Update: eating BMR for a month
and gained 1lb
Yep I gained one pound since the first of March to the first of April
Granted I have not measured myself and I do have some to compare and once I do that I will edit this post...
My BMR is 1400 and Ive eaten between 1400 and 1800 all month ( and about 3 days of 2000 cals) and according to my month average it is: 1387 cals a day
The only changes I did to my exercise routine was put on 1lb wrist weights because the 5lbs weights are light and took a 20lbs dumbbell weight to do dumbbell squats, and I am using the program on the treadmill to get me as high as 6mph back down to 4mph w/ different incline.
It could be muscle building up I think........... or have I really gained or plateaud...
Any suggestions is great~
EDIT: 1:10PM
I had looked at 03-01 to 04-01 and had gained a pound
now that I looked at last 30 entries from today Ive lost 2lbs (??)
I think either way if it's a plateau or gain, its good for your body to have a "break."
Just thought I'd share =)

Wow, you say you eat 1400-1800 calories and then have days you eat 2000... so how in the heck is your monthly average 1387? I am sure this can only mean you did not eat your BMR the entire month. First of all you are below your BMR, even if a little... Sounds like you had too many days of starving yourself so you could eat more on the weekends? Your body may have been reluctant to let any of the extra calories go that you consumed on your high calories days.
starving not at all
though i had to measure rice I enjoyed it very much lol
thats the average i get when I do the analysis so I dont know about that....
and weekend eating - I wish ... :) I stayed home one day last week and I devoured everything in sight then I took all the packages.... and had to type in everything ~
so what is the advice... should I try this again this month?
because the reason i started eating my bmr was because I was eating 1200 cals per cc and that put me in a plateau in the middle of February....

I think it's great that you're at least open to experimenting. If it's not working, maybe you could vary your exercising too, or perhaps have less of a range with your calorie intake?

What does that mean? I've seen it a few places I haven't figured it out yet. (I'm still learning)
Diane
Maybe try a week of 1400 MINIMUM and don't go below that number at all on any of the days and see what happens? One week won't ruin your diet even if it doesn't work...
Ok...thanks I will continue this week and then start religiously at 1400 .. starting on Sunday~
Like someone already said, if your average is 1380 and you have a few 2000 calorie days in there that means there are days when you're eating significantly less. This is basic mathematics.
This is basically a cycle of deprivation and binging, which will upset weight loss for sure.
so again should i continue eating my bmr of 1400 to lose the last 6lbs to the goal weight or recommended weight....
since I am not undereating - what is recommended to do ~ ??
at first i was consistently eating my 1200 cals then in February I plateaud .. read up on bmr and started eating my bmr in 1400
sorry to repeat myself....
so no I am not undereating
and I am not eating significantly less... I am so enjoying rice and pasta - love it!

You're either under eating sometimes or you're not entering all of your calories. If you were NEVER eating less than 1400 then you average calorie intake would be over 1400. That is the way averages work. They are always between the lowest number and the highest number in the set, they are never below the lowest number. If you truly ate between 1400 and 1800 calories most days and ate 2000 or so on a few days than the average of 1380 is impossible.
mgrondin - read the edited part:

Of course its simple math so which one should I look at ... the calendar format or the last 30 entries that supposedly calculates to a month
either one ...so again should i continue eating my bmr of 1400 to lose the last 6lbs to the goal weight or recommended weight....
I'm sorry, I still don't understand how your average calorie intake can be 1387 if you're eating between 1400 and 1800 calories per day. I can't answer your question until I really understand how many calories you're eating.
Maryium, I am trying to eat my bmr this month as well. I'll try to let you know how it goes, k?
mgrondin - then we are both in the same boat... not understanding
tyrdrop - i guess Im going to eat my bmr more strictly for the rest of this week and continue next week ... and just stick w/ 1400 and not go up to 1600 nor 1800 .. though I am going to a dinner on Friday and bridal shower on Saturday so I will try again to guestimate my intake...

Hmm, I am with mgrondin. An average score cannot be lower than the lowest score; if you eat between 1400 and 1800 cals, there is no way the average can be less than 1400 cal.
ok again read the edit
geez how hard can that be... thats is the analysis
stop w/ nonsense of how the average doesnt make sense.. take that up w/ the creator of the analysis calculator...
read the edit on how all that came about and please give me answer if you have one if not then thank you for reading!~ moving on...
My guess is she didnt log a day or two. Because my average calorie intake accordning to the analysis is 856. When I have been eating 1800+.
Mariyumm, if you want an accurate average get out a calculator.
1 lb isn't alot. You could be 3 pounds heavier from when you get up in the morning to when you go to bed. Could be water weight or muscle. You also didn't say how much work you actually do on the treadmill. That makes it tough to give you an answer..
And I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it's impossible to have an average lower than anything you've taken in. If 1400 is the minimum of what you eat and 3 days a week you eat 1600, assuming those other 4 days you eat 1400, your average would be about 1485. If you have days of 1800 there, it'd be higher. Did you mean to say you eat between 1200 and 1800??
no i dont want an accurate average b/c i never asked for it
i am only asking if i should continue this month varying between 1400 and 1800 or should i do strictly my bmr of 1400 for the month.
its just some people obsessed on the average
but thanks anyway.... sooooooo should i vary the calories or strictly eat my bmr?
