The Untypical Member

Quote  |  Reply
Since shortly joining the forums here, I've recognized certain qualities which I associate with the typical calorie-count forum member. The largest of which is being female. I, being a 20 year old male, am finding it challenging to find others I relate strongly to. I first arrived at thie site seeking to increase my knowledge on self-help to improve myself. While I have recieved a tremendous wealth of information in the short time I've been here, i've noticed that other members seem to sometimes have a hard time applying their current knowledge to a male's digestive habits. This leads me to believe that I may be somewhat of an "untypical" member. So, what I am really wondering is, are their others who feel a little like this themselves?

Now I know for sure there are at least 12 active members on this site that are male. =)

As for myself, I left the corporate world three years ago, moved to a remote island, across an international border. I have a solar panels, a modern composting toliet and do most of my cooking on a wood stove. I grow organic produce and spend most of the fall experimenting with home canning. I have sheep, which I breed, raise, sell for meat, shear, spin the fleece, knit my own socks and weave a bit. I stopped believing in consumerism or that bigger is better. I live off from the interest of some money I invested, it is a really puny amount, but I manage. The other side of it, is that I am a geek. So almost polar opposites. A lot of people think that the way I live now is really weird. So I might have you beat on the unusual here on C-C. *wink*
I haven't gotten that vibe; at least not yet, ive only been a member since thursday. But I'm a 26 yr old male so ill be checking this thread.

Also, bringing up any type of diet or healthy food discussion with any of my friends who are guys is totally off limits :) I will admit to trashing people who didn't come with us to get fast food on our typical 2 days a week. But now that im away for 3 months; I have dove head first into this; going to be a big shock when I return.

Good luck.

Happy to hear from a 26 yr old member. Your the first male other than me on here thats under 30. I mean, I think I'm the founder of the Meat Appreciation Team at my University. While I dislike the idea of veganism, I still strongly value eating healthily. I know what its like, I'm right there with you.
What is to dislike about veganism?
I would agree that I dislike the idea of veganism FOR ME. I don't think it's right for me, nor is being vegetarian right for me.
I love meat too much :)
Ohhhh I sense TENSION!
hahaha No no no. I'm not vegan (because I can't really afford to buy everything I would need to keep me healthy... I got really sick the first time I tried). I just don't see what's wrong with it.
*quietly ties ladyevropa's hands to a tree*

*quietly ties ladyevropa's feet to another tree 5 feet away*

Now that's what I call tension ;D

What? What are you all looking at me oddly for?
This is gonna hurt tomorrow
technically, hk, you'd have to *mph!* PULL... on those *mph* ropes to create tension... *mph*

Hey, look! A giant monkey!  Cool!
It's like one of them toys you made in wood class. Pull on the string and watch ladyevropa climb the trees! :D

*pullpullpullpullpull* XD
Twenty-seven year old carnivorous male here.

Sorry, I'm slightly distracted by hkellick tying up ladyevropa...  what was the question again?
I believe the question is "What is six times nine?"
But I could be confused :)
I must have meat, it's a necessity and I would likely die if that was removed from my current diet.

*sigh* that's exactly as dramatic and ridiculous as the people running around feeding their dogs no-meat diets, you realize that, right?
don't get me wrong, I loves me some maple-cured bacon.  I just also don't HAVE to have it.
HOLY DUPLICATE POST, BATMAN!
I just want to say that for the first time, tonight, we are trying Boca
Burgers. Wish us luck, and hope, for us, that they do taste
sufficiently like real burgers :)
they don't really taste like burgers, but they're good.  I recommend adding a lot of BBQ sauce to them, it really helps.  I also drop an egg on top, but I'm weird!
