do you normally gain more the first week of upping them higher then go back to gaining at the pace you were before?
im confused coz this week (well since last Friday) im already up 4lbs :(
i know i should be seeing all the positives in the weight gain but it seems a bit drastic to have gained that much in such a short period of time.
although i did binge on friday and saturday *sigh* but that normally dosent affect the gain rate per week.
should i wait till Friday and see what the scale says then (giving it a FULL week) or just go by what its saying now?!

the same thing happend to me. The first week i gained 4 pounds, then the next week 2 pounds, then the next week 2 pounds, then the next week none. your body will adjust! u NEED the first 4 pounds, the rest will come on normal. good luck:)
!__! I gained four pounds during my first five days, and it shocked the heck out of me. But pretty soon my gaining started coming on more regularly, so I'm pretty sure that your's should too. Just give your body time and be patient...everything will turn out just fine. :)
Dont try to think about gaining...just focus on eating normally like mimic friends and family.
Soon your body will adjust and you wont have to worry anymore...right now water rentention/body shock is causing your weight to change drastically.

hey there. don't be scared, it's okay to gain weight the first 3 4 weeks, and believe me the first week is the hardest: i too gained some weight, 10 pounds, to be more precise (i swear), and i was round as a baloon, retaining water, my belly was hudge, and the pressure in it was killing me; people were asking me if i was pregnant, etc. Surprize: second week 1 2 pounds off eating normally, and the next the same - so i ended up with gaining only 6 in the end. i kept eating normally for the last 6 months (almost, i celebrate on the 12th this month) and nothing happened; i admit i keep track of calories and try not to bindge. And as for purging only happened twice during this perioud, but the second time was awful - i had to go through 3 days of bloating after that. to tell you the truth i've had it. by the way: it is normal to bindge once in a while, as we ex-Eds are very strict about what we eat our body may say 'enough is enough' from time to time: i think that i do it every other week: keep my cals 100 below what i burn and one day , oops go over with 500-600 . but the scale keeps the numbers, that's what matters. kisses and hope you succed! remember the first week was the hardest, by next week you'll be already considering your ED smth belonging to the past.
The first week, your body is in shock. It has gone from being starved to being fed a normal amount of food (which is a lot compared to what it's used to!) and so it doesn't really know what to do with it. Your body digests food at a slower rate because it's used to making small amounts of food last a long time.
In addition to food staying in your stomach, I hope you don't mind me bringing up the subject, but constipation is also a big "bloating" factor. Your colon, like your stomach, is used to processing a much smaller amount of food. Also, with more food usually comes more fiber - so a drastic increase in fiber may constipate you. Drinking plenty of water will help this.
Also, now that all of your calories aren't going towards simply keeping you alive, calories will also go towards creating new muscle (especially since you exercise a lot!). Remember that the more you exercise and the more muscle you have, the more calories your body burns.
So it's pretty much a matter of your body speeding up to digest and "excrete" your food to match your larger food intake. I'm not saying that you're not gaining any fat/muscle, but it takes time to gain that kind of weight. It's most likely excess food/retained water/poop. ;) So I'd ignore the scale for a while, as your weight will bounce all over the place. Keep with it, girly, I promise it gets easier. <3
