hello.

i've been gaining weight for the past few months and it's not evenly distributed :( i'm a runner, so most of what i gain go to my lower half. i have strong quads and calves, although my tush could use some work, haha. i have no problem with the weight gain, except i look disproportionate and i'd like to get a stronger upper body. i don't want to look like i could snap in two!

do you guys have any suggestions as to exercises or workouts that i could use? i currently have access to a gym, but in a few days, i'm going home and won't have a gym near me, so it'd be nice if there were a few things i could do without the use of any equipment (yeah, probably asking for too much there...)

thanks a lot!

Pushup variations, chinups, isometric pushing and pulling on a wall, make your own dumbbells from a shopping bag and some bottles of water - if you don't want to invest in a set of 'real' dumbbells. Or a set of resistance bands, they can come in handy and travel well.

If you can do 15-20 pushups in a row with your legs elevated on a chair you might start working on doing one-armed pushups or walkouts. Oh, yeah - check out this bodyweight-based home workout for some more suggested exercises. When you get back in the gym, check out this List of weight training programs for some suggestions - pick one and go with it ;)

thanks!
