the "new me" with my weight loss. Certain "aspects" of our relationship are better then ever after we have lost 115 pounds... if you know what I mean. Cool
